AMI Mourn's Loss Of Giambi Lip Fur
It lived a life most of us would envy. But in the end, Jason Giambi’s mustache never really had a chance, and ended up in a bathroom basin, dead after less than a few months of life. The American Mustache Institute salutes Mr. Giambi and his mustache, for having the bravery to walk proudly down the same lines upon which other great Yankee mustaches have — including Reggie Jackson, Thurman Muns

Well. Maybe I was really wrong about Jason Giambi. He just smashed a no doubter into the upper deck to give the Yankees a fantastic walk off win 9-8. The Yanks clawed back from a five run deficit to pull off the win so that is always encouraging.Jorge did not reinjure his shoulder (at least I don't think) so that is huge as well. Farnsworth was Farnsworth and gave up a run, but a huge credit to

Jason Giambi: "The thong works every time."

Deeper than his compulsion to sleep on the side of the bed nearest the door, and darker than his dream of growing up to be a heavy-metal musician. THE GIANT-BINO! GIAMBI HEADED WEST?
There is a buzz going around the Bay area that the Yankees and Giants are discussing a deal that would send Jason Giambi to the Giants in return for Barry Zito. There also would be a swap of some minor leaguers included in the deal. The sticking points are how much of Zito's $126 contract the Giants will pay and if Zito is willing to restructure the payments of the rest. Zito's agent is Scott Boras.Zito is under contract five more seasons at an annual average cost of $18.9 million.Giambi, who is from the bay area, will get $20 million from the Yankees this season and is a free agent at the end of the year.Zito is 0-4 with a 9.68 ERA and has been removed from the rotation by manager Bruce Bochy."I'm certainly not happy with it, by any means," Zito said. "But this is the bed that I've made.

      Giambi Needs To Go
In 15 games played for the Yankees this season Jason Giambi is five for forty-six, has ten strikeouts and is batting a very robust 1.09 (haha not). Now to be fair he has walked eleven times and hit two homeruns with 11 RBI's (yay!!!).On the other hand Shelley Duncan has been wasting away for 11 games with Scranton Wilkes/Barre going thirteen for forty with six doubles, four homeruns and 10 RBI's and batting an extremely healthy .345.Can anyone explain to me what Girardi is trying to accomplish here???

Giambi's Struggles Continue, but Girardi Remains Confident
Brian Costello of the New York Post discusses Jason Giambi's horrible start, but don't worry fans, Joe Girardi is still confident in his struggling first baseman:"I think his at-bats have been pretty good," Joe Girardi said. "Like I've said all along, he's run into bad luck. He's hit some balls hard. I really don't have any concerns with him. I think he's going to be really productive."I really wish he weren't so confident. If I were Girardi I'd bench Giambi until he learns how to bunt the ball towards 3rd base, cause unless Mike Timlin is on the mound that's that's the only way he's going to get a hit.And why can't Ensberg get any playing time? In four games he's hit .385 (5-for-13) with a HR and an RBI, Giambi has hit .125 (5-for-40) with 2 HR (both off Timlin) and 6 RBI in thirteen game

Selig Says Giambi Faces No Suspension
MLB Commissioner Bud Selig released a statement Thursday saying that he was pleased with the cooperation he received from New York Yankees DH Jason Giambi, and that the player would receive no punishment. And so ends another sad chapter in Baseball as we know it in 2007, as we are immersed in an era in the entire World Of Sports that future historians may aptly name the "Scandal Age." The reason I call this a sad chapter, is that if handled correctly by Selig and the rest of the MLB Brain-Trust, could have ushered in an era of trust and Baseball could have started to recover some of it's integrity after the strike of 1994, and the "Steroid Era." In an interview with USA Today Baseball writer Bob Nightengale back in May, the New York slugger who had testified in front of a Grand Jury in 2003, told the reporter that he regretted taking "that stuff." Giambi also chastised MLB for not clearing the air on the steroid issue. He said that Baseball should have come clean a long time ago, on a

New York Yankees designated hitter Jason Giambi, who is currently on the disabled list, agreed on Thursday to a meeting with MLB Chief Steroid Investigator George Mitchell. Earlier this week reports surfaced that MLB Commissioner Bud Selig had demanded Giambi agree to a meeting with the former U.S. Senator by Thursday, or face possible punitive actions. Giambi released a statement on Thursday, saying that he alone was responsible for his actions and never tried to infer anything differently. The Commissioner's office also released a statement saying that they were glad that a meeting had been agreed to and it would be scheduled shortly.(C) Copyright thesackattack.com 2007

      MLB Continues Giambi Witch Hunt
There is an old saying, no good deed goes unpunished, New York Yankees DH Jason Giambi is walking proof of that.According to published reports MLB Commissioner Bud Selig has given the New York Yankees player until Thursday to set up a meeting with former U.S. Senator George Mitchell, or face disciplinary action. Selig first requested that Giambi meet with Mitchell on June 6, apparently the request is now a directive. Mitchell heads up the team that is investigating steroid use in MLB. Giambi's mess started when he gave an interview to USA Today saying he regretted taking "that stuff", and that Baseball should have issued an apology long ago to the fans. Giambi is currently on the disabled list with a foot injury. The Thursday deadline is to set up a meeting, it does not have to be held by that date.Giambi to his credit was trying to clear the air, and get MLB past the era, where every power hitter is now looked at with suspicion. as I have stated before on this site, MLB Management an

