Rebellion in Gainesville leaves Gators ill with a case of fumble-itis
A quick look at Percy Harvin or Tim Tebow’s numbers would make one think that the Gators coasted to victory over Ole Miss on Saturday. Unfortunately, one needs to look at the fumbles/fumbles lost and the lackluster conversion rate on third downs to understand how the Gators lost to a much lesser opponent. At home…in perfect weather [...]

Gators Utilize Bye and Take Care of Business in Knoxville
I was driving around Gainesville today and saw that the streets were rather empty. I wondered, where was everybody? A few hours later, I turned on my television and saw first hand how well Gator Nation had traveled.  I was stunned to see so many Gator fans who had made the lengthy trip to go support the [...]

“The Gators vs. the Hurricanes Through The Eyes of A Brooklyn Girl”
Growing up in Brooklyn, I watched a lot of baseball with my dad. It was not until age 13, that I realized that the last line of the national anthem was not playball. So now I am a beginner football fan. The phrase “Go Gators” has a little bit of a different [...]

Gators start season with a bang; College Gameday looms
For the first time in years, Tim Tebow was not the driving force behind the Gators domination of the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors yesterday. Handling the Warriors by a score of 56-10, Tebow let his teammates take the spotlight as he managed the quarterback position rather than redefined it. Without stars such as WR Percy Harvin and [...]

      Look out for the Gators
Look out for the "gators" on the road, they're everywhere.A "Gator" is a slang term for a piece of tire tread that has ripped loose from a damaged truck tire.Smaller gators are not a tremendous hazard if you run over them but the larger ones can cause some problems.Perhaps a bigger hazard is a vehicle that swerves to miss one, that's what I saw today which luckily did not cause the accident that

      Gators Grab South Carolina Receiver
The Florida Gators added one of the nation’s top tight ends to their 2009 recruiting class on Monday, landing South Carolina prep star Desmond Parks. A 6-6, 225-pounder with 4.6 speed and great hands, Parks made 29 receptions for 403 yards and five touchdowns last season as a junior at Greer High [...]

      Hatchling Gators
HostGator has been growing in record numbers lately, and hiring employees just as fast. We thought it might be interesting to go around and harass some of the new trainees. Without further ado, meet our new employees as recorded by Justin…The first few people we interviewed for the video started saying how much we sucked, but after canning them the morale suddenly increased as you can see in the above video. The employee culture at HG has generally stayed the same over the years. I started at the company when there were just 4 of us in a small office in Florida, and now we’re closing in on 200 employees in our Houston office. One of the cool things about the company is you’ll see the owner, Brent Oxley, at the office every day working more hours than just about any other employee.

      Because Gators Need TVs, Too
DPS troopers made an interesting arrest this weekend in Brazoria County. This guy, William Johnson, found an alligator on the side of the road so he loaded it into his back seat. Because that is how normal people would deal with that situation. I frequently think, "I better put that gator in my back seat and drive it around!" So, then Johnson decided to stop off at a mobile home and steal a large screen TV (Because gators need TVs, too). Johnson asked a neighbor to help him carry the TV to his car, but the neighbor got a little freaked when he saw the alligator. What a sissy! Because he couldn't carry the TV alone, Johnson decided to abandon the TV in the yard. However, the troops didn't get involved in this whole situation until he did a u-turn on a highway. That suspicious drivi

The Gators Got Chomped-Plus Bonus Football Action
My beloved Georgia Bulldogs beat the Florida Gators!!! Hallelujah! Can you hear the angel choir?  Just kidding!! But, WOW, that was a great game to watch! After the Dawgs scored their first touchdown, the entire team gathered in the end zone to celebrate! Yes, they received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, but it was worth it! That win combined with Kentucky's loss should bump us up pretty far in the BCS ranking. Could we be headed for another SEC championship game? Who knows? In other football related news, this is the craziest game-winning play I've ever seen, people!! We are talking 14 laterals!!! You have to watch it to believe it...

