      Ubuntu upgrades and fundamental problems
New job, new machine. So the last two days I’ve been setting up hardware platforms for work (one linux desktop machine, one win32 laptop, and some cool toys like an iPod Touch and a Nokia N800 - there are more to come, but it’s more than enough to start with). Some Fundamental Tips To Better Your Tennis Game
If you are seriously interested in taking up tennis as a way to keep yourself fit and healthy, as a weekend sport or for whatever reason at all, here are some fundamental tips that can serve as a guideline for your enjoyment and success at your chosen sport. 1.Equip yourself with the best tennis gear that suits your playing style. Before going off to buy what takes your fancy, ask for advice from local tennis club pro as to what type of racquet is suited for you, the grip size, the weight and balance. Only then should you invest in the proper equipment, and when you do, get the best of the type that's right for you! Doing so ensures your enjoyment of the game and save you from changing your racquet once too often. Don't forget to buy the proper tennis attire - socks, tennis shoes, shirts,

Fundamental Analysis - Good News for the Dollar
Over the past six months it seems like almost every major finance magazine has published an article related to the weakness of the dollar. If you are a currency trader like I am then this topic is particularly relevant to you because you need to know what the long-term trends of each currency are so that you can make profitable trades. What you probably have not been reading about in the news are some of the events that have been happening behind the scenes or that will be happening in the near future, and why the American economy will ultimately regain its strength. The single most significant factor affecting the American dollar is the trade balance, and the biggest portion of this problem is related to our war in the Middle East that should never have been authorized, yet is still costing

However, major occurances such as September the 11th do cause extreme moves. Affiliate Networks Fundamental
Many web site owners and Internet users are confused about new terms, changing trends and online developments. In the ever expanding world of web, there is so much going on at the same time that it is not possible to know and understand everything. But knowledge about some important developments may be of great consequence than you might conjecture. In this post I'll elaborate upon the fundamentals of affiliate networks and how they provide the services. It is no surprise that people do not comprehend affiliate marketing even after hours of searching on the web and reading the content. The problem lies with the people who have been talking about it, with least knowledge about the so many facets of it.Affiliate marketing refers to a temporary deal between web site owner and advertisers or me

Comment on The Latest Reason To Choose Technical Analysis Over Fundamental Analysis by ExcelTrader
"AVCT is earnings, i dont short earnings breakouts" What sources do you use to find earnings release dates? I find that earnings release dates that are listed on earnings.com, yahoo.com and clearstation.com are often wrong (and different from each other!). I created an excel file (ExcelTrader link goes to file) to automatically search for earnings dates from these three sources so that I can avoid any stock during earnings release {gambling IMHO). Would like to know of other sources that i may add to this file.

Fundamental Analysis : What is the Difference Between GDP and Growth Rate
GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is the total dollar amount of all goods and services produced. The growth rate is the percentage increase or decrease of GDP from the previous measurement cycle. Even though the BEA reports quarterly, the growth rate is annualized so it can be compared to the previous year. The GDP growth rate increases if retail expenditures, government spending, and exports increase. The growth rate will decline with increases in exports, inventory, and declines in consumer, business or government spending. The GDP growth rate is the most important indicator of economic health. If GDP is growing, so will business, jobs and personal income. If GDP is slowing down, then businesses will hold off investing in new purchases and hiring new employees, waiting to see if the economy

Fundamental Analysis : What is Inflation?
To understand inflation, we first must understand what the word means. The Economics Glossary defines Inflation as: Inflation is an increase in the price of a basket of goods and services that is representative of the economy as a whole. A similar definition of inflation can be found in Economics by Parkin and Bade: Inflation is an upward movement in the average level of prices. Its opposite is deflation, a downward movement in the average level of prices. The boundary between inflation and deflation is price stability. Because inflation is a rise in the general level of prices, it is intrinsically linked to money, as captured by the often heard refrain "Inflation is too many dollars chasing too few goods".To understand how this works, imagine a world that only has two commoditie

      Fundamental Analysis : Exchange rate
In finance, the exchange rates (also known as the foreign-exchange rate, forex rate or FX rate) between two currencies specifies how much one currency is worth in terms of the other. For example an exchange rate of 102 Japanese yen (JPY, ¥) to the United States dollar (USD, $) means that JPY 102 is worth the same as USD 1. The foreign exchange market is one of the largest markets in the world. By some estimates, about 2 trillion USD worth of currency changes hands every day. The spot exchange rate refers to the current exchange rate. The forward exchange rate refers to an exchange rate that is quoted and traded today but for delivery and payment on a specific future date.An exchange rate quotation is given by stating the number of units of "term currency" or "price currency

