We all expect a little showmanship from Realtors when presenting a home. One of the tricks that has always crossed the line is photoshoping pictures. (hat tip to Chris)It would be nice to see Realtors address photoshop tricks in
A Pew research study conducted in May found that 54% of Americans under age 30 believe in anthropogenic global warming. Only 37% can be said of those age 65 and older. Kids are being taught at an early age to clean up after themselves and only take a small portion so

While trying to live in an as environmentally friendly way as possible is a good thing, going green doesn’t necessarily mean you have to stress over everything you’re not doing; taking things to extremes can be more damaging than it’s worth. If you listen to one thing I write about. If you take one piece of advice, it’s this! The power of creating an alkaline environment in your body can be the difference between poor health and amazing vitality!
The pH of the blood should be 7.63. An alkaline environment is where cells thrive and have the best potential to regenerate and complete their cycle. Acid environments, those created by diets loaded with protein (Atkins, American), highly refined carbohydrates, sugar and processed foods.
So it’s simple acid kills cells and the opposite, alkalinity lets cells grow and do their thing.
The more acid we have in our bodies also promotes fat tissue to stick around because it buffers acid. Acid in the body is also associated with osteoporosis and kidney st

The article concludes:The last Southern Baptist statement on global warming came at the denomination’s 2007 annual meeting, which approved a statement questioning the belief that humans are largely to blame for climate change and warning that increased regulation of greenhouse gases will hurt the poor. Even so, Jonathan Merritt, a student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, began rallying denominational leaders to take a different approach. Going green and economic development often goes hand-in-hand. Greenness is a luxury many small economies and poorer countries can’t afford. Greenness is a sign of a country that can afford to promote health and higher standards of living besides just squeaking by with the bills. Greenness is the new trend in national makeovers and ranges from planting trees to regulating automobile efficiency.According to World Economic Forum Switzerland and Sweden are ranked the highest for green development (Economist, 2008). They are followed by Costa Rica (a relatively poor country), Iceland and Britain. Most of these nations are strong in terms of economic development and are predominately from the northern regions. Going green has a number of advantages even though the returns aren’t often immed
Going Green can be a label used to set you apart from your competitors. The best way, if you have your own building, is to research how to make it carbon neutral. Invest in renewable energy sources for you business. There are benefits to going carbon neutral: 1) it can be very good press; 2) it sets you apart from your competitors that are killing the environment; 3) it helps the environment; 4) and there could be tax breaks at the local, state or federal level. This is a legitimate way to cash in on the Going Green movement that is worth looking into. If you can write off the cost, attract customers, and help with fighting global warming.....is there a reason not to?Carbon neutral is simply the balancing of carbon producing energy sources with non-carbon producing sources, like solar powe
I think my children are out to get me. Or at the very least, they’re trying to rob me of my youthful good looks and charming dispostion. They’re determined to make me old and feeble before I hit the mid thirties.
Shocking, I know. They’re preteens. But up till now, they’ve been relatively easy kids. As long as I keep them in steady supply of hot chocolate (the kind with marshmallows), allow access to a gaming system and toss some food pellets in their direction, they don’t generally complain too loudly.
They’re even kinda helpful around the house, what with the wood gathering, toilet cleaning and dish washing service they freely provide.
But as of late, my charming children have morphed into soul sucking, angry kids who act like spoiled brats engaged in a cage fighting battle. They’re ready to rip one another’s heads off (and mine too) if someone so much as looks sideways at them.
All of this and they whine. Worse than my three year old n
Years ago environmentalists were shunned by the public. Scorn was heaped upon tree-hugging hippies. Global Warming was seen as ludicrous. Caring about the environment seemed unnecessary. Now, everything has changed. Going Green is the thing to do.What happened? I think major works like those of Al Gore, the UN, and others have spurred the public to be more earth-conscious and caring. We all believe we have a responsibility to prevent a catastrophe of our own making.Whether or not global warming is real, we are now taking steps to insure that such a threat will not be able to harm us. Better safe than sorry.
In ecological terms, how we bury our dead is unsustainable. In contrast, a simpler, greener movement that requires fewer natural resources and causes less pollution is emerging that will change the way the $11 billion corporate and consolidated funeral business funeral service profession operates, which is currently dominated by just three conglomerates—Service Corp. International, Alderwoods (formerly the Loewen Group) and Stewart Enterprises.
Being “Green” is definitely one thing that is on the tops of most people’s minds these days. With Christmas just around the corner, there are lots of ways to have a green Christmas.
One way is with your lights. LED Christmas lights use less electricity than the little incandescent bulbs we grew up with (or the big bulbs if you are a bit older than me). They also last much longer – hate trying to find that one bulb in the string that went out. Both of these reasons mean that you will save money along with the planet.
They are safer than the other bulbs too. If you are the type that must have a live tree, you know you have to keep it watered. People forget to add water or the cat drinks it all up. Pretty soon you have a dry stick of flammable wood in your home with layers of hot lamps all over it. LED mini lights generate very little heat. You should still keep your tree watered, but LED mini lights will reduce your risk of fire. Oh yeah, be sure to mulch your tree when

Going green on Whidbey Island.
The world has always been in a crisis. This covers practically all areas as the economies of most nations are faltering one by one. Oil, one of the important resources that these nations need has been rising to outrageous proportions thus pushing people to find alternatives.
Green development such as fossil fuels have been one of these alternatives. People have used and been happy with it and to date, a large chunk of the world still lacks the overall coverage of the alternative resource that the world truly needs.
Companies used to shelve environmental initiatives when times got tough, but now, with oil so expensive, spending on green projects is expected to accelerate.