Read our entry on their blog. Posted by Mergz from Saurian Sagacity One Day in September 2000 Our small group of Gator fans walked briskly through the burnt orange crowd, heads slightly down, eyes averted from contact. “Do nothing to provoke them”, I told my friends, “They are already pissed off”. However, they were far more than pissed off – they were downright irate. Everywhere we went on our seemingly endless trek back to our car, Volunteer fans shouted one version or another of the same refrain – “You Gators cheated!” (more…)

Newsweek and Kaplan say home of the Gators is hot, hot, hot
The season of college rankings is upon us, and just in time for the National Championship UF Gators' first kickoff, the 2008 Kaplan/Newsweek "How to Get into College" Guide (on sale Aug. 20) has dubbed Florida's top football school among the nation's 25 "hottest" universities. As part of its annual guide to help families navigate the overwhelming college application and decision process, Newsweek/Kaplan this year created a feature called “The 25 Hottest Schools in America." It takes schools with top academic programs and ranks them according to the "extra buzz" they're generating, according to a company press release. UF, with a championship football team and a basketball team that won the national title two years in a row, was dubbed "Hottest For Sports Fans." Harvard University was named “Hottest for Rejecting You,” but given the enrollment freeze UF just established to save money, it could vie for that title soon. The full list follows. Are the Gators the New Bengals?
The Florida Gators are lucky Roger Goodell isn’t running the NCAA. Tailback Brandon Powell’s Monday arrest for purchasing 8 grams of marijuana made him the 7th Gator to run into trouble with the law since the team won the National Championship 5 months ago. All this comes after a 2006 season that saw numerous other Gators, including a kicker, run afoul of the law. (When a kicker is accused of providing alcohol to a minor and then using a fake ID, you know the team has problems.) Meanwhile, doctors might want to make sure Urban Meyer doesn’t injure his neck from looking the other way too much. “It’s a day-to-day operation,” the coach said last month. “We’ve had a few guys who’ve made some small mistakes, and a guy or two who’ve made some big ones.” Although it was unthinkable just 18 months ago, I’d like to congratulate Florida for officially passing Miami as the worst behaved college football team in the state.

NDSU Bison vs. Florida Gators, could it be?
Rumor from over at the Bison Media Blog is that the NDSU basketball team is trying schedule a game with the two-time defending champion Florida Gators. This is the word from Steve Hallstrom on his blog. "Nothing finalized as of early this evening (Tuesday) with Florida, but I know there was something to be decided one way or another on Tuesday. Now it appears it will be at least late Wednesday. There's been a lot of speculation about it being a tournament, but the way I'm hearing it it's a game with Florida on November 9th. Could be both, who knows. What a way that would be for the Saul era to begin. First game at FL against the 2 time defending champs."Yes, you heard it. There may possibly be a match up between NDSU and Florida. I mean, with Florida's top players gone, I really think NDSU could pull this off. They upset #13 Wisconsin in 2005 and #9 Marquette this past season. And it's not like Florida will be a top 15 team next year, but you never know with Billy Donovan on the s

The Florida Gators have done it again. They officially beat the Ohio State Buckeyes again tonight, this time in basketball. They are the NCAA Men's College Basketball Champions, AGAIN!!! With two back to back basketball championships and a football championship thrown in between, the Florida Gators have officially created their dynasty. They are absolutely a force to be reckoned with. They are the current national champions in two different sports. I believe with March Madness at a close we have become a Gator Nation.

      Can the Florida Gators repeat?
With the National Championship game just hours from the tip off, the headlines are just piling in. Can the Gators repeat? Will this be Greg Oden's final collegiate game? Will Billy Donovan leave Florida for the job at Kentucky? If you were to ask ten people who they would take, i'm sure about 9 of them would take the Gators and rightfully so. The Gators and Buckeyes have played once already this year and Florida destroyed OSU, 86-60 back in late December. But it should be noted that when the two teams matched up, Freshman superstar, Greg Oden, was only playing in his 5th game(4th start). So the notation that he was still adjusting to the College game and seeing how Florida was his first "major" competition it's pretty easy to see why he struggled against Florida's Twin Towers, Joakim Noah and Al Horford. But with that said, i'm sure if you ask any of the Buckeye's, including head coach, Thad Matta, they would not make excuses, but simply say the better team won that day.Things ha

