      My Experiences With GoDaddy
I wrote quite a lengthy comment on Karen Zara Dwells Here a few months ago and I decided that I should publish it on my own blog too. It’s pretty long about GoDaddy hosting. I’ve included comment number one and then the follow up comment. I’ve also been using GoDaddy for about a year now. Haven’t had a single problem with them that couldn’t be resolved with Customer service within minutes (2 calls). I have used other hosting providers from local ones to Canaca and another one that I can’t remember but they were slow and customer support sucked. One thing that you should watch is the 3rd-4th tier reseller hosting sites that are just horrible. The one that I used before Canaca was like that and they couldn’t do a damned thing to improve my service. Just horrible. Pair Networks is one that I investigated a long time ago that seemed to be pretty good too. As far as I know they are still around and some big named sites are hosted by them. As far as GoDaddy is concerne

GoDaddy Web Hosting causes WordPress search engine privacy issues
If you using GoDaddy‘s default wordpress installer then during installation of sets up it automatically install by default "Search Engine Privacy" settings. Those settings forbid Search Engines to index your website and therefore no matter how much efforts you have it won‘t get you indexed. Actually if you knew about this option, its so easy to switch the button and actually disable it and enable search engines to visit your website and actually get indexed, but in most of the cases people don‘t know about it or others don‘t look for it since we all know that the default settings for search engine privacy is disabled on new wordpress installations.Read more GoDaddy Web Hosting causes WordPress search engine privacy issues

      GoDaddy Applications
I’ve been hosting this website on GoDaddy for five months now and I’ve been incredibly happy with the experience.  Server uptime has been reliable, the administrative interface is very smooth and easy to user, and at $4.95/month, the price is right. Something I hadn’t realized until this morning, though, is the suite of applications they offer.  Open Source apps and frameworks such as Wordpress, Moodle, Drupal, Joomla and a collection of content management systems, wikis and eComerce solutions are all available from GoDaddy with every hosting account. Once logged on to your account, one need only enter a few bits of information such as admin account login/password, and the location within the domain where each app should reside.  GoDaddy takes care of the rest and lets you know when the process is complete.  Now, of course each of these apps is something you could install and configure yourself with some work.  But where else are you going to find a system that g

Set up your free GoDaddy hosting account
When you purchase a domain from GoDaddy, you will be entitled to a free ad-supported hosting account. This is great for bloggers who may need to set up a redirection page to their true blog address. I've been asked a few times now how to set up this free hosting account, so I thought it was about time I posted a walk through! Assuming you have already purchased a domain name from GoDaddy, you should have your login details and be able to log in to your GoDaddy account. Once you have your login details to hand, this is what you should do: Log in to your GoDaddy account manager. Select "Hosting account list" from the "Hosting and email menu" in the navbar near the top of the page. This will open the "manage hosting page" On this page, you should see a link saying "Use credit" next to "Free Hosting Credits". Click on this link to open the next page. On the right, you should now see "set up free hosting". Select the domain you would like to associate your hosting account with, and cho

How to set up your Blogger custom domain with GoDaddy
This post is originally from my other blog, Glamumous. I decided to reproduce it here so you readers can easily find other information linked to this subject.I used GoDaddy to register my domain name, as this company seemed the cheapest dot.com domain provider, and also because they supply a free email address and basic hosting account with each domain, which has come in rather handy. However, I'd read quite a few complaints about using GoDaddy for custom domains with Blogger hosting, so I was rather careful to make sure I did everything correctly! Please do note that you can only link your site as http://yoursite.com or http://www.yoursite.com. Not both. It just doesn't work that way. My advice is to use the www prefix, and if you can make a simple redirect page in your host root, as I'll explain laterI followed Blogger's advice to the letter, and everything works fine. Here are the basics of their tutorial, or you can read the whole thing yourself on this page.Buy your chosen domai

With the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers' (ICANN) approval, GoDaddy.com this week obtained all 850,000 generic top-level domain (gTLD) names previously held by RegisterFly. Existing RegisterFly customers will be able to access and manage their domain names from GoDaddy's website. Over the last year, much has occurred at RegisterFly; and the result was unhappy customers, phone calls unanswered and a barrage of mismanagement. In March of this year, ICANN terminated RegisterFly's status as an ICANN-accredited registrar due to allegations of corporate fraud. It was noted in a lawsuit that co-owner Kevin Medina used corporate funds for personal use. In fact, co-owner John Naruszewicz filed a suit claiming that Medina had spent $27,000 on escort services, $6,000 on liposuction and $10,000 per month o

