Italdesign Giugiaro has been releasing teaser images of its Quaranta concept at an agonizingly slow pace for weeks now, but has finally dropped all its got on the car just days before it will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The Quaranta is actually inspired by the 1968 Bizzarrini Manta concept, and the two take the wedge shape to an extreme. The Quaranta's claim to fame is that it houses a mid-mounted hybrid powertrain supplied by a Toyota. The 3.3L V6 combined with Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive produces a combined 268 horsepower and 212 pound feet of torque, which Italdesign claims is good for a 4.05 second run to 62 mph in the lightweight and perfectly balanced Quaranta. Giugiaro will be showcasing its own Vadhò hydrogen concept car at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, the design house’s first attempt at an all-green vehicle. Built off a unique platform, the Vadhò is powered by the same hydrogen fueled 6.0L V12 as used by BMW’s Hydrogen 7 mated to a semi-sequential automatic transmission. The purpose of the new concept car, as Giugiaro puts it, is to “’spur discussion” and showcase design trends for future vehicles powered by alternative fuels. Besides the clean powerplant, the Vadhò features a jet fighter-style tandem two-seater configuration, with dual controller joysticks and electronic drive by-wire technology.The Vadhò will be joined by another Giugiaro-designed concept car developed with Daihatsu. Labeled the D-Compact X-Over, the new concept is a preview of a new production model designed as a European B-segment car.[Source: Motor Authority]Two more images after the jump.

Forgoing a traditional steering wheel, the Vadhò picks up two joystick controllers that can be positioned in either left- or right-hand drive configurations thanks to electronic by-wire technology. The designers have also used the concept car to feature Italdesign-Giugiaro's brand new logo, placing a large red G on the hood of the car.
