Ah the Power Glove, probably one of the most infamous gaming accessories ever made. Although it was an official product Nintendo took nothing to do with it's development and I think that shows. Now that spring has sprung it's time for me to do some preliminary garden work. To be prepared for dirty jobs like raking leaves, pulling weeds and digging in the soil great gardening gloves are essential. I can't wait to try out my new pair from The Roc Bamboo Collection from Magid Gloves. Made from 100% bamboo fiber they're very lightweight and breathable, so they're sure to make long days in the sun easier. The nitrile coated palms provide a really good grip so things won't slip out of my hand. They also come in different sizes so I was able to get a pair that fits perfectly. Look for these cool gardening gloves in your nearby Walgreens.

Baseball gloves need to be broken in before use in order to provide a proper fit and play a better game. Different players have different methods of breaking in a baseball glove, and these differing techniques are generally viewed as a personal preference. There are two basic goals in breaking in a glove. First, you want to soften the leather so that the glove is pliable and moves well with your hand. Second, you want to form a pocket or molding an area in the palm of the glove so that it will catch and the baseball tightly. A number of different lotions can be used to soften the leather of a baseball glove. These include: * Foam shaving cream * Manufacturer's solutions * Lexol leather conditioner * Pure petrolium jelly In order to soften the leather, less oil, soap or cream is best. Us

OneColdHand.com - Glove LoveWhat it doesWe've all fallen prey to the mischievous missing glove at one time or another. They've gone missing on us in cold, frosty parks, in a long forgotten parking lot, on benches, under beds, and worst of all the winter clothes closet doomed to be forever trapped under your old fashion beanie gammy knit you. Never fear, One Cold Hand is here to help you find your lost glove (in Pittsburgh for now, coming soon to a neighborhood near you). Its founder Jennifer Gooch started the site after finding a lost glove on her Carnegie Mellon campus. She took it home and in its stead, placed a note inscribed with the fateful words 'Missing a glove? Onecoldhand.com'. So far 21 gloves have found their way onto the site, hoping to be reunited with their partners. Should you be missing a glove, rest assured you've got at least someone looking out for you.In their own words"onecoldhand.com is a project that connects the Pittsburgh community through one unfor
Today, it was cold. So cold in fact that my normal winter gloves couldn't keep my hands warm. What a drag. But that's when I decided to try my new glove liners out. They look like thin gloves that barely keep your hands warm. But like Ma always said, "Dress in layers." You put the liners on your hands first, then the gloves over them. Awesome. You can immediately feel the new thickness that's sure to keep your digits warm.A couple of hours later outside, and my hands were still doing well. Not super warm, but far from as cold as they had been to begin with. This is the first time I've ever used glove liners, but it most definitely won't be my last.My last will be on December 21, 2012.

The fact that the Los Angeles Dodgers' Russell Martin won the Gold Glove award over St. Louis' Yadier Molina isn't just ridiculous - it's laughable. A joke. The Gold Glove awards have been lacking credibility for some time - anybody remember Rafael Palmeiro's award at first base after playing less than 30 games there? - but it's almost at the point where they should be scrapped altogether. Because really, they mean nothing.Martin is an outstanding player, and he's a much better hitter than Molina. But defensively, they're not in the same stratosphere. And with catchers, it's about more than just errors. It's holding runners on, throwing them out, calling a game, etc. In fact, I won't even have to make the argument for Molina. I'll just go ahead and let others do it for me, from both local
Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis won the American League Gold Glove for the first base position. Youkilis played 135 errorless games for the Red Sox, which is just amazing and shows how good Youkilis is at first base. Congratulations to Kevin Youkilis. From a RedSox.com article:Youkilis is the first Boston Red Sox player to win a Gold Glove since Jason Varitek in 2005, and the 15th Red Sox winner since Gold Gloves were first awarded in 1957. Teammates Dustin Pedroia and Coco Crisp, whose outstanding defensive seasons made them buzz-worthy candidates, if not favorites, were nevertheless denied Gold Gloves. For Youkilis, Tuesday's announcement wrapped up what had mostly become a forgone conclusion. The star first-sacker was the only first baseman in either league to finish with as many as 1,080 errorless chances at his position. Kansas City's Ryan Shealy was second, with 432.Youkilis' year at first was so great, in fact, that history struggles to provide an adequate comparison. On S
This Snowboard glove control for the iPod is not a commercially available product yet and might never appear in shops but it is an interesting concept demonstrator that shows a different approach compared to the many ’standard’ solutions of iPod controls in clothing, bags and gloves.
What I like on this demonstrator is the use of metallic buttons that are connected to the electronics via conductive thread that is used to sew them on.
Bringing two of those buttons together will close the circuit and activate whatever function is assigned to those two buttons.

