      Photo Frustration!
Am I the only one confused about when to send, and when not to send photos? I’ve met a lot of interesting guys that don’t like putting photos in their profiles. They usually say they’ll be willing to send me a photo first, but sometimes they ask me to send additional photos (outside of the ones [...]

      Can you sense the frustration...?
Call me naïve. Call me stupid. Call me hopelessly stuck in a distant past. Call me whatever you like. But there I was yesterday, down at the local CD pusher wanting to spend my weekly allowance on the new (2 months old) album Zen Sucker by Larsen & Furious Jane – just to be informed that the album is only available on vinyl and as a digital download (had I been paying attention some of thes

      Customer service frustration
Tonight I went to Old Navy to exchange a pair of tank tops that I originally purchased on Saturday. Normally I'm good at guessing my size, but this year, Old Navy has really dialed-down the quality of the tank tops, going from thick, sturdy cotton to some flimsy cotton/modal blend. I'm not a cotton/modal blend-hater, but Anne and I were both shocked at the decrease in quality. I know that you "get what you pay for," so for $7.50 each on sale, I'm not expecting cashmere, but seriously. I loved those tank tops and stocked up every year. Now I have to make sure my old ones last as long as possible because they're total crap now, same with the "perfect tee," which is now more of a "perfect piece of crap."Moving on - when I went in tonight to do an even exchange from XL to L, I could tell rig

      Web designing frustration!
Mum is getting frustrated! She wants to redo my main website - JohannTheDog.com, but is pretty clueless about web design and website building. Yes, she made my current website - but she did it in FrontPage, which is kind of easy. But it's not optimized or structured correctly. And she wants to give it a new look. She downloaded the free trial of the new Dreamweaver CS3, and has been tinkering (tinkering too much IMHO!) with it. Every time she gets in there she starts making all these grunting, frustrating sounds. Makes me nervous!!!!So today she is going to talk with a website designer who can maybe get her started with a template or something that she can build on from there. She likes the new Dreamweaver because it's more WYSIWYG like (she needs lots of help like that). She's also spending

These, to paraphrase, "are the the times that try men's careers!"I am there now.It is coming up on bonus payout time, I know what my payout could have been. We revamped many of the programs under my direction this year leading to over $1M in increases. I also laid the groundwork for new programs now launching that will generate $6-10MM per year...for a long time.Based on all criteria I had a pretty good year...too bad it is for naught. At a staff meeting this week we were told the bitter truth. Remembering Buckley: Frustration With the Pardon Process
In December of 1976, William F. Buckley, Jr. angrily expressed his concerns over the pardon process noting, "Chile may be showing greater concern for its political prisoners than the United States." The anxiety stemmed from the fact that Buckley wanted to see Howard Hunt's two and a half to eight-year prison sentence commuted. Harvard Professor James Q. Wilson had noted that anyone else with Hunt's record would have probably been given a 30-day suspended sentence. But Judge John Sirica was handing out "extraordinary prison terms" in order to "put special pressure on his prisoners to cooperate with the prosecution." Frustration and Rejoicing
I’m feeling so frustrated with my photography. I having been having trouble nailing my focus lately and a lot of shots seem muddy and underexposed. My black and white conversions have been lousy and I’m not happy with the tonal range in my black and white shots. This is a problem because aesthetically I much prefer B&W. I’ve been playing around this morning with the camera set to monocrome and have reached the following conclusions: 1) I am going off full manual and am going to use aperture priority mode for a while so I don’t have to worry about the shutter speed. I’ll let the camera do what I was trying to do - constantly readjust the ss as the kids move from one lighting condition to another. 2) I’m going to stop opening my aperture all the way. With f/1.8 the depth of field is SO shallow that if the kids move even a smidgeon the focus moves from their face to, say, their shirt. I’m not doing fashion photography I’m doing