Fundamental Analysis : What are Interest Rates?
Like anything else in economics, there's a few competing definitions of the term interest rate. The Economics Glossary defines interest rate as: The interest rate is the yearly price charged by a lender to a borrower in order for the borrower to obtain a loan. This is usually expressed as a percentage of the total amount loaned. A more thorough definition of an interest rate can be found in The Economist's Dictionary of Economics. In part they define the "rate of interest" as: The proportion of a sum of money that is paid over a specified period of time in payment for its loan. It is the price a borrower has to pay to enjoy the use of cash which he does not own, and the return a lender enjoys for deffering his consumption or parting with liquidity.   The rate of i

What does the New Covenant promise? Why is Baptism connected to the Kingdom of Heaven? What does baptism do for us?What is the Church? Is it a building or residence as Scripture suggests? Why did Jesus not agree with Martha when she connected the resurrection to the Last Day? Has the resurrection already taken place and if so when?To answer the first question, the resurrection is of the dead. In other words, when Jesus comes again, the bodies of all who have died will rise again and be united once again with their souls. The righteous souls will receive glorified bodies. The wicked souls will receive bodies that will only add to their torment. Why did Jesus not agree with Martha when she connected the resurrection to the Last Day? A Fundamental Dog Training Concept You Must Understand For S
I moved into a new house about 14 days ago.The funny thing about this house is that--when you walk into the master bathroom, the light switch is on the left side, opposite of where the sink is.Well, practically every other house I've ever lived in has always had the light switch on the right side--or at least on the same side as the sink. And I'll be a monkey's uncle if EVERY SINGLE TIME I've walked into that bathroom, my hand doesn't instinctively reach to the right to turn the light switch on. Even after 14 days, my prior conditioning has been so engrained that when I consciously try to remember which side the light switch is on… my hand still shoot out to the right, instead of the left. This is the exact same type of conditioning we aim for when training our dogs.

I don't recommend trading that.Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 (8:30 a.m. New York Time) USA At 8:30 a.m. we will have U.S. Core PPI m/m. This is a quite small indicator. It is expected to come out at 0.2%. In order to move the market, we would need to have a large deviation here. I would enter a trade with 0.2 deviation on Core PPI supported by 0.5 deviation in the same direction on headline. If the core goes the other way than the headline, or headline is just as expected, probably you would want to exit the trade rather sooner than later. Having said all that, if the core PPI m/m comes out at 0.4% or higher, I would sell GBP/USD and look for about 35 pips. If

Fundamental AnalysisFriday, February 22nd, 2008 (8:30 a.m. New York Time) CANADA At 8:30 a.m. we will have Canadian Retail Sales coming out. I recommend trading the headline number but be aware if there is a conflict, the initial spike may be in direction of headline but then it may be muted or go the other way depending on numbers. I think 0.6 trigger can be used because every time we had 0.6 deviation or greater, we had pretty good price actions. It is expected it will came out at 0.7 (or sometimes 0.8). If the headline comes out at 1.4%, you may sell USD/CAD and look for 35 to 40 pips. There are lots of different attributes that a program can have beyond just working, but ultimately there are only a few things that easily define a great program. With that in mind, I find the following summary quite reasonable:The secret to great code is to get the smallest program possible without resorting to being clever, while generalizing to as large a problem space as possible given the time constraints. I recommend you to trade 0.3 trigger so if it comes out at -0.1% or more negative, GBP/USD may go down about 40 pips. If it comes out at 0.5% or higher, GBP/USD may move up by 40 pips or more in the first hour of the report.Friday, December 21st, 2007 (8:30 a.m. New York Time) CANADAAt 8:30 a.m. New York time we will have a few reports coming out: Canadian GDP and Retail Sales. I would focus on the Headline Retail Sales. For some reasons, the headline was moving market a little bit better recently. I would trade it with a 0.6 trigger so if it comes out at -0.9 or more negative, that would be a buy USD/CAD signal. If it comes out at 0.3 or higher, that would probably be a sell USD/CAD signal. Look for 30 to 35 pips either direction if the trigger his hit. The retails sales is in general more powerful than the GDP; how