      Florida Gators to make history
The Flordia Gators have officially proclaimed themselves a dynasty. With last years NCAA Men's basketball win against UCLA starting off an incredible Gator journey. Follow that with another Florida win in the NCAA Men's football championship Tostito Bowl, and you have a recipe that would drive any college campus insane. But the Gator appetite was not quite supressed, as they have returned for another win. After dominating the Ohio State Buckeyes in Men's Football, this year they challenge them in Men's basketball. The defending champions will definitly come out to win, but the Buckeyes have a score to settle. No matter the outcome I am sure that Monday nights game is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

      Buckeyes face Gators
The Ohio Stated defeated  Georgetown through the leadership of Mike Conley who finished with 15 points, six assists and five rebounds. The matchup between Oden and Hibbert wasn’t even a factor because of foul trouble. Oden was benched three minutes into the game but eventually scored 13 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes of playing time. Hibbert was great also. He scored 19 points, had six rebounds and one blocked shot in 24 minutes for the Hoyas. While the Gators and their coach has one win away from a second straight championship, trouncing the Bruins 76-66. The heroics of Corey Brewer with 19 points, 16 from Chris Richard and 14 from Lee Humprey. The National Championship game will be played on Monday. Florida will become the first team to go back-to-back since Duke in 1992 with the same starting five. Few months ago we witnessed the same schools in the NCAA football championship,  will the Buckeyes get a revenge?

      Gators Suck Too?
Wow, what a game. The Colts were able to beat the Gators Patriots in the AFC Championship game for a trip to the Super Bowl.  A huge part of the win was Peyton Manning’s play, but ask any UT fan, and they’ll say it was just as much due to a couple of key drops by Reche Caldwell. Tennessee fans will no doubt remember the game against the Gators when Jabar Gaffney caught a phantom touchdown against the Vols to rally to victory in Knoxville (I was at that game, and I cried.  I cried because I knew that no one would ever realize how awesome I was, but it looked like I was crying because we lost the game).  A couple of the Caldwell drops, if the game had been officiated by SEC officials, they would no doubt have been called touchdowns.  Notwithstanding that they weren’t even in the end zone, but you know how it is with those unscrupulous refs. Peyton, unable to defeat the Gators in four tries whilst in college, was able to come back and earn his redemption in a stage

Gators Beat Buckeyes ... Rather Quickly
News: It seemed like there was a lot of talk about speed being the key to the Florida win over Ohio State in the BCS Championship Game.Florida defensive end Jarvis Moss: "Honestly, we've played a lot better teams than them. I could name four or five teams in the SEC that could probably compete with them and play the same type of game we did against them."“The SEC is too fast for the Big Ten,” Florida’s first-team All-American safety Reggie Nelson said.“It’s just a credit to them and how good they really were,” OSU center Dough Datish said. “They were as fast as advertised."Fantasy Impact: Whether or not you subscribe to the SEC being the "fastest" or "elite" conference in reality is completely different than what we face in the fantasy game. On the whole, the SEC is full of RBBC (Running-Back-By-Committee) situations, short passing games, and stifiling defenses. In short, watch out before focusing your draft strategies on the SEC purely for the reputation of the confere

Florida Gators Take 2007 BCS Title
No. 2 ranked University of Florida Gators straight destroyed No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes with a score of 41-14, Monday night at the BCS Bowl, which took place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Many predicted that the OSU Buckeyes would wipeout the Gators in last night’s game, and it seemed as if those predicitons would come true as the Buckeyes scored a touchdown in the first 16 seconds of the game. However, Ohio State with it’s Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith could not hold up to the amazing performance of the Gators’ Chris Leak and Tim Tebow. This is the Gators’ second national title, with their first being over Florida State in 1996. The University of Florida’s basketball team also won the national championship last spring by defeating UCLA in Indianapolis.