My muse is playing hide and seek with me these days. Or has it been weeks? Perhaps. I haven’t been exactly blogging about quality posts. Just ranting or rambling on abut things that doesn’t concern me. Well, weddings do concern me except that I’m only the supporting role and why the heck do I even get blue when all I have to do is to delay the groom? Perhaps I feel restricted that I may not be able to even play some games because it’s actually a pity to have a fallout with the bride when it’s just some game that shouldn’t even hurt anyone. Having known the bride for years, the morning pranks or activities is obviously simple. Ask for a huge red packet / ang bao and get it done with. No torturing the groom to go through the process of sour, sweet, bitter or spicy. No asking the groom to sing diabetic sweet songs to serenade the bride. No asking the groom to shout from that basketball court more than 200 metres away to declare loudly “I LOVE <

The Republican Party's highest-ranking Latino official abruptly resigned Friday, marking the latest casualty in the GOP's bitter internal fight over immigration and dealing another setback to President Bush's years-long effort to court Latino voters. The ploy to get the Latino vote evaporated fast, as the latest defector is Mel Martinez and head of the Latino RNC, Martinez is a Cuban-born Senator from Florida.Like his hero McKinley, he alone was the true visionary. Everyone else looked at the political landscape and saw a nation at rough parity. The Frustration of a Canadian Conservative
One of the many benefits of being a conservative as opposed to a liberal is that we never have any shame about self-criticizing our own party. Being naturally opinionated, conservatives won’t hesitate to call out one of our own for a little verbal slapping when needed. Where liberals will openly turn on each other out of ambition, the motive from the political right is borne out of keeping the team strong in the fight against the other side. It is from that basis that I write today. You wouldn’t believe how frustrating it is to be even slightly to the political right in Canada. Petty Frustration in the Music Biz
There was no just cause for me to be short-tempered with the parking ticket attendant on my way out of Navy Pier this evening. But I gave him a hard time in classic "kick the dog" mode. I was venting my pent up anger from the four hour gig I had just suffered through plus the four hour gig the previous night.frustration: 1) a feeling of dissatisfaction, often accompanied by anxiety or depression, resulting from unfulfilled needs or unresolved problems.2) The condition that results when an impulse or an action is thwarted by an external or an internal force.I was ready to tear what's left of my hair out because a certain musician who had turned up on both of these gigs drives me insane with his playing. It is difficult to describe to civilians, but you musicians will know what I mean when I tell you what this man does to frustrate me: he plays way too loud, doesn't listen and, worst of all, rushes like a mo'fo' constantly. There is nothing I can do to make the music feel good because

I came to this question after a particularly frustrating piece had me nearly banging my head on the table. Not that I actually was. All the head banging would mess up all the tiny beads lined up just so. A brisk walk after this little meltdown got me thinking. Do I actually enjoy creating jewelry any more? The answer came almost instantly, and it wasn't all driven by frustration, "NO." I'd rather be painting, or creating a little plushie. Those things (mostly) calm me down and make me happy. Why not just leave the jewelry making to the people who actually enjoy making the jewelry? The funny thing is, I used to really enjoy making jewelry. My fir

Frustration With Online Yellow Page Directories
After living in the same city for over 35 years I moved last year to be closer to my daughter. Suddenly, I knew where nothing was and found myself at a loss to find even simple things like barbers or an independently owned store to buy a vacuum cleaner. Like any internet geek I turned to the web in general and various yellow pages directories in specific. What I found was tons of listings that had merely chosen the name of my city as a keyword and were actually located hundreds or thousands of miles away. This was not helpful, so I returned to the tried and true method of asking around. Unfortunately, my neighbors don’t seem to share my passion for local economics and thus their answer to almost every such query was either Wal-Mart or Target. Sigh. Back online I go. Recently I found a new Online Yellow Pages. Instead of focusing on the overall number of listings, Radiux spends its energy assuring that the companies listed not only actually exist, but that they are locate

