Stupendous news has reached my ability to comprehend awesomeness; Ghostbusters 3 is happening at last, with Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis producing and featuring the voices of all the original Ghostbusters. But rather than coming to a screen near you, the jump-suited New Yorkers will be arriving at a living room near you… Or, indeed, in your living room. Ghostbusters 3 is being produced by Vivendi Games and the story is being written by Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis. Well with the collapse of widespread muni-wifi and the questionable future of WiMax maybe the best we can hope for is the signficantly less ambitious free but sponsored wifi of the days of yore. Ok I will admit that was a pretty lame and corniferous, but story behind the headline is actually pretty interesting. It appears that the next Ghostbusters project is not a movie but an actual videogame! Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis, who starred in the two Ghostbusters films in 1984 and 1989 respectively, will give their voice and likeness rights for the game. Aykroyd and Ramis will also write a story for the game which will take place in the early 1990s, post-Ghostbusters II, in what will be a new ghoul invasion of New York City. Ghostbusters (1984) is a very funny film, a sci-fi/horror/comedy hybrid that represented the comedic apex of collaborators Ivan Reitman, Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis. Big budget laughers tend to be duds, but this movie defied all expectations and genres and has become the favorite of many.