      Forex Fundamental Analysis - 17 Desember 2007
Fundamental AnalysisMonday, December 17th, 2007 (8:30 a.m. New York Time) USAAt 8:30 a.m we will have U.S. Empire State Business Conditions Index and U.S. Current Account. Because they are coming at the same time, it is hard to say which one is going to grab the market. Most likely Empire Manufactures is more important one, and usually when it is in focus by itself a deviation of 10 or 12 can be tradable but I would skip that one.Monday, December 17th, 2007 (9:00 a.m. New York Time) USAAt 9:00 a.m. we will have U.S. TIC Net Long-Term Transactions. This indicator used to work, then it did not work, and past 3 months it started working again because of very large deviations. It is expected to come out at 49 B. If it comes out at 0 or negative, I would look to sell USD/JPY, and if it comes out at 100 K or more positive, then I would buy USD/JPY. This is one of the financial health indicators so I think USD/JPY should work better on this one.Monday, December 17th, 2007 (1:00 p.m. New York

      Forex Fundamental Analysis - 14 Desember 2007
Fundamental AnalysisFriday, December 14th, 2007 (8:30 a.m. New York Time) USAWe will have only one tradable indicator, and that is Core CPI coming out of the U.S. It is expected to come out at 0.2%. I think this is worthy to trade with any deviation. If it comes out at 0.1% or lower, that would be dollar weakening so buy signal on GBP/USD, and we can expect 35 to 50 pips move or more in the first hour of the report. On the other hand, if it comes out at 0.3% or higher, we can expect a sell signal on GBP/USD, good for 35 to 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report. The CPI is less in focus than it used to be so we may get a choppy price action but still quite important.SUMMARY:* Report: US Core CPI* Buy on GBP/USD if the number will be 0.1% or lower* Sell on GBP/USD if the number will be 0.3% or higherPrevious >

Fundamental AnalysisThursday, December 13th, 2007 (3:30 a.m. New York Time) SWITZERLAND At 3:30 New York time we will have Swiss Interest Rate coming out. It is expected to come out at 2.75%. About 16% of economists are expecting them to hike the rate. If they do hike to 3.00%, it will be a clear sell signal on the GBP/CHF, good for 50 to 70 pips or more in the first hour of the report. If they leave the rate unchanged, unless you are very experienced I would recommend you stay out because the price action will all depend on comments. If they cut the rate to 2.50%, then would be a buy signal, good for 50 to 70 pips but this will not happen. Thursday, December 13th, 2007 (8:30 a.m. New York Time) USA At 8:30 a.m. New York time we will have a few indicators. I would skip CAD manufacturing shipments as it was not performing well at all. I would focus on the U.S. Core Retail Sales. It is expected to come at 0.6%. If it comes 0% or lower, that would be weakening U.S. dollar, and I would sel

Fundamental AnalysisMonday, December 10th, 2007 (4:30 a.m. New York Time) UKAt 4:30 a.m. we will have UK PPI. I don't suggest trading this indicator. UK said they were very concerned about the inflation, it will be moderated until next year so I don't think this indicator is a key indicator. It also had very unreliable price actions in the past. I would just stay away from that one.Monday, December 10th, 2007 (10:00 a.m. New York Time) USAAt 10:00 a.m. we will have U.S. Pending Home Sales. This number can have very large deviations because is measured in a percentage bases. Sometimes it may create big moves but other times it may fake you out. Last two trades were quite poor. I recommend you to just stay away from this indicator. So actually it seems nothing interesting will be going on on Monday. Previous >

Fundamental AnalysisFriday, December 07th, 2007 (7:00 a.m. New York Time) CANADAAt 7.00 a.m. New York time we will have Canadian Employment Change. In the past, this indicator has been giving huge deviations away from the expectations so it is quite possible tomorrow we will get another big deviation. I believe that a trigger of 20 K either direction should be sufficient to see USD/CAD moving 40 pips or more. So if it comes out at 35 K or higher, USD/CAD may go down by 40 to 45 pips or more in the first hour of the report. On the other hand, if it comes out at -5 K or more negative, USD/CAD may go up 40 to 45 pips or more.SUMMARY:* Report: Canadian Employment Change* Sell on USD/CAD if the number will be 35 K or higher* Buy on USD/CAD if the number will be -5 K or more negative* If the trigger is hit, expect 40 to 45 pips or more in the first hour of the report.Friday, December 07th, 2007 (8:30 a.m. New York Time) USAThen at 8:30 a.m. New York time we will have U.S. Non-Farm Payroll co

