I would be remiss if I didn't share the future with my readers so I now present a short list of features coming to a GPS navigation system near you:
The ability to show all vehicles driving near you on your GPS navigation screen. If one car
Is it possible that GPS navigation systems could save lives? I think it is. Of course I'm partially biased because a woman almost ran me off the road today.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a good look at the woman because she was wearing a large, unfolded paper map on her face.
Now I'm not a driving instructor but I'm pretty sure this kind of driving is frowned upon. And if not, I'm definitely sure

Strada CN-GP50N GPS navigation from Panasonic: "Panasonic introduced a new GPS navigation system at IFA 2007 for the European market called Strada CN-GP50N. The device has a huge screen and a good price at 400€.As opposed to its strong competition in the field, such as TomTom and Garmin, Panasonic decided to focus its experience on the video and audio features of CN-GP50N which made this device more of an entertainment center rather than just plain old GPS navigation. The display on CN-GP50N measures 5″ - leaving their competition 0.7″ behind - hoping to attract consumers who are looking into watching videos in their vehicle.Panasonic incorporates maps of 37 European countries, including 1.3 million points of interest and even 3D city maps of certain locations and landmarks. AnyDrive X1 GPS navigation features external HDD and a remote: " The creative Koreans have come up with another way of selling their 7″ DMB + GPS navigation combo device which seems like a common household item over there from this side of the ocean. This time AnyDrive X1 adds an external 40GB HDD which is actually a media player (MG-25p) that supports all sorts of movie formats including DivX and audio formats such as OGG, WMA9 and more. MG-25p connects to AnyDrive X1 via the USB host but you can also use MG-25p on any display that accepts inputs from AV out cables. We have no info on pricing of AnyDrive X1. The 'for Dummies' brand from Wiley is famous worldwide, and Wiley has taken one step further by fleshing out the FD-35 GPS Navigation for Dummies device. While 2 million Points-of-Interest (POIs) might sound like a lot in theory, it actually isn't enough for most people. Manufactured by Maylog, the jury is still out on the FD-35 GPS navigation device on whether it is user friendly or not. For instance, the specifications claim that the FD-35 contains maps of both US and Canada, but displays an Italian language screen instead. Perhaps that's just a mistake on the graphic artist's part - does anyone else know anything about this? You'll get the FD-35 with each purchase of this book this Fall, just like how the Digital Camera for Dummies book came with a barebones digital camera for you to start snapping.(Via UberGizmo, the Gadgets News Blog.)
