The pictures don't do the scene justice. As we turn inbound to SFO from Point Reyes VOR, the city of San Francisco lies before us on this clear evening.The Approach Controller isn't particularly busy but he offers no clue how we will be handled further down the arrival path so the plan is to continue on the 'Golden Gate 4' to the SFO VOR adjacent to the San Francisco Airport where we will land.At many airports arrivals are planned as gradual descents of 1000 to 1500 feet per minute to the runway. The idea is to keep the spoilers stowed and the ride smooth for the customers in the back. But the Golden Gate arrival is different, more like an approach into a mountain airport. ATC usually plans to have us up high over the city, perhaps for noise abatement, then lose all our altitude south of the airport as we turn to intercept the approach path for one of the 28's.This means the cockpit can get busy in the last 10 minutes before touchdown. Right now we have a few more minutes to enjoy
