      Friday afternoon:
Very quiet day for me, as I'm only long Silver futures currently which I bought late last night with Silver down 5%+. Over the next weeks, it appears it will be a good trade to buy dips in various commodities (agriculture and metals) until stopped out. We had just one day trade today...

      Friday afternoon:
Accounts hit new all time highs again today, although not a blowout to the upside. Several decent trades consisting of shorting bond futures, and long gold have worked for marginal gains. This environment is so shaky, that my "long" and "short" candidate list has had the same names on both lists at different times of the day. This rarely happens, and is usually indicative of market conditions...

how to while away a Friday afternoon
Look at all the pretty things at Ebay. All are under $10 at the time of posting, and all have at least a few hours left. As usual, click the images to go to the auctions.Vintage millinery trims. Wouldn't these look lovely pinned on a lapel? Or tied on top of a gift?Yes, it's plastic. But it's VINTAGE plastic. And that makes all the difference. Perfect weekend bag, don't you think? They're pink and fluffy and pretty. Stick them in a little clear glass bottle on your dressing table and just feel happy when you look at them.Aviators = the hotness. Enough said.Yes, summer is almost over. But it's a green crepe-paper fan! How ladylike is that??? Also a very classy alternative to sweating at, say, a baseball game. The seller has several more equally charming ones. It's a hat that looks like a blooming shrub! But it's also very Louis Vuitton S07, don't you think? (BTW, I think it's being modeled by a man, so that might explain why it's sort of...perched.)A feathery hat! In hot pink!

      Friday Afternoon Open Thread
It's finally Friday afternoon, there's hint of spring in the air here in Chicago (though not really because cubbiejulie is wearing capri pants and sandals and freezing her a** off in 48-degree weather), as it's supposed to rocket into the 80s this weekend. I'll even admit to feeling a *tad* optimistic about the fact that The Riot has been crowned our new starting shortstop. We've won one in a row. And we have a night game on tap against the hated Deadbirds. Speaking of on tap, since this is a Friday night game, this might be a good time to share some tips for enjoying the game with/drowning your misery in the wonders of alcohol. That's right, my friends, I'm talking about drinking games. Cubs drinking games, to be specific. My favorite Cubs drinking game is called "Shut Up, Bob!", wherein the player must take a drink every time cubbiejulie yells "Shut up, Bob!" at the teevee. This happens more often than you might think, especially once Bob starts a) waxing nostalgic about his

      A Friday Afternoon
I was going to make a blog entry, but instead I played my vibraphone. I think it was a good decision. I discovered two things as well: 1) It is much easier to sing and play than I thought it would be.2) I accompanied myself on a song I wrote several years ago. My feelings at the time were different than they are now, and singing the song was a nice reflection on how time can change things.

      Friday Afternoon at the Fights
Here's a few very entertaining Penguin-related brawls that just found their way into the Mondesi Inbox: First, we're treated to a brawl in which Tom Barrasso literally gets his goalie mask punched off of his face by Bob Probert (at the 1:25 mark of the video) in a game from Tommy's Buffalo days.Next, we get a heavyweight bout between Francois Leroux and Tony Twist from a few years back. I think it's funny when we hear the outrage of the Knicks-Nuggets fight but hear nary a peep from the national media when something like this goes down. I know, it's "the tradition of hockey", so it's OK.