The level at which an individual would take the issues of global warming and climate change today would depend on how they understand it. Also, a lot would rely on the relevance of the issues today would have with regards to the manner of living. Just imagine in schools why most activities are inclined towards instilling green awareness education as well. Children think less of the benefits of keeping the environment clean but if asked individually, most of them would consider it only routine.
Elder people would value the world more. They have seen the good and bad consequences and are aware of what is going on today. The various events and happenings can be attributed to the way that people live and most of the old ones know what such contributing factors are.
In all, I guess it would depend on how people get oriented and placed in front of the truth of it all. That is perhaps the best alarm clock anyone could have when it comes to appreciating the green efforts and green movements
According to a survey by leading insurance company Norwich Union, many people in the UK are going green not because they believe in being eco friendly but out of guilt. This is a similar thing to keeping up with the Jones, in fact the figure is put at 68% of the people in UK are recycling out of guilt.
But at the same time around 56% of UK people feel that living an unethical life is a real taboo, in fact maybe even as bad as drinking and driving.
In the UK there is a push to force people to go green, this may be through only collecting the trash once a fortnight or charging for each pick up, however this may cause a rise in illegal dumping, which is only going to cause even more problems down the line.
The simple fact with trash is that it needs to be cleared, limiting people to small pick ups is no good, when the supermarkets are creating a huge amount of plastic and paper, maybe they should start there, reduce the trash at source and therefore reduce the trash in the home.

Indonesia is now formally on the vanguard of the global green energy movement. A new energy law approved last week aims to reduce significantly the economy's dependence on imported refined oil while boosting the use of other energy sources, including natural gas, biofuels and geothermal supplies. The law mandates the establishment of a National Energy Board, chaired by the president, which will carve out policies and oversee development in the energy sector. The new law also stipulates that a strategic reserve in both conventional fossil fuels and renewable energy resources, such as
Ellen had a green week way back in May on her talk show. However, it didn’t make it to YouTube. Until now!
Check out this video, where she invites Sustainable Spaces into her home to give it an eco-critique. Ellen is pretty green and you could learn a lot from her!

The 28 private non-profit colleges represented by the Independent Colleges & Universities of Florida are committing to "green" practices.
ICUF President Ed H. Moore announced Wednesday that the colleges have agreed to conduct regular audits to ensure they are complying with environmental laws and regulations administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. “It’s the latest in a series of steps taken by ICUF institutions to green their campuses and will result in substantial savings by helping them avoid future compliance issues.”
Moore and independent college and university officials from Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee signed agreements with the EPA during a ceremony at Emory University in Atlanta.
“The self-audit program will allow our members to identify environmental issues and fix them, and EPA will waive some or all of financial penalties normally assessed for violations,” Moore said. “It’s a good deal for us, the EPA a

Here is a video I found via GreenMaven and Treehugger. The video was created by the Apeiron Institute of Environmental Living and the Rhode Island Film Collaborative.

Even animals can do their thing with the proper training and this alone should serve as an inspiration that anyone, man or beast if properly educated, can do their part in maintaining a green and healthy environment.
Waste management is something that people need to focus on. Sorting out our trash for proper disposal will benefit most of us and not just some of us. As we can see, Pedro the Otter leads the way in making all things possible. Can we do the same?

We are constantly searching for industry leaders who bring the idea of green living down to something we can all take action on. One such leader, Yahoo. As you have read in a previous post on The Qube Exchange, Yahoo just launched a Green Campaign where users can walk through a virtual "Green House" to learn where and how they can save energy around their own houses.
Another leader….TreeHugger. TreeHugger is by far the most comprehensive consumer resource we have found out there. Not only is their site inviting and fun to browse, but they have several “Get Informed” sections ranging from transportation, to science and technology, to food and health, to fashion and beauty. There are also several ways to get involved on TreeHugger.
But what do we like the most? Their “How to Go Green” guides. You can choose one of 23 different guides, and in each guide, TreeHugger contains 7 sections showing you effective ways to go greener. Two topics we like include
A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds that more Americans than ever, 60%, up from 48% a decade ago, believe that global warming has begun to affect the climate. A slightly larger percentage think it will cause major or extreme changes in climate and weather during the next 50 years. Yet most people will not make a sacrifice in dollars or time to make thing better. Full report from USA Today.