Numbers Don't Lie - Yankees Better Off Without Giambi
Could the recent surge of the once left for dead New York Yankees be tied to the fact that media magnet Jason Giambi is sitting on the sidelines? That's the opinion of Wallace Matthews in todays edition of Newsday, who says that Giambi's recent injury has actually sparked the Yankees, who have won six in a row and are back within 9.5 games of the Red Sox in the AL East. Matthews points out that since Giambi has missed 10 game, the teams offense has suddenly hit the ball well, including players like Bobby Abreu, who has hit .500 in that time, Melkly Cabrera is hitting .378, A-Rod .371 and Jorge Posada .364.With Giambi's foot healing, the decision of what to do with him upon his return is going to be an important decision for Joe Torre. He was quoted in the paper as saying "We still have to go with what's best for us. When we get closer to that time, we'll figure it out, but right now, it seems all right." That type of statement does not bode well for Giambi, who with his stupi

Giambi Expected To Miss Three Weeks
New York Yankees Designated Hitter Jason Giambi is probably glad to see the month of May come to an end. Giambi, who has been courting controversy the last couple of weeks after an interview with USA Today now has some physical obstacles to overcome. The Yankees announced on Thursday that Giambi was going on the 15 day disabled list after suffering torn tissue in the arch of his left foot. Giambi will be fitted with a walking boot. A spokesman for the Yankees, said Giambi will be reevaluated in three weeks. Giambi started the controversy after giving an interview to USA Today's Bob Nightengale saying he regretted taking "that stuff", and that MLB owed the fans an apology. Giambi Case Now in the Hands of Selig
The whole Jason Giambi case now appears to be in the hands of MLB Commish Bud Selig, as it will be up to him if any discipline will come the way of the Yankees slugger. Wednesday league officials questioned Giambi, who last week stated that the league should say its sorry to the public over the amount of time that the league shunned the illegal drug issue with players.Lawyers have already said that a suspension of Giambi is unlikely to take place, simply because Giambi said that he used steroids prior 2005, and even though the steroids ban took place in 2002, players could only be suspended for a first offense if it involved a criminal conviction. Suspensions for a first positive test didn't start till 2005. There has been whispers that the Yankees may want to void the mega-$120 million dollar deal that they have with Giambi, but it appears that the team does not have the grounds to terminate that deal. The Yankees did not have a rep at the meeting on Wednesday, and were told not

In the interview Giambi stated that he regretted taking "that stuff", and said that MLB owed the fans an apology for the cloud of controversy that hung over the game. Baseball players union general counsel Micheal Weiner confirmed that a meeting with MLB Commissioner Bud Selig was requested to talk about the interview. Giambi said that he thought the meeting went well, and that no followup meeting was scheduled. Daily News: Giambi Failed Test Last Year
Based on his comments last week that he was "probably tested more than anybody else," word comes out today that Yanks slugger Jason Giambi failed an amphetamines test within the last year according to the Daily News. The report says that due to the fact he failed the test, he had to take 6 more tests in the last year. Giambi is already in hot water after making comments last week that Major League Baseball should say it's "sorry" to the fans for not making the steroid issue a bigger issue and trying to get it cleaned up.Giambi also quoted himself as being a user, but claims now he is clean. "I was wrong for doing that stuff," he was quoted as saying last week. Lawyers for MLB are interested in talking to Giambi about those comments, and the league is also looking into a possible meeting with him. Is This an Admission? Jason Giambi
As we know, the steroids and the issue of performance enhancement are the big story in the media today. Just this morning, prominent slugger and New York Yankee, Jason Giambi believes it’s time for baseball to come clean about the issue of steroids. From ESPN: Claiming he's likely been tested for performance-enhancing drugs more often than anyone, Giambi told USA Today in a story on its Web site Friday that the apology is long overdue. "Unfortunately, [the rumors] are going to be a part of it. But that's OK. I'm probably tested more than anybody else. I'm not hiding anything," Giambi told the newspaper. "That stuff didn't help me hit home runs. I don't care what people say, nothing is going to give you that gift of hitting a baseball." "I was wrong for doing that stuff," Giambi said Wednesday before the Yankees played the Chicago White Sox. Giambi Tries to Shift Blame to League for Roid Problems
Excuse me? Here is what Giambi is quoted to saying to USA Today about the issue - one that he says is now not the fault of the players - but of the game itself. "We should have apologized back then and made sure we had a rule in place and gone forward. ... Steroids and all of that was a part of history. But it was a topic that everybody wanted to avoid. Nobody wanted to talk about it." Nobody wanted to talk about it not because the game wanted to overlook it, but because the players were hiding it. If players were not afraid to take the stuff in the first place, and then hide it, it would not have become an issue. Now players like Giambi, who if he likes it or not cheated to get ahead, are basically saying that the game allowed the use of the illegal drugs to get ahead. And now that the game is trying to right itself with testing and what not, Giambi says it's the games fault in the first place for not pushing harder to test?