The real challenge has been to remain sane when seeing all the fat asses driving by. How should I handle this frustration that I experience daily? I have a hard time blocking it out. Words from a Pink Floyd song rang threw my head - "If you don't eat your meat - you can't have any pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your Meat!" Translated - "If you don't enter a trade - How can you make any money. How can you make any money, if you don't enter the trade!!!!!"-Four Big Mouth stocks and this is how they should have been played. - First TSRA - short on premarket popped at 43.95, stop at 44.40. Quickly after open stop moved down to 43.90 and stopped out (break even). Later at 10:30 go long for a gain.-Second GLW - go short on open 27.10, stop at 27.40. Follow stock down for a nice gain. No Heat.-Third TOT - go short on open 83.05, stop at 83.75. After open moved stop down and get stopped out for a break even trade. Later around 83.05 go long for a half point gain.-Forth CY - go short get stopped for break even. Go long and get stopped for break even. -So you play TO and TSRA with 1000 shares and CY and GLW with 2000 shares. Net in my mind sho

Stuntman: Ignition demo Now Live! Grown men everywhere weep in frustration
There are a few games that with only a mere mentioning can make gamers across the globe cringe. Most are because of just how truly awful they were, games like E.T., Superman, Big Rig and Galleon (it sucked, accept this). But there are also a select few games that make gamers cringe, scowl and openly cry out in pain for another reason. A far more sinister reason. Games like Contra, Ghosts n’ Ghouls, Battletoads, and Stuntman invoke these feelings of sheer dread and despair. Why? Because they’re freaking IMPOSSIBLE! THAT’S WHY! Now, as Major Nelson is more than happy to tell us, the demo for the sequel, Stuntman: Ignition is now available for download over Xbox Live. So, go on. Download it. Let yourself be driven to tears all over again. You all have fun with that. As for myself… I’m staying far, far away. Far away. Far. Frustration at the wrong time
All loyal blog readers following my posts might know that I just started my new semester and will have a lot of pressure learning new stuffs like taxation, audit and some more advanced accounting syllabus. What I always don't like about classes is that during the class, I can't follow! Doomed... I don't mean I don't like classes, it's just that frustration will grow at once. Luckily YP is a cool-headed guy is situation like this but still, there's some frustration left in me.My class session is from 9am to 5pm today, which of course multiplied the degree of frustrations every minutes gone by. I decided to vomit it all out in my blog or at least, replying some emails and comments might open my mind a bit. Things don't always go our way, even when we are in the state of despair or maybe sorrow...What happened you might ask? Well, before you guys and girls reading at this, do you find accessing my blog a bit troublesome and there seems to be some bug? Worst thing that happened to m

Musings on Art and Fear Frustration
I decided to start reading Art and Fear again - it's one of those books that I pick up from time to time. I do think the title is all wrong though. HACK: Overcome gamer frustration
It happens to the best of us. A race, a boss, a level, a puzzle, a mission or a quest that seems impossible to beat. We try a dozen times in one sitting, swear at the screen, pull the plug and go do something else while we cool off. This feeling can severly impede our enjoyment of a game, and it's most of the reason why walkthroughs and FAQs get written. Below are a number of tips to help get over the feeling and conquer the obstacle giving you trouble.1. Recognize the signsHow do you know you're suffering from gamer frustration? Symptoms may include: yelling, swearing at inanimate objects (electronic devices, the game itself), incoherent screaming, muttering, throwing of controller, mashing keyboard, hitting of monitor or TV screen, throwing of mouse. If you start pulling out your hair, seek immediate medical attention.2. Immediate responsePause or open the main menu. This will give you a chance to gather your thoughts, calm down, and decide what to do next.3. AnalyzeFrustration is t

