The televised Golden Globe Awards ceremony will be replaced by a press conference this Sunday as a result of the ongoing writers' strike. Organizers announced their decision on Monday to avoid a celebrity-less event after the Screen Actors Guild pledged its members would not cross the Writers Guild Of America's picket line. The 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards had been due to take place at the Beverly Hilton hotel in California. Instead, a news conference will take place to announce the winners of each category. Depending on where you live, the winter is drawing in now, it actually gets dark here in the UK around 5.00pm, but on a bright day garden lights these ones will charge up and when it gets dark they will give off a nice warm glow.

It’s awards season here in Blogland. Every time we turn around someone has gotten nominated for some cool award or another- Top 100 Mom Blogs, the Bloggers Choice Awards, the Best of Blogs awards, they are everywhere.
It’s understandable there are bloggers out there who might feel a little left out. (Kudos to TableforFive for having the cajones to blog about it!) Who can blame them? I think when we sit home with our popcorn watching the Emmys, Oscars, Golden Globes, or whatever, we all dream of being up there accepting that award. Doesn’t matter that we are not actresses, it doesn’t matter that we are not 5′9 and size 0, it doesn’t matter that we don’t have the $10k to shell out on a vintage Valentino, not to mention the lipo and boob job we’d need to hold such a thing up. We want to be there anyways. To feel special, to feel glamorous, to feel important.

This post isn't about the film and TV honors given out last night; it's not about handicapping Oscar season; it's not even about the Golden Globes broadcast itself ('cause I forgot to watch). It's about how the people who attended looked in the photos I snagged from Yahoo this morning (photos provided to Yahoo by NBC and/or Steve Granitz/WireImage.com).
For instance, Helen Mirren looked glorious, from the incredible color (everyone should wear peacock blue every chance they get) to the jewelry to that great "it's in the bag, bitches" gleam in her eye.Once again, Mirren proves that it's damn good to be the queen. She won Globes for playing *both* HRH Elizabeths.
Globes in stereo and a smooch from Terence Howard: screw the monarchy, it's good to be Helen Mirren.
It was also very good to be Eddie Murphy, not only because he won a much-deserved Globe but because he and his date looked stunning.

I'm one of those people who notices hair--both my own and others. So it's only natural that I would scope out the hair of what are considered the most fashionable, chic women who show up for the Golden Globe Awards every year.
Here is my run-down of who I thought looked great and who didn't in 2007 at the Globes:
The list of the hairstyles on the actors I liked is much longer than the ones I didn't. Some of my favorites were: Evangeline Lilly, Beyonce, Jessica Biel, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Hudson, Penelope Cruz, Drew Barrymore, Ali Larter, Scarlett Johansen, and Angelina Jolie. Salma Hayek looked divine with her dark hair and white, sexy dress. She stole the show which wasn't easy to do.
The hairstyles I didn't like were: Sharon Stone--way too matronly! Sienna Miller--what was she thinking with that thick alpine braid going across the top of her head with the messy back part?! Cameron Diaz--I liked her better as a blond, and her lipstick w
Project Runway was well represented last night at The Golden Globe Awards with Heidi Klum leading the charge wearing what turned out to be the popular color choice for the evening. Seal was not a winner, however Heidi looked her usual gorgeous self.Tim Gunn was also on hand to comment on the fashion for The Today Show. Dapper and dashing as always, he got to share the desk with Matt Lauer this morning. Our favorite line: "...women were wearing strapless dresses out the kazoo... (but) the kazoos were contained." HA!
