They've expanded too, now taking up three times the space of the average NY fruit stand, on the West side of University Place, right below 14th Street. One of things I really enjoy baking is individual desserts. I do not know if it’s the concept of receiving my very own dessert or the fact that it is a miniature version of a larger dessert. Whatever the reason I just love the individuality of a personal dessert.I made these the other day for my friend Lucy. We meet once a week for coffee and I usually provide the dessert. She is one of my dear friends and I treasure the hour here and there that we can get together to catch up.Back to the financiers for a moment, you can use just about any type of berry with the recipe. Fruit de la passion
O maracujá é uma fruta sensual. De cheiro bom. A planta é formosa. As flores trepam (aiii!!!) pelas paredes e árvores, feito gentinha, assim, diria, apelativa. Do nome arcaico murucuiá, virou maracujá.

      Fruit of Spirit Kindness
The Lord has been dealing with me a lot lately concerning my dependence upon Him. This dependence must be in every area of my life. When I started blogging a year ago I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I have been hurt, discouraged and forced to look more deeply at who I am. Though most painful, this has stretched me and caused me to grow. But I have also made many friends along the way. They have encouraged me, spurred me on and challenged me which has also caused me to grow. The Lord is actively at work in my life and I have a peace that passes all understanding. I have been allowed to be a blessing to others and the Lord continues to open new doors of ministry for me in the blogging world. This adds a great responsibility I did not anticipate and is one I constantly feel ill-e

      Papaya Fruit
Eating ripe papaya is one of my favorites. RIght now I am chewing the fruit that I have sliced a while ago. I preferably dip it in salt. It's so crunchy and yummy. Others want it to dip in vinegar with salt. My husband Noel wants to dip it with mayonaise. Weird!? Papaya in the Philippines especially here in our place Davao City is available the whole year round. It has many dishes to make, like atsara (papaya salad), it can serve and eaten after dining as side dish, the unripe one could mixed in the chicken soup, papaya juice and a lot more. Sometimes it has a medicinal uses. Mine was eaten raw together with my family. The papaya is regarded as a fair source of iron and calcium; a good source of vitamins A, B and G and an excellent source of vitamin C (ascorbic acid). Let's Eat and taste t

      Feisty Fruit Flies
On the continental island of New Guinea, there has evolved a quite extraordinary version of fruit flies that over millions of years have colonised the world.A fruit fly with antlers. Only the males have them and the size of these strange extensions of the insect's cuticle has a significant effect on their mating success. Just like a rutting moose or deer this antlered fruit fly must fight with other males for the privilege of mating. It's a pushing contest to decide ownership of a select spot on this fallen mahogany tree. A battle royal over a site where there is a fungus in the wood that will be ideal food for their larvae. One of these males has claimed such a fungus patch, and is determined to win the right to mate here.Even when he's proved his strength and is exercising

      Shady Fruit (Or, Krautastic Tuesday)
This week's Krautastic Tuesday is about Schadenfreude.I originally meant to post this after the Governor-Hooker scandal broke weeks ago...given that the entirety of New York State was indulging in some heavy duty Schadenfreude. The German language is littered with long compound words...instead of making up new words to describe things, ye olde German speakers decided it was better - maybe more efficient - to just slam two existing words together.A perfect example of this is perhaps the German language's greatest contribution to English:SchadenfreudeIt literally means damage joy.In English, it connotes taking pleasure in someone else's pain. Here it is - in glorious use - from Avenue Q:NICKY:Oh, Schadenfreude, huh? What's that, some kinda Nazi word?GARY COLEMAN:Yup! It's German for "happines