If it comes out at -0.2% or more negative, I think GBP/USD may possibly go down by 30 pips or more in the first hour of the report. On the other hand, if we see Industrial Production coming out at 0.6% or higher, I think GBP/USD may possibly go up by 30 pips or more in the first hour of the report. This indicator is a tricky one, and we may see a bigger move but be careful on this one, and try to get your entries as close to pre-release price as possible. If you cannot do that, don't chase it.Thursday, December 06th, 2007 (7:00 a.m. New York Time) UKThen at 7 a.m. New York time we will have UK Interest Rate Statement coming out. It is expected to come out at 52.7. If it reads at 55 or higher, I think GBP/USD may possibly gain 40 pips or more in the first hour of the report. On the other hand, if this indicator reads at 50.5 or below, I think GBP/USD may possibly go down by 40 pips or more in the first hour of the report.SUMMARY:* Report: UK Services PMI* Buy on GBP/USD if the number will be 55.0 or higher* Sell on GBP/USD if the number will be 50.5 or lower* If the trigger is hit, expect 40 pips or more in the first hour of the report.Wednesday, December 05th, 2007 (8:15 a.m. New York Time) USAThen at 8:15 a.m. New York time we will have U.S. ADP Non-Farm Employment. It is expected they are going to keep the rate unchanged, and most likely there will be no comments so most likely nothing is going to happen here. If there are some comments towards rate hikes, AUD/USD may possibly gain 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report. If there are comments towards future rate curs, AUD/USD may possibly lose 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report. As I said, most likely nothing will happen.Tuesday, December 04th, 2007 (7:30 p.m. New York Time) AUSTRALIAThen at 7:30 p.m. we will have Australian GDP. It is expected to read 1%. This indicator has had very ugly history recently as the market did not care too much about it so I would just skip this indicator.Monday, December 3rd, 2007 (10:00 a.m. New York Time) USAThen at 10 a.m. New York time will will have U.S. ISM Manufacturing Index coming out. This is a tough one because for the last 3 months as the manufacturing indicators have not been mattering what we had was readings very close to consensus so it is hard to judge what kind of market reaction it will do to this indicator. Probably this is the most important manufacturing indicator in the world because it is so old and so reputable. The forecast is 50.5, and I will go more conservative on this one. If the reading is 53 or higher, I would go short on GBP/USD and expect a move of 40 pips or more in the first 30 minutes of the report. If on the ot

Fundamental AnalysisFriday, November 30th, 2007 (1:45 a.m. New York Time) SWITZERLANDFirst, we will have Swiss CPI y/y which is expected to come out at 1.5% versus 1.3%. I think if it comes out at 1.3%, same as last quarter, USD/CHF may possibly go up by 30 pips or more in the first hour of the report. On the other hand, if it reads 1.7% or higher, I think USD/CHF may possibly go down by 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report.SUMMARY:* Report: Swiss CPI y/y* Buy on USD/CHF if the number will be 1.3% or lower* Sell on USD/CHF if the number will be 1.7% or higherFriday, November 30th, 2007 (8:30 a.m. New York Time) CANADAThen we will have Canadian GDP coming out at 8:30 a.m. The market is mostly talking about annualizing reading which is expected to come out at 2.2%; however, the m/m reading is also important. Fundamental AnalysisTuesday, November 13th, 2007 (4:30 a.m. New York Time) UK At 4:30 a.m. New York time we will have UK CPI. The most important number to watch is the headline number which is actually expected to come out at either 1.9 or 2.0%. If the UK CPI y/y reads 2.1% or higher, I think GBP/USD may possibly go up by 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report. On the other hand, if the CPI reads at 1.8% or below, I think GBP/USD may possibly go down by 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report. SUMMARY: * Report: UK CPI y/y * Buy on GBP/USD if the number will be 2.1% or higher * Sell on GBP/USD if the number will be 1.8% or less * If the trigger is hit, expect 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report. Be aware of strange price actions at 5 a.m. on EUR/USD because of German ZEW but I would not trade it as I do not think it is worthy to take a risk. Fundamental AnalysisFriday, November 2nd, 2007 (7:00 a.m. New York Time) CANADAAt 7 a.m. New York time we will have Canadian Employment Change. It is expected to read about 12 K versus 51.1 K last month. I think if it reads 0 or negative, it would be a pretty surprising reading, and I think USD/CAD may possibly go up by 40 pips or more in the first 30 minutes of the report. On the other hand, if we see a reading of 30 K or above that would be a relatively high reading, and based on that I think USD/CAD may possibly go down by 40 pips or more in the first 30 minutes of the report. Of course, much larger deviations may cause even bigger moves.SUMMARY:* Report: Canadian Employment Change* Buy on USD/CAD if the number will be 0 or negative* Sell on USD/CAD if the number will be 30 K or higher* If the trigger is hit, expect 40 pips or more in the first 30 minutes of the report.Friday, November 2nd, 2007 (8:30 a.m. New York Time) USAThen at 8:30 a.m. New York time we will have U.S. Non-Farm

