Group Chat Enabled, Proper Smileyes( although limited compared to the Yahoo IM), and tabbed chat windows. All this on the new Talk Gadget from Gmail. Aunque poco a poco me voy dando cuenta que la mayoría de los usuarios de la blogósfera no son partidarios de clientes de mensajería instantánea como Windows Live Messenger y prefieren utilizar el correo de toda la vida, yo aún lo sigo utilizando y tengo muchos amigos personales ahí.
Últimamente parece que está de moda el utilizar GTalk y dejar de lado el WLM por lo que me he visto obligado a utilizarlo pero gracias a la nueva versión de WLM este será compatible con GTalk, ICQ, AIM y clientes Jabber de forma que se convierte en un cliente universal.
Por otro lado estará la API para desarrolladores, lo que de una u otra forma logrará que se expanda aún más el uso de este cliente. Lo más interesante es que están barajando la posibilidad de conseguir audio y vídeo multipersona integrado, pero debido a que no está muy avanzado el tema, es posible que hasta la versión 10 no lo tengamos.
Todo muy bonito, pero hasta finales del 2008 o principios del 2009 nos quedamos igual.

Oggi voglio segnalarvi Anothr, un nuovo servizio web 2.0 che permette di ricevere i feeds direttamente in Gtalk, Msn e Skype.
Ora vi starete chiedendo dove sia l’utilità, ma vi assicuro che tante volte leggere i feed dal proprio reader può diventare una droga, molte volte mi capita di fare inutili reload per vedere se ci sono news, e questa azione alla fine della giornata porta via parecchio tempo ma soprattutto distrazione.
Con questo metodo ho deciso di staccarmi dal reader, infatti grazie ad Anothr appena una news si aggiorna nel feed mi arriva tramite messaggio in chat, nel mio caso ho scelto Gtalk e Skype, come potete vedere nello screenshot soprastante.

Da pochissimo invece se ci provate anche voi potrete visualizzarle e già utilizzarle. Le categorie di emoticons che abbiamo a disposizione sono 3. Nella prima categoria troviamo le iconcine a tema tondo, nella seconda quadrate mentre nell’ultima categoira troviamo quelle minimali che ci sono sempre state.

According to PCWorld, Google Inc. has bought video conferencing software from Marratech AB, for a reported $15 million.
“With its cross-platform conferencing software, Marratech lets people do audio and video conferencing, application sharing and instant messaging. The client software runs on Windows 2000 or XP, Mac OS X 10.4, or versions of Linux including Mandriva 10.2, Suse 9.1 or Fedora Core 2, and requires a Pentium III or G4 processor running at 1GHz or faster.”

Rumours are that google would soon integrate its Google Talk instant messaging and VOIP service into Orkut. Apparently, google talk and Orkut development teams are busy putting the finishing touches on the integration. The announcement will likely be made sometime next week.
