Not only does he have one of the best blog names in the atheist blogosphere, but today Rev. Reed Braden has something else. He's host to the 104th Carnival of the Godless. Be sure to check it out. After you're done, head over to Unscrewing the Inscrutable to volunteer to host one yourself. If you enjoy the Carnival of the Godless as much as I do, you do not want to see it disappear. Did you realize that we are in danger of losing the carnival because hardly anyone is volunteering to host it? I sent in my offer to host whenever I am needed, and I suggest all atheist bloggers do the same. This is too important to give up. Subscribe to Atheist RevolutionTags: Carnival of the Godless, b
Forget the presidential mudslinging and namecalling. Who needs it when we have 12 rounds of bloody pugilism in the North Carolina Senate race between the familiar incumbent Elizabeth Dole and Democratic challenger Kay Hagan and a horrific claim that Hagan is “GODLESS”.

The 101st Carnival of the Godless is up at The Lay Scientist. There are many excellent posts, so visit the carnival to catch up on your atheistic reading. And speaking of atheistic reading, I plan to write a post on the top books I'd recommend to those just beginning their exploration of atheism. Look for it here later this week.Tags: Carnival of the Godless, atheistic reading, atheism, blogging,
The 98th Carnival of the Godless has been posted at Letters from a broad... in plenty of time for your Sunday church replacement. My post about the DNC's interfaith service was included. I suppose this may seem silly since we are clearly running out of time, and plans are in place to go through with the religious service. Still, I wanted to make sure that everyone knew this was happening and had t
Carnival of the Godless #95 is posted at the aptly named The Atheist Blogger. It is really neat to see how much this carnival has both grown and matured over the past couple years. This blog carnival has come to rival anything else out there and continues to be something to look forward to every other week. Enjoy!Tags: Carnival of the Godless, atheist, blog carnival

The 89th Carnival of the Godless is up at Rational Response Squad. As a Christian who sees the Holy Bible as the complete word of God, I have been racking my brain to try to figure out how a pastor could take the Holy Bible and twist it to support separatism, racism and some of the other downright Godless beliefs adopted to by Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and The Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, IL. The problem was that I was not looking past the authority the Church claims to use.Ryan Lizza wrote an article about Barack Obama's unlikely political education for the New Republic last year that gave insight to the spiritual past and education of the group. After many lectures like this, Obama decided to take a second look at Wright's church. Older pastors warned him that Trinity was for "Buppies"--bl
I am officially announcing that the next Carnival of the Godless will be hosted here, on my blog, beginning April 13. Be on the lookout for that. I have gotten a bunch of good submissions already. The following is a "response" from a Vox Day fan. It is relatively devoid of anything intelligent, but I address it because everybody cries if I don't.Quote:I have some agreement with your comment. However we are not talking proof here, just a suggestion. Correlation implies causation. It is hypothesis generating. No, correlation does not imply causation, and a hypothesis should be generated before any experimentation is undertaken. The hypothesis comes from pure observation, and is then proven or not by experimentation. Perhaps you should study the scientific method. Quote:B
AMERICA NEEDS A PRIVATE CHARITY FUND FOR CHRISTIAN PARENTSThis is why you MUST send your kids to private schoolJimmy Z - Once again, the left exhibits the exact opposite of their self-described 'open minds.' There ought to be a fund for Christian parents who can't afford private school, but they know their kids are suffering the godless ranting of leftwing scumbag teachers who are not only offended by any profession of faith, but who will give students a zero if they dare to incorporate their faith in class. Now is the time for Christian parents to encourage their kids to stand up for what they believe, and then sue the living crap out of the schools. If they think they have no money now, wait until the Christians sue these deplorable public schools into submission. And the teachers themselv

The 87th edition of Carnival of the Godless is up at Ironwolf. This one is set up to focus on readability, as Robert offers brief descriptive summaries of each post so you'll know which ones to peruse. My contribution to this carnival is my post about Wesley Crawford, the brave Mississippi high school student standing up for separation of church and state.Tags: godless, blog carnival, Mississippi, church and state, atheism, secular
Last night I watched a re-run of the 80th Academy Awards. The event was hosted by Jon Stewart. This is his second time to host the Oscars but I found his hosting quite stiff. I’ve never been really a fan of his, actually. Has Conan O’Brian hosted the Academy Awards yet?Anyway, the red carpet is an important aspect of the Academy awards. This is where superstars, mediocre stars and wannabe stars strut for the press. This is the event where designers fall all over nominees to wear their creations. I love Helen Miren’s gown best. There was a flashback of all the films that won the best picture award. Out of the 79 films that won I saw about 35. From these awardees, my favorites are: Gone with the Wind (1939, no! I wasn’t alive back then), West Side Story (1961), My Fair Lady (1964), T

hmmmm… godless cotton candy…
Browse the rest of Greta Christina’s blog while you are there. It is really very good. Hope you aren’t bashful though.
I try not to pick favorites from these carnivals and let the carnival itself advertise everyone equally, but I like this one a lot and it maps well to the themes of some of my posts.
Alister McGrath manages to go on and on and say almost nothing of substance. He refuses to commit himself to any type of position, and avoids being really debated by never staking out a claim

Does this change the way you feel about these phenomena? It's interesting to note that though they can trigger the experience, they still can't explain exactly how or why it happens." I love deconversion stories. I see every one as a triumphant two-fold victory, for the individual and, just as significantly, for the world. Atheist Hussy has started a new blog called Coming Out Godless, which will be an archive for such stories which have been voluntarily contributed. I think this is a wonderful idea, and I’m honoured to say that mine is the first listed. If you have a deconversion story written, I urge you to submit it. If you’ve never written your deconversion story, then here’s a great opportunity and incentive.
Long overdue, I’m also adding Atheist Hussy herself to the blogroll.

The latest edition of the Carnival of the Godless is up at Letters from a Broad. The next one is at Action Skeptics on June 10th.
PZ Myers of Pharyngula has put together a great collection of articles in response to the recent opening of the creation “museum” in Kentucky. Having a short attention span today, my favourite:
Other Carnivals:
The 39th edition of the Carnival of Liberals is up at A Blog Around the Clock.
The 38th edition of the Carnival of Feminists is up at Team Rainbow.
The 3rd edition of the Carnival of Space is up at Universe Today.
Over at Pharyngula, PZ recently asked what other atheists do on Easter. This is one holiday that I don't even acknowledge. The Christian version is a celebration of the very core of their religion, certainly not something I have any interest in celebrating. I can understand how the American commercialized version might hold some appeal for families with young children, but this is not my situation. So what will I do on Easter Sunday? I'll probably write a few blog posts for the upcoming week - this is going to be a busy one, so writing some stuff ahead of time is helpful. I imagine I'll do some yard work because this is the season when everything starts growing like crazy, and the weeds are going to take over soon. In short, I'll behave the same as I would on any other weekend.
From The Sunday Times (UK) November 19, 2006: Richard Dawkins, the Oxford University professor and campaigning atheist, is planning to take his fight against God into the classroom by flooding schools with anti-religious literature. He is setting up a charity that will subsidise books, pamphlets and DVDs attacking the "educational scandal" of theories such as creationism while promoting rational and scientific thought. The foundation will also attempt to divert donations from the hands of "missionaries" and church-based charities. His plans are sparking criticism from academics, religious leaders and fellow scientists. The Church of England described them as "disturbing", while others complained that Dawkins's foundation bore the "whiff of a campaigning organisation" rather than a charity.John Hall, dean of Westminster and the Church of England's chief education officer, said: "I would be very disturbed if this project was going to be widely supported because it's not based on reasoned
