The problem with going a goal down is that it allows the other team to sit back, defend, and generally piss around wasting time.
Deep into the second half of today's game against Fulham, Arsenal fans were dreading a disastrous start to the season. Not only were we dropping points to a team we should beat weak in, weak out, but we were not in sufficient control of the game against a mediocre side.
The team showed tremendous spirit in the final ten minutes to grab the win, and we should be absolutely delighted with the 3 points (as celebrations in the ground showed), but there are one or two matters for concern that have arisen from today's game:

1. We don't resemble champions
From the word go we looked nervous. Watch Chelsea or Man Utd (or even Liverpool) and you will see a confidence in the way

He received a back pass from Clichy and tried to pass it back to him even when Healy was in the way. He should have passed to Sagna, he didn't and went off-balance while trying to pass and made a real mess of it. Healy was left with the job to tuck the ball into the net and he did it without any mistake. So it was 1-0 to Fulham even before everyone had taken their seat.From then on, it was the same old story. So it has arrived. The opening game of the 2007-08 Premiership season. The kids have been suitably traumatised by some ‘Quality Time’ with their old Dad in the Summer, probably very grateful that the season has started.
So to the match. Hard to really read much into it beforehand with no form as such to go on. However, given that I always want and believe that the team will win every single game (don’t take any prediction at face value, they are always cautious; more goals are always expected, one league placing higher, etc., you get the drift) and in all honesty today ought to be a comfortable win. It would be good to see an open game but I suspect Fulham will make life difficult by massing ranks in the midfield.
I have not seen anything to the contrary so presume Eduardo passed his fitness test yesterday. If that is correct, the Arsenal team that I would like to see start is a 4-4-2 formation. I see no reason for caution in that respect on the opening day, at hom
What can we expect?
Fulham or the pirated version of the Northern Ireland national team have done some heavy spending by the Cottagers' standards. But was the money spent wisely? Well, I have never seen some of them play since players like Cook, Healy etc. have come from lower divisions.
Lawrie Sanchez has been quoted as saying he will play 4-4-2 but I really doubt he would be so adventurous first day of a new season away at Emirates. I expect a hardworking 4-5-1 formation with long balls being peppered to Brian McBride or Kamara whosoever plays. Lawrie Sanchez loves playing long ball and physical football but ironically some of the players in Arsenal may give a more physical game. Christanval, Zat Knight, Konchesky and Hughes should be the back four with lack of pace being their biggest problem.
A hardworking midfield of Diop, Bullard, Davis in the centre with Davis and Volz in the wings might try to crowd us out. But I really do not see a physical presence barri
Arsenal draw Sparta Prague
The Champions League qualifying draw took place yesterday and predictably, Arsenal were handed a tough draw against Czech champions Sparta Prague. Arsenal will play the first leg away in the Czech Republic on August 14 or 15 before returning to the Emirates Stadium for the home leg on August 28 or 29. Arsenal’s club secretary David Miles did mention that the club were reasonably happy with the draw:
