The walk into town from the Regatta Grounds this morning was awesome. One of the best. I don't really know what made it so good. Maybe it was the fact that it was only 3 degrees, the mountain was covered in snow, I had a really enjoyable game of tennis last night (I lost two of my three matches, but really enjoyed all three games), Dave Noonan was doing a really funny crazy call on SeaFM, the

Pre-20th-Century History According to the mythology of Hindus, Delhi was the site of the fabled city of Indraprastha that featured in the Mahabharata over 3000 years ago. The historical evidence, however, indicates that the region has been settled for about 2500 years. Since the 12th century, the city has seen the rise and fall of seven major dynasties. The Chauhans took the control of Delhi in 1

Abu Hurairah related that the Prohet said, “I observe this day in fasting because it was a day in which I was born, and on it the revelation of (Al-Qur’an) was inaugurated.” (Muslim) That was one of how the Monday’s puasa sunat (voluntary fasting) began. And that is how we should celebrate our birthdays. See, a lot of our ibadah are inter-related between man and Allah. But fasting is only for Allah . So if you want anything from Allah , if you want to say thank you, if you want to hold your lust, but not to show your piety, fasting is one of the best ways. It’s not going to bother anybody else, it’s just between you and Allah. There are other ways, of course, such as qiamullail and tahajjud. For me, I can never understand the significance of fire on top of food. Lit candles on

Well, Scotland didn’t qualify for the European Championships next summer after losing in the last minute to Italy. This all sounds just like Scotland. On the brink of success only to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. But to be honest it wasn’t quite like that tonight.
Scotland were in the depths before this qualifying campaign. We were ranked 86th in the world and to be honest that was probably generous. Scotland were dire.
But that’s all changed. Walter Smith took over. He brought in Tommy Burns and Ally McCoist and some organisation and pride. Suddenly Scotland started winning. We were in the group of death. 3 of the 4 semi-finalists from the last World Cup were in our group, France, Italy and Ukraine. We weren’t supposed to do well in that kind of group. But we did. We beat France, twice, Ukraine and but for a last minute goal would have taken a well deserved draw from Italy. Scotland got 21 points in a group we would have do
Belly dancing per se has been around for centuries and the very word brings to mind images of lithe women rolling their bodies sinuously to the call of music. Its origin seems to drift historically between oriental or inspired by the Romany gypsies.

Being the weekend of the most prominent sporting event South Africa has seen (since the ICC Cricket world Cup) - The Rugby World Cup - I have chosen beer as the theme for this post. Aside the beer, the following all have viral properties, but that is where the similarities end.
This commercial was made by Carlton and United Beverages to promote the first pale lager in Australia to be marked as low-carbohydrate, containing a mere 0.9grams per 100ml.
This pure and ethereal scene - the fact that both blonde women and men ('bout bloody time) are floating around in minimal pieces of white cloth and the humorous angle (barring the opening of the beer with the dove, eish) - attracted me to this ad. As it had been viewed close to 89 000 times by the time I got to it, I am gathering that some of the above has appealed to many others too...

Some of you may remember my rant more than a year ago about current media trying to break into the blogosphere. In it I posed the question whether garden writer, Jane Owens, was really running a blog or whether this was just another website under the guise of a blog.
Lo and behold, Jane Owens has "opened her address book to share her top pick of gardening websites" - and not one blog made it onto her list.
How does Ms Owens view the gardening blogosphere? I'll let you draw your own conclusions.
In fact Ms Owens, as you're list was on UK Gardening Websites I thought you might be interested in meeting a few of these great UK garden bloggers. Hopefully some will make it into your address book for an updated list.
Here are few excerpts from Kenny Sia's blog, another funny and enjoyable entry from the funny man. Kenny Sia wrote:On drinking coffee... Excerpts:"This is ka fay sua da, otherwise known as Vietnamese iced coffee. When I took a sip at this drink for the first time, my eyes widened, my arsehole tightened and I was bouncing off the walls. That was the strongest iced coffee I've had! All they gave us was a glass of condensed milk with a weird contraption on top. All it contained was ground coffee and a dose of hot water. But what passed through the filter, dripping into the glass below was ounces of pure coffee heaven. It's the Asian version of espresso, it's so rich with caffeine kick and it's cheap as hell. Someone has gotta import this thing here. We may have spent 4 days in Vietnam, but when we returned, the only Vietnamese word we could speak was ka fay sua da!" On driving in Vietnam... In the 90's there were more stars of Australian day time television stalking the charts than you could shake a stick at. Over the years the one hit wonders, less diverse and unappealing waifs and strays have hit the reject bin and returned home to take up a strenuous career in sheep farming. One little lady who has bucked the trend is Natalie Imbruglia, returning with a summery feel to new track 'Glorious' which forms part of a soon to be released singles collection out next month.
Under the tutorage and creative wizardry of Ben Hillier who has worked with a myriad of top bands in the past including Blur, Imbruglia aims to shake her way free of the weighty melancholic and high emotive shroud that has cloaked her last two albums to reveal a happier side to her personality and a true reflection of where she is in life. A new band line up including Speedway front woman Jill Jackson on guitar, ex-James Blunt drummer Karl Brazil and in demand keyboardist Sean Barry add a new spark

