Completely stopped in traffic listening to AM news radio for any mention, checking the iPhone traffic map (which by the way has some major delayed info) and reading news while watching the wife and daughter getting uneasy and just falling asleep.I’ve been in some pretty bad traffic jams but this was the worse and menacing ever, not because we were stopped but largely because of the people in the cars around us. Thanks to RegisPicked up the mantle that Pavement dropped circa Wowee Zowee without sounding too much like Pavement... Grandaddy really had something good with this album and Sophtware Slump. The songs are simple but not boring. Their lo-fi sound and Jason Lytle's fragile voice makes for a perfect combination and the resulting tracks sound very sad and distant while still rocking along in most cases. This album feels very much about place and it's an enjoyable experience to step into Grandaddy's world for a little while.

After the break is Just’s latest interview on 106 & Park, its fairly brief, but the brotha does talks about two of his favorite productions of all time, and how he first became affiliated with the ROC. Also after the interview it cuts to one of my favorite joints of all time, Freeway’s - ‘What we do’ off of his freshman (and classic) album “Philadelphia Freeway“. Onsmash also said, “smh at them playing ‘Umbrella’ for name that beat”, but you do have to remember that the BET audience isn’t cultured at all, and their definitely not knowledgeable when it comes to hip-hop. Theater magazine Playbill recently took note of the fact that Freeway and Jay-Z's new single, "Big Spenders," uses a pretty heavy sample of Shirley Bassey's "Hey, Big Spender" from the musical "Sweet Charity." No offense, but, well, DUH!

This was taken on a Saturday morning which explains the lack of cars.  Transportation is an interesting issue.  When it comes to freeways everyone wants an easy commute to work but almost no one wants to live near a freeway.  They removed historic homes in our neighborhood to put in this section of 35E.      The neighborhood fought the freeway for 15 years.  As a result it is called a parkway, trucks are not allowed on it and the speed limit is 45.  It isn't really a parkway it is a freeway with a lower speed limit.  It has a design speed of 70, which makes it almost impossible to go 45.  In about 10 more years no one will remember for sure why the speed limit on this stretch of freeway is 45.   Did the neighborhood win the fight?  The houses are gone and the speed limit on the freeway is 45.