      Frustration & A Contest
Ugh I am so frustrated with paypal. Refer back to this post. I received my 2nd replacement card and guess what? I can’t activate that one either!!! I called them again and they said basically the same thing. I have to request ANOTHER one because in the system it says that the card that I just got is damaged. The lady that I talked to kept apologizing but that’s not good enough. I think something’s up with their system and they need to figure it out. Now I have to wait another 2 weeks to get 3rd card that I probably won’t get to activate. On to better things. The Pinks & Blues Girls are having a The Body Shop / Vera Bradley Contest! Did I hear The Body Shop? Yep, that’s right. I sponsored the contest with a Coconut Body Butter. This maxed out my chance to win that gorgeous Vera Bradley bag though, lol. So go on over and enter, make sure you thoroughly follow the rules! Good luck! Thanks Audrey, Jane, & Sharon! Contest Plugging: Win a $50 Kangaro

      Hollywood's YouTube frustration grows
Google and its YouTube subsidiary are trying Hollywood's patience. The search engine has made significant progress in recent weeks signing content partnership deals for YouTube. But a growing number of studio executives, irritated by no-shows at meetings and canceled test programs, say they are frustrated with Google's inability to scrub the site of copyright-infringing material. While CEO Eric Schmidt made big news in Las Vegas two months ago when he said the company was very "close to turning" on a system that will streamline the takedown process, when that system actually will be deployed is a mystery.Adding to the agitation, copyright-filtering technology is already in use at smaller video sites such as Guba, Dailymotion.com and Eyespot. Even Microsoft has installed the features for which Hollywood is clambering on its Soapbox site.

Growing frustration with the performance of the Democratic Congress over the Iraq war
Dissatisfaction with the Democrat's over the failure to stand up against the Iraq war is staring to show in the polls, and the media. Source: The washington post"Disapproval of Bush's performance in office remains high, but the poll highlighted growing disapproval of the new Democratic majority in Congress. Just 39 percent said they approve of the job Congress is doing, down from 44 percent in April, when the new Congress was about 100 days into its term. More significant, approval of congressional Democrats dropped 10 percentage points over that same period, from 54 percent to 44 percent."

Game Development - Frustration
Frustration in gaming is something which I wrote about quite some time ago, and is still something which I think every game developer needs to be acutely aware of. That is not to say that frustrating games are unpopular - in fact I would say that Counter-Strike has single handedly proved that is not the case. However, I do think that player frustration is something that needs to be dealt with. Consistently frustrating experiences invariably lead to bad attitudes. Road rage would be an extreme example. Given my past experiences in online browser games, this has been at the forefront of my mind throughout the development process of The Project. Seeing as it will be a game where there are no computer opponents, both the winners and losers are human. The last thing a player wants when they’re on a losing streak is to be plagued by irritating problems which serve only to frustrate, and stop the user from getting on with the game. For a project with such a big focus on community, bad

Frustration: The Losing Streak & Not Putting Together...
Ok, we have yet lost another game. I just got done listening to the game right now via WHFS and it's a bit frustrating.Overall, I am not happy as a fan right now. For a team with so much talent, the Orioles are falling short. Trachsel did decent today, and kept the Orioles in it, but the offense once again could not get anything going at all.I'm a person who likes to stay positive in light of the bad, but we have a lot going on here and basically, the ship needs to be righted if we have any chance of contending, much less finishing around .500.It seems that the offense is still struggling in spots, and leaving guys on base. and the pitching really needs to get deeper in games. Furthermore, we walk way too many guys in general -- the pitchers need to throw strikes and if the batter hits it, make them work for it. Right now, the bullpen is being used way, way too much and it being only May; therefore, if the trend keeps up, there might be an injury or two and cases of tired arms.I expe

      Windows Vista Driver Frustration
I like my Windows Vista and find it overall a good operating system.  However, my frustration isn’t with Vista or Microsoft, but with the companies that create drivers.  What is the deal with companies like HP, NVidia, Sigma Tel, and others that can’t get their act together and provide drivers.  Microsoft publicly beta tested Vista for well over a year and yet, these companies have not provided efficient drivers for hardware.  There are other companies as well, so I am not just slamming these companies, but there IS NO EXCUSE!  I could easily shift to software vendors like Adobe and Apple for iTunes, but other sites have reported their ineptness.  I know there are other frustrated Vista users with hardware and software issues thanks to the slowness of the manufacturers and/or incompetence.  Microsoft posted an update driver for my audio device and then it quit working, thanks, Sigma Tel.  Also, I’ve heard nightmare reports on NV