“The free kick was the first I’ve taken for eight weeks, so it was quite pleasing,” he said. “I felt I was going to score as soon as I had the ball in my hands.”
David Beckham started his first game for the Galaxy, scored his first goal on a free kick in the 27th minute and Los Angeles beat D.C. United 2-0 in the SuperLiga semifinals.
Beckham also notched his first assist on the Galaxy’s second goal. He sent a long pass to a streaking Landon Donovan, who scored on a breakaway in the 47th minute for a 2-0 lead.
Beckham had played just 37 minutes in two previous games because of a nagging left ankle injury that didn’t allow him to practice with the Galaxy for the first time until Tuesday. By the way he gives a wonderful show to all of us, wonderful free kicks.

I just wanted to take a quick moment to share my "Morning Glories". I planted this vine about 3 years ago and every summer thru fall it takes on a life of its own. Now, I Absolutely Love the Purple flower, that is what drew me to the vine itself. But, Don't let that Beauty fool you. The Vine will take over your house and Swallow you up. I have to go and trim certain areas of it a few times a week. It is now growing up my Wrought Iron Gate thatI have on my front porch. I think I read somewhere it grows over a foot a day. (I believe it!) The vine itself is rather thick and you need garden sheers to properly cut it. It is taking over a Queen Palm on the side of my house, so now I need to cut it off of the branches. I want you to know that when I put it to bed for the Winter I cut it down to absolutely Nothing! Now it has "Come Alive" and is Singing with Glorious Flowers. Enjoy. P.S.**** Tomorrow I am listing My Summer Give Away #2

The name `India’ is derived from the River Indus, the valleys around which were the home of the early settlers. The Aryan worshippers referred to the river Indus as the Sindhu.
The Persian invaders converted it into Hindu. The name `Hindustan’ combines Sindhu and Hindu and thus refers to the land of the Hindus.
The number system was invented by India. Aryabhatta was the scientist who

by H. Exc. Shri P K Kapur, Deputy Director General, Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA)
and Prof. Sachchidanand Sahai, Fellow, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Simla.
« Ta Prohm: A Glorious Era in Angkor Civilisation » ” (White Lotus, Bangkok) offers a new look at the biography of Jayavarman VII, focusing on the ideology of abnegation followed by this Angkorian monarch. With his well-developed policy of welfare, the king surpassed the contemporary European kings. The monograph shows how Ta Prohm was intricately connected with the royal welfare programs, since its foundation stele describes in details the assistance given to the hospitals from the royal treasury.
The monograph presents the temple of Ta Prohm in the context of C

So,
yesterday I said I was going to make a more concerted effort to post quality
posts, to visit everybody’s blog, and to comment. Today, I have a headache so intense that my eyebrows hurt. Not to mention that I spent nearly the
entire day drawing and redrawing and erasing and cursing and setting fire to
and redrawing the same floorplan, over and over and over again, which isn’t
exactly the most entertaining thing in the world to post about.
Fortunately,
I did keep up the “visit other people’s sites more often” part of my promise
and, in doing so, found out I had been tagged for a meme by bluepaintred. Now technically, I could simply ignore this tag because she only
tagged me because she thinks I live on an island. This is categorically false, thus my grounds for ignoring the
tag, but I won’t because I did live on an island for forever and a year, though
I now reside just inland of said island where I en
Hello, friends. My name is Ted. By this point, you probably know that I do most of my word-smithing over at this site, but occasionally I contribute elsewhere, such as Sports Flow. Today, I'm doing just that, with a look at the Bay Area's Athletic Renaissance. It's a bad time to live in Dallas - think Romo's lack of ability to grab a snap, Dirk's proven ability to become a 3rd grade school girl in the playoffs, and the Rangers in general - or Houston (the Texans as a whole, T-Mac this postseason, and the current state of the Astros) - or even Washington (the Skins were laughable this past season, the Nats might break the single-season loss record, and the Wizards were swept in Round 1). But, it's a good time to live in the Bay Area. It's funny how things ebb and flow so quickly in terms of the geographic distribution of sports success. The A's and Giants have been good for a while - 2005 and 2006 were actually the Giants first losing seasons since 1996 - and the Sharks are always

Today was the monthly “Artist’s Day” at Boscobel Restoration in Garrison. On that day, the site is officially closed to the public, and they only allow artists in to paint, sketch, and take photographs. I wanted to work larger, so got a head start by going yesterday morning for a couple of hours, then went back today to finish. There’s not much color down in the marsh this time of year, so I planted myself in the rose garden amidst the tulips and flowering trees.
I can’t quite bear to part with this one yet, and it needs a few little tweaks here and there, so I haven’t put on a Paypal link. I’ll bump up the post with a link when I list it for sale.

From the time he was a child, Charles Farmer had only one goal: to be an astronaut. Earning his degree in aerospace engineering and joining the Air Force as a pilot, Farmer was a natural for NASA’s astronaut training program and was well on his way when a family situation forced him to drop out. But Farmer was not a man to let anything stand in the way of a dream. He spent the next decade and every cent he had building his own rocket in a barn on his ranch in Story, Texas, working toward the day when he could triumphantly launch it into space. By himself.
Sharing his vision are his wife Audie and their children–daughters Sunshine and Stanley, and 15-year-old Shepard, already a budding engineer and eager to serve as “mission control” on the big day. Even Audie’s father Hal, on hand to lend moral support, can see how his son-in-law’s unwavering commitment has inspired the family with a common dream. On the eve of the long-anticipated launch, an unexp
Hello, friends. This is Ted, a friend of the boys over at Sports Flow, checking in with some Sunday evening thoughts. If you take a gander at NL pitching statistics through Sunday afternoon, here's one thing you'll (probably) find: the NL West is pretty good.ERA? The boys in that time zone account for 5 of the top 14 pitchers overall, including Matt Cain of the Giants at No. 2 (1.54 ERA), Jake Peavy of the Padres at No. 5 (1.67), and Doug Davis of the Diamondbacks at No. 14 (2.79). Among those top 14, you don't even see Brandon Webb, the defending National League Cy Young winner.Strikeouts? There's Webb, at No. 3 (34 K), right behind Peavy at No. 2 (36 K). That makes sense, because earlier this week, Peavy mowed down 16 guys in one game, including nine in a row at one point. Randy Wolf of the Dodgers, with 31 K, is tied for fifth in the league in said category. In the other divisions in the National League, you tend to find the same guys clustered near the top of the pitching statis
A sad place, grave stones and memories of death. That very much depends upon your outlook on life and death, but I often take a walk through Crewe cemetery on my way home from town. On a day when summer is starting to take hold the cemetery is a vibrant place, full of colour, celebrating the lives of young and old. I always marvel at the sheer numbers buried and remembered here, and it's not hard to see why a new site is being developed off Minshull New Road. The higgledy-piggledy nature of the head stones fascinate me, as do the impressive trees that provide shade and shelter across the seasons. I always take at look at some of the names, pause for a few moments and try to imagine what kind of lives were led. It's sad when any life is lost but I always crumble when I see the name of a kid...
Hello, friends. My name is Ted, and I regularly write here, although I also pen things in other places, from time to time. Feel free to stop by my site and leave some love. I need all the help I can get, as a human being.I'm doing a little guest work for my boys at The Sports Flow this morning, and since Pac Man seems to be on everyone's mind, I figured I'd address it as well. Here goes nothing:The Pac Man Jones situation is obviously a black eye for both the Tennessee Titans and the National Football League as a whole. Not to restate the facts, because I'm sure most people who would read this site are already aware of them, but Pac Man has been involved in altercations in which the police were also involved ten times in the previous year. It's the first part of the equation above - the Tennessee Titans - that I'd like to address. Listen, the situation with Pac Man is obviously a terrible one, and something we see far too often as sports fans. A guy with all the talent and ability
Hello, friends. My name is Ted, and most of you know me as the author of this sub-par site, although I do blog other places. The good guys at Sports Flow invited me aboard as a contributor down the road; my first piece, right here and right now, will be about The Masters. The tradition unlike any other has a mere 18 hours until its resolution - until the green jacket is gracefully slid onto someone's trembling shoulders (that is, unless Nick Faldo goes commando style and throws the thing on himself, then runs off the course waving a shotgun at anyone who dares to stop him). I'll be the first to admit: I don't know much about golf. One of my good friends can list every single Masters winner since 1951 from memory, and was listening to The Masters on the radio at 9am this past Thursday. I'm not him; I was more inclined to write this post about "Masters of their Domain," because I know far more about George Costanza and Darren McFadden (the truest master of his domain in the sports wo