      A BIG Minus for GoDaddy
Here is my story about the new idea I had to make money. IDEA I had this idea for a very cool site that I thought would make me a ton of money, but I could not figure out a good domain name for it.  I thought of two different names, but only 1 .net domain was available and no .com domains.  But then I switch it it up and came up with the perfect domain name.  I went to the .com domain, and it was for sale.  I emailed the owner and told him I would spend $15 for it.  I would have went up to $25, but I wanted some bargaining room.  He emailed me back and told me that the domain would normally cost $5,000 - $10,000, but he would sell it to me for $3,000.  I emailed him back (he seemed like a nice guy as he visited this site and said there was some things I could do to optimize it), and I told him I would go $25 tops and sorry for wasting his time. GoDaddy I visited the site a few days later, and the registration had expired.  The owner had a few days left to re-reg

      Another Plus for GoDaddy
I get a call this afternoon from some strange number, a 480 area code. I didn’t answer it because I was outside working on my daughter’s swingset, but they left a voicemail. It was a customer service rep from GoDaddy asking me if I had any questions pertaining to the domain purchase I made.  This is the first company that I had purchased a product from them to ever call me.  Took me by surprise.  I have liked GoDaddy since I bought the .info domains for 99 cents, and this just adds to it.  I may give the guy a call back because I backordered a domain, and I wanted some more information on how that works.  I will talk about that more this weekend as I tell more about my other internet endeavors. 1and1 vs. GoDaddy
I have bought domains with both of these companies, and I have to tell you, there is a huge difference. I always thought buying a domain name for a company was a pretty standard process, and that the company you bought the domain from did not matter. I was wrong. I have bought 4 domains now with 1and1, and my buddies at work have each bought some from them. They have lower prices than most of the other domain registration companies, but that is about their only good selling point. They are very slow to register the domain, and changing the DNS takes hours and hours. After registering a domain, it takes about 3 days for the domain to actually be usable. It may take more time because the configuration is confusing, and if you have the wrong settings, it adds a day or two. I have bought two domains with GoDaddy, two .infos for 99 cents each. When you buy the domain, you can change the nameservers so you don’t have to waste time like 1and1 waiting for them to change. Also

GoDaddy.com Gamethread:3/21:Cubs vs Rangers 3:05 CST: What is vs What was
Well well well. You used to be the hero of a lot of Chicagoans.  In 1998, you brought a bitter suburbanite back to baseball.  One kid who had played and breathed baseball his entire life but was sick of the absolute greed of the owners and players.  This boy was like a lot of people during the late 90's who still had a sour taste in their mouth.  You brought us back.. You gave us a reason to love the game again?  What happened? You became a big headed prick. You let our love for you consume you.. You went from...

      GoDaddy.com Gamethread:3/20:Cubs vs Rockies 3:05 CST: T-13 days
Ted Lilly is back on the rubber for the Cubs as they face off against the Colorado Rockies. My mouse is broken, so expect this to be a boring half-assed edition of the gamethread. Opening Day is 13 days away.  Keep in mind that then the stats count.. and I really hope that the Cubs don't set me up for the type of year they had last year.. As of this time the Rockies haven't said who will start for them. Seeing as how they're taking this whole faith-based team concept too far, I'd say maybe they plan to start

GoDaddy.com's Gamethread 3/19: Cubs vs Mariners 3:05 CST AND Brewers vs Cubs 3:05 EST
Well,Well, I hope the weekend off has refreshed you, as I suspect many of you are just now starting to sober up from your St, Patrick's Day weekend.  This thread is brought to you in part by Go Daddy.com.. Which is just a cheap excuse to post this: The new official spokesperson of the Cubsfan2883's Game Thread, Candace Michaels The Cubs play two games today, one against the Mariners and one against the Brewers.  The race for the fifth spot will hopefully be a little clearer after today's games as Wade Miller will take the hill for the North Siders.  In the other, and btw far more interesting game, The Cubs will face off against the Brewers.  Why is a game against the Brewers that much more interesting? Because my heros and yours, Sean's Marshall and Gallagher will both take the hill for the Cubbies.  Gallagher will get his first Spring Training Start for the Cubs.. Marshall is set to pitch his first game in relief.

GoDaddy - This is Customer Care?
Recently, GoDaddy made a very bad decision. They received a complaint that an email was not correct in the WhoIs database. They sent the domain owner an email, requesting that the email be corrected. They received no reply. In a very lazy fashion, without attempting to call or snail-mail the owner, they canceled his domain and resold it to someone else. What the hell is that??They could have at least made an attempt to communicate their concern by some other method before taking such a drastic step. That possibly placed someone's livelihood on the chopping block and lopped off it's head.I have no problem with saying that it is every domain owner's responsibility to make sure their information is correct, but how many times has email failed you? Someone sends you something and it goes south into cyberspace, never to be seen again? Come on, GoDaddy, use some common sense before you end up doing this to a large business with a gaggle of lawyers behind them. Then, you could be in mucho t
