I just finished reading two books by the prolific marketeer Seth Godin: Purple Cow and Free Prize Inside. I had heard a number of people discussing Godin’s latest book and thought I would see what I was missing.
Purple Cow is a battle cry to make remarkable products. It is a passionate plea that a [...]

If you’re an entrepreneur and marketing is an important part of your business (it should be), then you need to get to know Seth Godin. He’s the best-selling author of my favorite marketing book, Purple Cow, and in my opinion is way ahead of his time.
His Blog is the only one I subscribe to by [...]
The video is about "Curiosity". Now that's a very cool word, not only because it gives you a shot at new stuff around but modern day marketers have realized the fact that whom they want to target i.e. early adopters & innovators who are in the fringes and they do the idea-spreading thing. It's curiosity which attracts them to try out new things and if they like it, they tell their friends. And then the word-of-mouth cycle starts. The short video was shot by Nic Askew.By the way, if you are in good mood, then you should read some of the comments in Seth's post. My fav one is this one called "Insatiable Curiosity" by Hjörtur Smárason (Thank god he won't ask me to pronounce it).Now you know why I posted this video. Yes, I fall into that curious category :) and that's why I like Marketi
When Seth Godin Speaks…
…I always listen.
Here’s what Seth had to say recently at the Search Engine Strategies 2007 (SES).
Note: At the time of this blog posting, it appears that Webmaster Radio had either A) removed the audio file or B) are making us pay for it. If the latter is true, I’d actually suggest subscribing [...]

We know there is lots of interest in social media right now from businesses. But there’s also significant hesitation due to lack of case studies and measurement, as well as a general fear of change. Enter Seth Godin’s Meatball Sundae, his latest book focused on the “New Marketing,” set for a December 27th release.
Make no bones about it, this book arrives at the exact time it was needed. Now Corporate America has been told by its most revered marketer that the old ways aren’t working, and that it’s time to change — not just marketing, but also product development — to meet the new conversational media forms.
Seth Godin tells them why they should be a part of the New Marketing. And he does it in his usual creative way: With the meatball allegory, plus 14 trends and a great group of refreshingly new case studies.
This book will make it “safe” for many marketers to really begin actively experimenting with social media. An

For those out there who do not know about the two gentleman in the title. Steve Rubel could be defined as the Nureyev of PR, while I think of Seth Godin as the Gandhi of Marketing.
Why a post on these two nice fellas? Well if you are in events I strongly suggest MicroPersuasion and Seth's Blog as a daily reading. I think you get more useful stuff there than in a complete textbook on the subject.
Last week we had the pleasure of seeing Seth Godin speak at the Tempe Improv. It was definitely an eye-opening and inspiring experience that's made a huge impact on how we look at our company. (and our lives)
Seth Godin linked to this insightful post on Michael Wade's Execupundit.com blog "Note from Boss to Employees". One of my ex-employees told me that her Dad taught her "Your job is to make your boss look good." At the base level this is a great way to approach your job. You help your boos look good, she/he trusts you with more work, better projects etc. and a promotion and raise can't be far behind.Jay Berkowitz, Ten Golden Rules Internet Marketing Consultant Blog

Juice Analytics has an interesting review of Seth Godin's comments about Tufte's favorite infographic - Napolean's March to Moscow. Both Godin and the poster at Juice Analytics thnk the image fails in presenting data in a "simple and to the point" fashion.

Unleashing the Idea Virus by Seth Godin. The book is called "Unleashing the Idea Virus", andit's written by Seth Godin. The book is about viral marketing, which is probablythe most overlooked form of marketing (especially by'newbies') and one of the most powerful as well. Best of all, *most* viral marketing techniques costalmost nothing to put into practice. Seth is one of the best marketers on the planet, andpretty much invented much of what is considered 'mustdo' by today's marketers. Little things like viral marketing and permission basedmarketing were invented by Seth's nimble mind. Fair warning about this book ... it's 197 pages long soyou won't read it in one sitting. But it *is* worth thetime to read. It sells offline for about twenty bucks, but you canhave it free AND give it to others by using thisprivate link. DownloadHere