Hello, friends. This is a guest post, by the author of this shoddy website. Feel free to visit. I like having guests.Apparently, via the Wake Forest University message board (they're a year away from relevance in hoops, I swear), Andy Roddick was at a Wake Forest party last evening, playing some beer pong. This appearance is utterly unconfirmed - we figure a lot of guys look like Roddick, especially when you've held the table for a half hour or so - but it got us thinking. If we were to have a Tournament of Beer Pong, and comprise it fully of professional and collegiate athletes, who would advance?Thusly, if you assume a Beer Pong Tournament - and by the way, there are national ones - would flow like this year's NCAA, i.e. devoid of upsets, let's take a look at our Top 8 seeds, who would probably end up constituting our Elite Eight:1. Cole Hamels: There are two keys to beer pong (or beirut, depending on your college's vernacular). You have to be able to throw things with some type
I think that there are very few things in this world more lovely and wonderful to look at than a baby who's happily nursing. I just think it's a really nice thing to see. Of course not everyone feels that way. Before I had Elle I really didn't know there was such a big mommy war going on between women who nurse and women who don't. I just figured everyone fed their babies the best they could and didn't really care all that much what everyone else did. And then I became a breastfeeder and a mommyblogger and I saw, holy crap, this is serious stuff here. And then I picked a side.I won't be dainty about this. After struggling with nursing for the first few months (and many, many, many times of nearly giving up) and then slowly growing to love it I know what I feel is right. I don't think there is any really valid reason for not nursing if you are able to. Except in cases where a) the mother physicaly unable to b) the baby is unable to c) there is no mother in the picture I just think
Well , it was a glorious day....but what a lousy ending. Once again my two boys were returned to us in the back of a police cruiser. They have only been allowed to leave the property for the last 2 weeks. I was just asking my husband if the two of them had come in yet as it was 9;30 and they are usually in by 9;00. Just as he says no, I look out the window and I said to him....never mind the police are just pulling in to the driveway want to bet they're in the backseat ? Sure enough , they got caught shop lifting from the one store they hadn't been trespassed from. This time even the police are frustrated as they were waiting for them to be caught in the act and they were but the store owner is not interested in prosecuting. Seems there is too much paperwork involved and store owners don't want to miss work to attend court hearings. They are just as happy to have them "trespassed" from ever entering their stores. These two yahoos are standing in the driveway BEGG
Just an ordinary day here. Weather in the 80's has the kids begging to play outdoors from the moment they wake up. The younger ones have been looking longingly at the tourists swimming already on the lake front and just can't wait until mom and dad will start bringing them over for their daily swim. The wayward teen trio have been surprisingly well behaved even extending a hand to help do some spring cleanup in the back yard. All three have suddenly decided to grow out their hair which they have always kept very short since the day they came here. Bob and I have been laughing about it because they honestly don't think we know why the sudden change in looks. Could it be that their photos are posted in various stores and they are no longer allowed to enter them ? Or is it that others in the neighborhood who are shopping can also view these photos ? What would I do without my humorous way of looking at things ?
During a stay in L.A. a couple of years back, friends in Manhattan Beach told us a story of the train that used to run along the beach. It seems that the walk- and bike path along the beach was built on top of the old train tracks that ran all the way to Long Beach. They also said that they were under the impression that apparently the American automotive industry had a hand in it's disappearance, allegedly buying train companies and shutting them down to boost their car and bus business; and at the same time laying the groundwork for L.A.s pollution problem. Today I happened upon the story below posted by Kate of Vancouver, BC, on Now Public:"Beginning in the 1920s, General Motors began investing in mass transit systems. According to historian Marty Jezer (and Congressional hearings held in 1974), between 1920 and 1955, General Motors bought up more than 100 electric mass transit systems in 45 cities, allowed them to deteriorate, and then replaced them with rubber-tired, diesel-power
This morning someone added me to their del.ico.us links, so I checked out the other things she's tagged. Yow. Za. The person has taste. Seriously, if you need inspiration? Just click though some of her (?) bookmarks. I'm madlymadly in love with this page, and wish I could turn it into my computer wallpaper. Also loving these books (scroll down to "how to love someone forever") and this blog (Shoestring Decorator has to be the best name ever). Le sigh. Now I'm all inspired to do...something smashing.

