Adobe has announced that no further development will be devoted to FreeHand, which Adobe acquired when they acquired Macromedia in 2005. This competitor to Illustrator was last updated nearly four years ago, and named FreeHand MX. Adobe will no longer update or patch FreeHand for new operating systems or hardware (including Intel Macs), but they will continue to sell and offer support for FreeHand MX. (more…)

PhotoS is a simplistic tool which transforms photographs into Freehand Sketch. You don’t need to have any technical knowledge, just load your photo and hit the “Draw Sketch” button. Ofcource, you can fine tune elements such as line width and detail level, but that’s simple as well.PhotoS is a shareware, you can download and try it upto 30 conversions, after which you’ll have to buy a license key. Photoshop experts can create better looking sketch, but it needs some time and patience.

La casa de desarrollo de software Adobe anunció que descontinuará el programa de diseño vectorial FreeHand, uno de los primeros de este tipo usados en ordenadores Macintosh, y el cual será remplazado totalmente por el Illustrator CS3, recientemente lanzado por la compañìa.En su blog corporativo, fuentes de Adobe explicaron que esa casa “no tiene entre sus planes realizar y publicar versiones nuevas de FreeHand o proporcionar parches y actualizaciones para los nuevos sistemas operativos”.De esta forma, Adobe pone punto final al programa que desde hace cuatro años no tenía revisiones considerables y que desde la adquisición de Macromedia, que originalmente lo distribuía, parecía condenado al olvido.Sin embargo, los dueños de Flash e inventores del PDF anunciaron que facilitarán la migración de los usuarios actuales de FreeHand MX al Illustrator CS3 y quienes decidan actualizar la versión con este software recibirán descuentos de hasta 200 dólares.Vía: Weblog

Adobe ha comunicado que dejará de desarrollar el FreeHand aunque la versión MX se venderá hasta finales de este año. Los desarrolladores de Adobe han argumentado que el FreeHand se puede migrar al Illustrator CS3 además de tener mejoras no implementadas el las versiones de FreeHand. The application has not been revised since Macromedia released MX nearly four years ago, after which the company removed FreeHand from the Studio product line.