The usability in the demonstrated form might be not that great but this simple and unique idea could/should inspire others to create more diversity for Wearable Electronic products by using ‘everyday’ items fo the fashion world and transform them into something more intelligent.

I'm loving gloves right now: the long, dramatic, peel-them-off-your-fingers kind. This is what they looked like at the fall Narcisco Rodriguez show:Lovely, no? I can only imagine the price on a pair of those. And I've been seeing lovely pairs for not so lovely prices, so I've gone looking for other options. These are only $145 at Nordstroms, and that's not a bad price. However, I think what I'm going to do is knit myself a pair of these: In gorgeous golden cashmere yarn, won't they be delectable? From the Winter 2007 issue of Knit.1.

What should have been about a 6 1/2 hour spacewalk was cut down to 4 hours because one of the astronauts, Rick Mastacchio, found a hole in one of his gloves. The hole did not extend through all of the layers in his glove, but to be safe NASA ordered him back into the airlock.
Mission Control has says that he was not in danger, and that it was only a precaution to bring Mastacchio in. The other astronaut, Clay Anderson, wrapped up what he was doing outside on the International Space Station and came in also. Mastracchio said that he was “doing good,” and said that he was just “looking out the hatch, wishing I was out there.”
Since glove damage was discovered las December it is a standard procedure for astronauts to inspect their gloves about every 30 minutes to make sure their is no damage. Shortening this spacewalk didn’t cause too much of a set back because most of what was to be completed on this spacewalk was, except for getting some experiments

Finger puppets are always a cure for the summer boredom and these are a fun and novel twist to a traditional craft. Cut the fingers from a rubber glove (I used pinking shears on these to make the zig zag edge) and decorate each with googly eyes, pipe cleaners, feathers, pom poms, sequins, netting, paper, felt and anything else a dashing bug deserves. (We ran out of enough googly eyes so we were forced to make a few cyclopes). The stiff rubber easily fits on little fingers and the colorful surface makes decorating fun.Check in with Rocks in My Dryer every Wednesday for other good tips.Technorati tags: WFMW, crafts, children, summer vacation
Little information is currently available concerning this heart beat monitor that fits your hand like a glove (very nearly a pun there) except to say that it does away completely with the need to wear a chest belt in order to continuously monitor your pulse during training.
The PM100 works by via Plethysmography whereby an inbuilt sensor measures the light reflected from the bloodstream within an artery – in this case an artery in your finger.
Developed by the German company Beurer GmbH, we strongly suspect that the PM100 Pulse Monitoring Glove will rapidly become a fashion must have in the world’s gyms once it’s released (let it not be said that we don’t have our finger on the pulse here at TFTS) – though the fact that if you clout the annoying chap on the running machine next to you with this on its going to seriously hurt has, we suspect, absolutely nothing to do with it.
As yet no information concerning pricing or availability has been released.

Next week the first Wearable Technologies Congress will be held in Munich Germany and some of the innovative technologies that will be exhibited have already been made public. From German company Beurer GmbH comes this beltless heart rate monitor that’s based on a technique called Plethysmography. I’ve never heard of it either but apparently it uses a sensor to measure light that is reflected by the bloodstream in the finger artery. Not only can this be used to measure your pulse but it can also be used to keep track of your blood pressure. The LCD screen provides constantly updated information on your physical condition while the glove design is made to feel like a second skin rather than a large bulky watch. That makes it ideal for athletes who won’t have to worry about it falling off or bouncing around during physical activities. There’s no word on when the glove might see production but if you’re interested in the whole ‘wearable technologies’ scene you might want to ch

Researchers at Engineered Fibre Structures (EFS), a University of Manchester spin-out, are very close to give us just this, a soft-fabric electronic glove that remotely controls equipment via a Bluetooth connection.
The glove is produced from standard acrylic or stretch-nylon base yarn and it can be made on a conventional industrial knitting machine. The wearable device looks and feels like a normal glove, except it has conductive pathways knitted into the material. The fingers are tipped with contactors, so if you put your thumb together with any other finger, you create a electric circuit and pang, you can activate anything that is designed to receive those signals.