Don't forget The Squeaking Noodle Competition to win A Spot of Bother by Mark Haddon.
Many of you have already started taking part in the competition - thanks for taking the time, and yes I should be giving away a shelf. I know - giving away a free book to writers is like giving free fish to fishermen (you know who you are). Good luck - will post best entries next Monday together with the Winner!

(1) Inimitable
It dares you to disprove it. How? It says that humans can not writea book like this even if they pooled all their resources together andgot help also from the spirits. The Quran said this fourteenhundreds years ago and yet no one has been able to disprove it. Billions ofbooks have been written - but not another one like the Quran.
(2) Incorruptible:
It is the only religious sacred writing which has been incirculation for such a long time and yet remains as pure as it was in thebeginning. The Quran was kept intact. Nothing was added to it;nothing was changed in it; and nothing was taken away from it eversince it was completely revealed 1400 years ago.
(3) Unsurpassable:
The Quran is God's final revelation to humankind. God revealed theTorah to Moses, the Psalms to David, the Gospel to Jesus, andfinally the Quran to Muhammad. Peace be upon all of them. No other book willcome from God to surpass his final revelation.
(4) Indisputable:

"I don't know what day of the month it is," said Scrooge. "I don't know how long I have been among the Spirits. I don't know anything. Never mind. Hallo! Whoop! Hallo here!"He was checked in his transports by the churches ringing out the lustiest peals he had ever heard. Clash, clang, hammer; ding, dong, bell! Bell, dong, ding; hammer, clang clash! Oh, glorious!Running to the window, he opened it, and put out his head. No fog, no mist; clear, stirring cold for the blood to dance to; golden sunlight; sweet fresh air; merry bells. Oh, glorious! Glorious! "What's today?" cried Scrooge, calling down to a boy in Sunday clothes."Eh?" returned the boy in wonder. "Why, Christmas Day""It's Christmas Day!" said Scrooge to himself. "I haven't missed it…" (Dicken's A Christmas Carol)Imagine seeing through Scrooge's eyes that day. A second chance - he hadn't missed it! And I don't think "it" simply refers to Christmas Day. "It" is life.Th
Saddam may not be hanging around anymore, Osama may or may not be dead, justice remains to be truly rendered. The US have a great opportunity to clean the whole mess and restore their status of a great democracy. Actually, impeaching Dubya is its only way out of Iraq.Don't get me wrong : the US can't abandon what's left of Iraq that soon. It's just that they cannot signify a change in their approach any other way. This country badly needs a regime change and I don't want Dubya to survive 2007 as the oldest G8 leader. Both George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney must and can be impeached. Treason could be a good start : 2006 was the year a wider audience than this lousy blog's came to understand this Administration's blunders were actually strategical successes for the true W.George W. Bush didn't act in the interest of his country as a President of the United States.George W. Bush didn't act in the interest of his party as a Republican.George W. The last few days have been absolutely glorious!Sunshine. Warm. Spring is definitely in the air! Now, you wouldn't know that from the neighbors I'vevisited over the last couple days. They all seem to have taken a 'negative attitude' pill or something. Then again, mayhaps they've always been that way, and I'm just now realizing it.Yikes! Ya' know what that means don't cha?It means: If I've never noticed their negativity beforenow, I must've been radiating that same negativity onsome level, or I wouldn't have attracted this experience into my life.Actually, I knew that about myself sometime ago. And, Ididn't like what I was allowing myself to become: A harpie! You know: Harping' on this! Griping' about that! Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah! HEAVEN FORBID!!!That's just NOT me!However, it becomes very easy when you're living in acommunity of basically good people, who unfortunately, for whatever reason, have allowed themselves to evolveinto chronic complainers. That kind of ne
So yesterday? Was a pretty good day. We slept in (Will doesn't have to work until noon on Fridays) and then I went to see Vantage Point, bought some running shoes, cleaned my apartment, had a texting conversation with my oldest brother (Hi Curt!) and then spent the evening watching ...
