This means that rates are potentially going up, since the feds funds rate which was just cut, mainly applies to corporations on the bank investor. The ten-year treasury note is tied in directly to the bond investor,(not the fed funds rate as is commonly thought) and that is what causes mortgage rates to go down.  The catch is that if interest rates go down then bond investors will demand a higher return, thus causing interest rates to go up for mortgages. They conforming loan rates (less than 417K) have come down a little bit over the last few weeks but Jumbo loan rates have not come down. The short answer is “nobody wants to lend money”. Banks are having a hard time selling their mortgage backed securities to investors and therefore, they must charge higher rates to borrowers. That shows that it doesn’t matter that the Fed is lowering short term rates and that 10 year treasure bonds rates are at the lowest level in 2 years. The reality is that too many investors got burned this year and they are not willing to lend money unless they can get a very good rate for it.

Swedish band Sparzanza has released new material after four years of silence. The opening song “Going Down” from the album “Banisher Of The Light” really kicks some ass. It sounds strong and it has great bass and drum parts. It sounds somehow fresh hard rock. The whole album is a good package of good rock. I recommend buying this one. Rock!

As many people predicted, the Fed lowered its benchmark interest rates today. But while many people predicted a quarter of a point drop, the Fed actually reduced it by half a point, going from 5.25% to 4.75%. Not bad for the first rate reduction in 4 years! While across the country, the upward trend in mortgage rates and the fallout of subprime lenders had caused a serious downturn in housing markets, San Francisco real estate has managed to stay sheltered from the storm with high demand and little supply - keeping our market going strong. The lower rates will likely not bail out the entire country’s housing market, but here in San Francisco, where we haven’t really needed a bailout, we can only see positive effects as buyers reap the benefits of a slightly lower interest rate. If you’ve been sitting on the fence about buying or selling, it’s safe to jump off and take the plunge into the market.

My love bought a huge amount of LP albums for very cheap yesterday. We have´nt had time to really go trought all of them yet, but I was looking trough one of the boxes earlier today. Most of the LP´s are from the 70´s and the 80´s which means that there is a huge amount of my childhood music and memories in there.I wouldn´t say that my musictaste was great when I was a kid. I remember that the first casette I ever owned was Sandra, the second Madonna and the third Samantha Fox. The thought of Samantha Fox always makes me smile. I discovered the following very tranquil photograph, of our neighboring Somethin's Going Down compound, in my photo album, and dear God, luddite that I am, I even managed to crop it to my satisfaction. As you can see, a full panorama of the various corners of Crab-cowboy-compound. Many cars, but no goats nor cowboys evident. A rare motionless vista of the lodge and its attendant sleep hovels...you can't really see all the mobile homes, but this is still quite a good slice of Crabcorner architecture and parkitecture.I believe the image may, however, be deceiving. I had been putting this post off anyway and then when I was ready to write it, the borrowed computer wouldn’t work nor was mine ready yet. Appropriate. Uncanny, like the song that came on my Ipod when I began writing this the old-fashioned way (pen and paper). Six Feet Under had the most brilliant series finale where Claire drives away from the funeral business and into her future while “Breathe Me” is playing, interspersed with vignettes showing the fragility of life. The Options Market at the Chicago Board of Trade is predicting an increase in the funds rate by the Federal Reserve. They see a 41% chance the rate will increase 0.25% to 5.5% in December of this year. Interestingly, as late as a month ago they were predicting a possible decrease in the rate! But, inflation is steady and within the comfort zone of the Fed Governors. It is at the high end of that zone but the Governors are not panicky about the current inflation numbers. They are aggressively adjusting the money supply in an effort to avoid rate adjustments up or down. It is clear from the recently released minutes they would like rates to remain unchanged for the foreseeable future, meaning twelve to eighteen months. This is good news for real estate investors not just because there is a fictional perception of the funds rate affecting mortgage rates. It started with me waking up and falling into a time distortion field.I am beginning to wonder if there is some sort of time-space fluctuation surrounding my room, one that makes time move faster than anywhere else.