Fundamental AnalysisFriday, October 26th, 2007 (--:-- -.-. New York Time) DAY OFF ;-)Tomorrow there is absolutely nothing that is worthy watching and possibly trading. It is one of a very few Fridays that we can take off.Sunday, October 28th, 2007 (5:45 p.m. New York Time) NEW ZEALANDOn Sunday at 5:45 p.m. New York time we will have New Zealand Trade Balance coming out. It is expected to come out at -725 M. If it comes out at -1B or more negative, I think NZD/USD may possibly go down by around 30 pips or more in the first hour of the report. On the other hand, if it comes out at -500 M or less negative, I think NZD/USD may possibly go up by 30 pips or more in the first hour of the report. I discourage you to trade the spike here; rather wait for the retracement, and try to enter within 5 pips of the pre-release price, and maybe try 10 pips stop-loss and 30 pips take-profit. Most likely it is going to spike, then retrace providing a very good opportunities to enter at a good price.Monda

If the reading is below 5 M, GBP/USD may possibly go up by 40 pips or more in the first hour of the report. On the other hand, if the reading is 5.51 M or above, it would be a better reading than the previous month, and that would be a nice surprise considering a bad situation with the real estate market so this reading may drive GBP/USD down by 40 pips or more in the first hour of the report. Be careful with this indicator, GBP/USD is at really high level right now. I would be very careful on longs, and in addition to that, everyone is really expecting a very bad real estate condition. Even a positive deviation may not convince people enough to sell GBP/USD, and at the same time, a highly negative deviation may be very much expected and priced in. Just be careful on this trade.Wednesday, October

We will have retail sales coming out of Canada at 8:30 a.m. New York time. I will be focusing on the core retail sales that is expected to come out at 0.3%. If it comes out at 0.6% or higher, I think USD/CAD may possibly go down by 30 pips or more in the first hour of the report. On the other hand, if they came out at 0.0% or negative, I think USD/CAD may possibly go up by 30 pips or more in the first hour of the report. Obviously, watch out for any revisions and conflict on the headline number. If there is no significant conflict, I would try to get in within 7 or 10 pips of the pre-release price, and try to get 20 to 25 pips profit with about 15 pips SL.Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007 (9:30 p.m. New York Time) AUSTRALIAThen at 9:30 p.m. New York time we will have Australian CPI coming out. This indicator may literally determine the next interest rate move of the Bank of England. It's expected to come out at 0.7%. If it comes out at 0.8% or above, it would be a strong reading, and I think that GBP/USD can possibly go up by 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report. Fundamental AnalysisThursday, October 18th, 2007 (4:30 a.m. New York Time) UK Tomorrow at 4:30 a.m. New York time we will have UK Retail Sales coming out. For several months in a row we saw a strong retail sales numbers. Last month we had 0.6%, after 0.7% the previous month. This month they are expecting only 0.1% which would be a normal retracement after all the gains of last 4 months. If it comes at -0.2% or more negative, I think GBP/USD may possibly go down by 30 pips or more in the first hour of the report. On the other hand, if the retail sales comes out at 0.4% or more positive, I think GBP/USD may possibly gain 30 pips or more in the first hour of the report. If the deviation is bigger, such as 0.6% or higher, then GBP/USD may possibly gain as much as 50 pips or more, and if we see a reading of -0.4% or more negative, I think a move of 50 pips or more is also possible. Fundamental AnalysisWednesday, October 17th, 2007 (4:30 a.m. New York Time) UK On Wednesday at 4:30 a.m. New York time we will have BOE minutes coming out. I think nothing will happen during this minutes. This time the vote is totally not important. If the vote was 9:0, 8:1 or 7:2 when they did not raise the rate last time, it does not make any difference now. What we want to look at is for any comments or any discussions of a possible cut. I don't think last meeting was early enough for that but if in the last meeting there was at least one member who voted for a rate cut, or anything mentioning about the rate cut, then GBP/USD may possibly go down by 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report. If nobody mentioned anything about cuts, I would skip this indicator. This month (today) the inflation did read very low so most likely there is going to be a talk about rate cuts during next meeting. Two weeks ago probably there was not enough data that would warrant such discussion (a p
