"This is a foine country, Bridget!" exclaimed Norah, who had but recently arrived in the United States. "Sure, it's generous everybody is. I asked at the post-office about sindin' money to me mither, and the young man tells me I can get a money order for $10 for 10 cents. Think of that now!"

Koh Sukhorn to Krabi Town, Thailand
Getting back to the mainland involved repeating the process of what we went through when coming to the island. The hotel had a budget transfer option that left a 7am, but this was too early for us, so we were told that they would [...]
ABQjournal Metro: 'Extreme' Dream Home: Family Still in Awe of New House and Generosity That Went Into Building It: "Some three months after Gerald Martinez and his family's Trumbull neighborhood property was transformed, thanks to 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,' it's all still sinking in. 'Let me tell you what I do every day when I get up,' said Martinez, lead pastor at Joshua's Vineyard Mission Outpost. 'I look around, and I'm shocked. Every time I walk into the house, I stop at the entryway and I look around, and I'm flabbergasted."Albuquerque MLSRio Rancho Real Estate News Albuquerque Real Estate News
The business of some webapp startups are heavily depending on the wishes of bigger players in the Internet world. If the bigger ones are more generous, the small webapp starups will have a hard time.Formerly, we have to pay to store our pics on line, then sites such as flickr.com and photobucket.com can give your much space for pic storage. The business model of photobucket.com is simple: free membership+ premium membership (more storage space). But when the cost of storage is decreasing so rapidly, the question of the sustainability of this business strategy is harder to answer. But one can have reasons to worry about it. Some image sharing site, such as shareapic is aggressively paying people to unload their pics with unlimited pictures storage and No file size restrictions. So, you can

I was thinking that there are a bunch of rich people out there who could possibly make a difference by giving most of their funds to efficient, useful causes and organizations. But then I imagined a negative version of the scenario. Negative and perhaps common sense.Say Angelina Jolie decides to be good to mankind, and give away everything she owns, all her millions of dollars, in an effort to start and spread a campaign under which every rich person does the same. This isn't just giving money to people who'll waste it. It's the systematic reorganization of monetary funds in a way that will hopefully benefit all of us. The groups that are working to solve problems and producing results will get the most funding. So Jolie becomes poor, in the hopes that other rich people will help like she

Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice. Psalm 112:5You'll always sleep better at night knowing that you've dealt fairly and generously with others. Sometimes nothing is better than helping out a neighbor in need.
One of the basic Buddhist practices is that of 'Dana' - giving or generosity. Some might call it a virtue, but really its importance is not as a quality that you have but as a practice that you engage in. Buddhism, as an advocate of the life-as-change view of existence, is more interested in verbs than nouns. For each individual the practice of open-handed generosity is importance because it counters the tendency to grasp and hold. It is emptiness in action. On the other hand I live in a country with a wide range of welfare benefits and there are families (not just individuals, but whole families) who appear to believe that society owes them a living. They are capable and healthy yet make their living by accepting state handouts. State handouts are not generosity. The State taxes - it
Yesterday, I saw an activist outside of an eating establishment, handing out pamphlets designed to discourage people from eating meat. I knew better than to actually open the thing, since it had a picture of a pig on the front. I’m pretty sure the inside of the pamphlet contained all kinds of photos of that [...]
This is a follow up from the member's home exchange report published yesterday (catch up with the story in the post below).
'We usually swap with a different size group than ours but we thought our home exchange guests would use four bedrooms to have one each but not every bed! She has since mailed back and apologised for not knowing it was a 4 for a 4 swap (I corrected her on this as 5 was fine with us and had been agreed but pointed out the code of using what you need in an exchange home, not everything available!) She said she thought an exchange meant that she could fill the house how she pleased!!
She said she would pay for the extra charge of laundering the 2 extra beds though. I did mention to her that a home exchange home is not like a rented villa as utilities are paid for by the owner and there could be huge differences in party sizes if not agreed beforehand. She was fine with sending a cheque so that's a good result. We will certainly know for next time to make su
the caption: "HAIR TO SPARE :: Before hitting the Hollywood club scene for the first time since her release from jail, Paris Hilton picks up some boxes of her own line of Clip 'n' Go hair extensions at a Beverly Hills salon on Friday." we know the hair isn't for the cancer crowd because that would be, um, well, you know, human. I betchya, the clip-n-go pare-hair is probably for the homeless. yes, that's gotta be it.
IN PRAISE OF GENEROSITY from THE RIG VEDA translated by Wendy Doniger"The gods surely did not ordain hunger alone for slaughter; various deaths reach the man who is well-fed. The riches of the man who gives fully do not run out, but the miser finds no one with sympathy. The man with food who hardens his heart against the poor man who comes to him suffering and searching for nourishment - though in the past he had made use of him - he surely finds no one with sympathy. The man who is truly generous gives to the beggar who approaches him thin and in search for food. He puts himself at the service of the man who calls to him from the road, and makes him a friend for times to come. That man is no friend who does not give of his own nourishment to his friend, the companion at his side. Let the friend turn away from him; this is not his dwelling place. Let him find another man who gives freely, even if he be a stranger.Let the stronger man give to the man whose need is greater; let him gaze upo

Their Hearts Are Full Of SpringGenre : Indie / Pop / AlternativeFrom: London and South East United KingdomRegular readers of the Devil's blog will know that I have a special place in my heart of this band. Now in addition to spreading their life affirming magical indie pop they have been hit be an unprecedented fit of generosity. The band have just recorded a new version of New Favourite Band with the full THWFOS line-up (Vicky and Alex weren't around when they made the demo, hence the lack of beautiful female voices on the version you can hear here on their myspace site now) so what better time to remind the world of how good the demo was? It's only available for a limited time so you better get your downloading skates on and hot foot it over to the Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring site to download yourself a little piece of heavenly postcardesque jangly crooning. If you like what you see then the band have an album out on another of the Devil's friends, Northern Star Records.Pur