      Six degrees of frustration
I like to cause kak on the roads. I like to make people know that they have erred. I like to be the guy that jumps in front of you if you jump a red robot. I did this yesterday; some guy jumped the robot (strike one) nice and slowly on his cellphone (strike two). So I quickly shot in to first gear and popped in front of him in the middle of the road. Instead of reclining in his chair in shame he rolled down his window, stopped talking on his cellphone and launched at me with profanities like I haven't heard since my days at Uni (strike three).Like any dignified man would, I yelled back throwing equally horrid rubbish from my mouth at this man. We yelled for about 30 seconds and satisfied I drove off.I think that it took about 2 minutes for me to hit panic stations. I immediately spoke to myself:Nic: What the F*ck did you just do?Self: You just ruined a couple of business opportunities.Nic: What the hell are you talking about?Self: Well, what if you go in to your meetings next week and

      Frustration...
That is the prevailing theme of the last several weeks. It seems that most everyone I’ve spoken with has the same impression. I don’t know if it’s some mystical master plan of the universe or if there is a black cloud hanging over the heads of everyone I’ve come into contact with, but things are far more insane than usual.Several people I work with expressed feelings that the world is becoming increasingly selfish and rude. I don’t disagree.Friends have come to me with stories of crazy and sometimes bizarre behavior they have witnessed recently. I can certainly relate. What is going on?I recently watch a little flick titled “Idiocracy”. It’s about an average Joe and a slightly below average Jane who are frozen for 500 years and when reanimated, they find that the world has deteriorated to such a degree that they are now, by far, the smartest and most reasonable people in the world. In the year 2505 the Oscar for everything goes to a film titled “Ass”. Cheltenham 1 Crewe Alex 1... more frustration!
A few years ago losing points to Cheltenham would have been a disgrace. Tonight, just a couple of days into 2007, Crewe Alexandra must be grateful for a point. Spending almost a decade in the Championship (level two of the English pyramid) is but a faint memory. Desperate fans can now smell the bottom division. The worst thing about the whole fiasco is that the club seems to be powerless (or unwilling) to tackle the issues head on. I've backed manager Dario Gradi for years. He's gives 100% and has worked hard to build a solid foundation at the club. However, things have gone horribly wrong at Gresty Road since Dean Ashton moved on. Secrecy behind the scenes is one thing, but stories about the gaffer losing the dressing room have done little for supporter confidence. Moreover, after 23 years you have to ask if the great man has taken us as far as he can? Perhaps it is time to move aside. Let's get one thing straight - I DO NOT want to see Dario sacked. He does not deserve that. The t

French Frustration: Sluggish Wine Market a Blow to National Pride
For the French, wine is part of their national identity. Tough times in the vineyards are a blow to national pride and frustrating to those looking to maintain the country's leadership in an evolving world market. Some things, like the glut of juice on the world market, are beyond the control of French winemakers. Others, like modernizing the marketing of French wine, are wrestled with as if someone was suggesting the colors on the French flag should be changed to green, purple and black. French wines have long carried the name of their appellation as their key identity. Bordeaux, Burgundy, Alsace and other regions have loyal followings. If your wine comes from one of the "in" regions, things are mostly good. If you are outside of one of these areas, it's not so good. Things are particularly tough on the mid-level vin de pays wines. The French Agriculture Ministry recently released a report that showed 70 per cent of winemakers in the Languedoc-Roussillon region lost money last year.

I wonder if any one else has had this experience... Last Sunday I bought some bamboo knit at Joann's for $14.98 a yard. I asked for 1.125 yards to make a top. When I returned home, I washed it and dried it in the dryer on LOW. It came out very soft. However, when I went to cut it out, I realized that I had only 33.5 inches of fabric. That meant that it shrank 7", or the store's cutter had sh
