Taipei (Taiwan) - AMD has pulled a rabbit out of its hat to increase the performance of its existing Phenom triple-core (8000-series) and quad-core (9000-series) processors. Six "hidden pins" on the processors and chipsets are the secret, which, our sources told us, will enable simple overclocking through the southbridge - and accelerate the current processors on demand. The name of the game is cal

Straight up, this one sounds just too bizarre to ever be true, but we suppose (almost) anything goes when talkin’ AMD. Now that you’re suitably skeptical, word on the street has it that AMD’s triple- and quad-core Phenom processors posses a half dozen “hidden pins” which can enable painfully easy overclocking when paired [...]

There is a lot to be said about the ease of use of smartphones. For instance, did you know that, according to a survey by Opinion Research Corporation, the single most returned gifts are non-blackberry, non-iPhone smartphones, due to the recipient's inability to figure out how to use all the features? Then again, people are always asking for more, not less. Where is the compromise?

The Software we uses may contain lotta bugs... and its the duty of the testers to eliminate them before the final release.. err.. the actual sentence would be, to find and report them.. so its like what Terminix do. or rather may be its done b the programmer itself. What ever the case is it must be bug free. A software can be said to be as a good one, if it is usable in the eyes of the final user, if its functional in the eyes of the tester and if its less buggy in the eyes of the project members(and of course in the eyes of customer and testers as well.) Extra functionality.Extra functionality is always welcome. but imagine a customer complaining that he is directed to other pages on certain keystrokes or certain combination keys(for him it may be undesirable). That will be a pain. So whe

Which brings us to my favorite groupware and messaging server, Citadel BBS. Citadel is 100% GPL, and doesn't play games with making either binary or source downloads easily available. If I had to describe Citadel in a word, it would be "simplicity". It is a complex application with a lot of power and flexibility, but it's easy to install and administer. It has an excellent installation script that builds the whole works from source code, and the same script is also an upgrader. Unnecessary complexity may wow the PHB set, but we real people know that simplifying the management of a complex application takes some real engineering skills.

Whilst certainly not quite as distinctively styled as the previously featured (and insanely desirable) Thompson Symbio featured earlier, this OpenFrame Touch Screen Home Smart Phone from OpenPeak, like the Symbio, serves to push the boundaries and capabilities of home phone setups beyond that of merely being a phone much in the same way as cell phones have long since evolved from serving as mere handsets.

According to an apparently anonymous tip passed to BGR, Nokia’s much anticipated WiMAX capable N810 (touted as being the N830 by some) could be released this April – though we should stress that this is as yet unsubstanciated by Nokia.
This interesting device manufactured by RipFactory and known as the RipServer has not only been designed to serve as a network attached storage (NAS) device offering up to 1TB of capacity and Linux compatibility but as a high quality CD ripper and a UPnP media server.
Surge protection devices may be a pre-requisite for any computer user looking to protect their equipment from sudden spikes in power but, let’s be honest here, as practical as they are, surge protectors are not exactly known for getting the average consumer’s pulses racing – or at least not until this Belkin Mini Surge Protector put in an appearance.
Logitech MX5000 Cordless Keyboard & Rechargeable Mouse. Keyboards and mice have been around since the earliest days of modern personal computers, and pretty much, their basic design remains the same. Admittedly, there’s really nothing wrong with the way they look and work, so why innovate, right? It might seem as such, but in reality, the applications we use today have evolved, bringing about a noticeable increase in complexity. So when a company like Logitech tries to innovate upon the basic designs of keyboards and mice in such a way that they augment our ability to use modern applications, we can’t help but smile. The Logitech MX500 Cordless Keyboard & Rechargeable Mouse comes as one of their latest products, and if previous models are an indication, then it’s safe to say

Finally got round to upgrading my 'Weblog language translator' from beta.
Key to improving it was removing the roll over based banner I had implemented (the Google translation service, which I piggy-back off of, only translates circa 3k characters, so the banner header, full of links was using up the majority of the translation).
Obviously this points out a few of the flaws of the implementation, namely reliance on Google to provide the service (and of course a dependency on the call syntax not changing), and all of the weaknesses that follow on from relying on the Google service, not least the translatable character limit.
This time round I'm much happier with the implementation - and I've done a fair bit of testing to ensure it's fit for purpose.
Unlike the other implementations out on the web I've added Roller specific functionality, implemented in JavaScript, creating a 'main' (or rather 'weblog') page for each language.
Microsoft allows you to run Windows Server 2008 as a trial for 30 days to get the feel of it just like Vista. If you have gotten caught out there and went past the 30 days you realize you can't get at your stuff. You are in reduced functionality mode - and thats just not fun.By now, I'm sure you have heard about the slmgr "hack" (From Download Squad) that allows you to run Windows Vista for up to 120 days without activation (instead of 30). Well, it appears that the exact same hack works on Windows Server 2008 (RC0).If you wait too long and it prompts you to activate upon boot, select reduced functionality mode. When the IE window opens use the address bar to navigate to C:WindowsSystem32cmd.exe. Enter the slmgr text from there, wait for the confirmation box and reboot. After some testing we were able to get this working 8 times on a Vista install - not practical but great in a bind. Will this work on Server 2008 as well? Let us know!Check out our RSS feed.

Hi Guys, One of the issues that were annoying me about my car is the OBC (On Board Computer) check button. Whenever I press that button, I was receiving this row of orange squares that I didn’t know what they meant. After a while, I thought this meant the car was ok and that there’s nothing wrong to report until today when I found an article that’s talking about this exact problem and how to unlock the check functionality. It turned out that the row of orange boxes (which looks like a full battery) meant that the check functionality is disabled in the car and that you have to enable it simply by following some easy steps.
Disclaimer: Use this info at your own risk!! I’m not responsible if this didn’t work for you :-).
To unlock your car’s check button functionality:
1. Hold down 1000 and 10 to get access to the hidden menus. [TEST –]
Note: please notice that this may not work if you didn’t unlock the hidden menus in your OBC using

Wheelchairs have been around for hundreds of years, but early wheelchairs were intended only to help a disabled individual move from point A to point B. As society progressed and disabled individuals became more integrated, the role of the wheelchair began to change as well. Wheelchairs are now considered not only a means of transportation but also as a way to allow users to express their individuality. Users can find custom-made high quality ultra-light high-performance wheelchairs as well as accessories that enable them to individualize their look and style. The move from functionality to individuality is discussed in this articleThis article with photosThere were many attempts to connect furniture to wheels dating back to the time of Christ. But perhaps the first wheelchair was invented for King Phillip II of Spain. A drawing of the King dated 1595 shows him in a chair with wheels, armrests and footrests. Before I start, I should probably introduce myself a little. My name's Phil, and I run a blog at twistedethics.com, but I'll be cross-posting all the good stuff on to here as well. By day, I'm responsible for the IT within a small company in the United Kingdom. We run a mixed-OS network, so you can be sure I'll be blogging about both Linux and Windows. I'm also a big fan of open-source alternatives for home and business, so you'll be seeing plenty of that stuff too. Which, conveniently, leads me to my first blog post!In a bid to save money where we can, and detach ourselves from Microsoft reliance, we've deployed Thunderbird as a replacement for Outlook across a few workstations. We've found that when people switch from Microsoft Outlook to Mozilla Thunderbird they often miss having the calendar/task features. Fortunately, you can add Calendar and Task functionality to Thunderbird with the Lightning add-on. Go to the Lightning download page Right click on the download link an
Do you love your copy of Fight Night Round 3? I know I do. Every once in a while I still pop her in and give her a quick run through. But, if you wanted to take on your friend in London in a good ol’ fashioned online sparring match, you’re SOL as Electronic Arts has announced plans to eliminate ALL online support for their ‘06 titles by November 1st, 2007.
A majority of these titles will have their online components shut down on September 1st (a full list after the break), with two more titles (Burnout Revenge and Need for Speed Most Wanted) following on the 11/01 deadline. While I’m sure there are a lot of people out there who feel screwed, I can kind of see the logic in this. I doubt games like “Arena Football” or “Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects” were hugely popular online, and they want to free up the bandwidth to help support their newest crop of Madden, NCAA and NBA titles.
A full list is after the break, sorted by console
Free SMS: Walkie-talkie functionality on mobilePush-to-talk technology has been discussed at length in our previous articles. Now let's take a peek at the latest buzz on this technology.Push-to-talk over cellular wireless (PoC ) seems to offer promising market potential. There is keen consumer interest in walkie-talkie functionality on mobile phones since it allows either one person or a whole group of people to be called at the press of a button. And just like on a walkie-talkie, incoming voice messages are received automatically. The "always on" function of GPRS and the mobile phone's handsfree facility mean that no special effort is required on the part of the recipient. This means it's a simple application that adds an attractive, flexible function to the mobile phone and offers spontaneous, uncomplicated communication especially for a group.Keeping pace with this technology, Nokia introduced the world's first GSM push-to-talk handset, Nokia 5140. The phone comes with unique fe

According to PCWorld, Google Inc. has bought video conferencing software from Marratech AB, for a reported $15 million.
“With its cross-platform conferencing software, Marratech lets people do audio and video conferencing, application sharing and instant messaging. The client software runs on Windows 2000 or XP, Mac OS X 10.4, or versions of Linux including Mandriva 10.2, Suse 9.1 or Fedora Core 2, and requires a Pentium III or G4 processor running at 1GHz or faster.”
Don’t think this acquisition is hurting Google’s pockets either, they have ample cash to burn on startups right now. In its annual report, Google stated that it had $11.2 billion in cash on its balance sheet according to Redherring.
Here’s a nice (but quite unknown) Windows feature that will help you increase your File System security in Windows XP.
XP features a component named EFS (Encryption File System), that lets you encrypt files on your PC hard disk. EFS is specially useful in situations when you share your PC with other people.
There are a few required prerequisites in order to have the encryption functionality working:
The file you wish to encrypt should be stored in a NTFS volume, as FAT doesn’t support the EFS feature
Your system version should be different from Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Here’s how you actually encrypt your files:
Click Start || Programs || Accessories || Windows Explorer.
Locate the file that you want, right-click that file, and click Properties.
On the General tab, click Advanced. The Advanced attributes screen will open up.
Under Compress or Encrypt attributes, select the Encrypt contents to secure data check box, and then click OK.
