Free Range TV is currently still open for submissions (the deadline has been extended), and entry is free - they are seeking films that reflect the theme of tuning into your community with a duration length of five minutes or around abouts. If you have already made a film that fits into this theme then pop over to their website and print out the entry form. Even though this competition runs out of Melbourne, International entries are welcome. So let your filmmaker friends know about it. It isn't a huge festival but it is certainly going to be fun down at the pub slurping beers and watching films.
Free range chickensNot bad free range results for my first try. Not that I can take credit − it just shows the quality and varied interests of my wonderful readers. Maybe I'll try this again sometime. I was thinking it might be a good way for those who are thinking about blogging to "get their feet wet."Here are some of the internet tips, jokes, and shameless self-promotion left by readers. It's shameless because when you have an invitation to promote yourself, there is no need to be ashamed!Ruthy said... Free range chickensI got this great idea from reading a now-closed blog. You've heard of free range chickens? They go where they want, do what they want, eat what they want. Wanting to take another weekend off, we are going to have free range posts in the Blogicito's comment section. I'm going to depend upon you faithful readers to keep each other entertained! What a fabulous idea!Have you discovered a fascinating new blog or started one yourself? Tell us all about it. Shameless self-promotion is encouraged. Tell us a funny story or a yummy recipe. Laughs are always a good thing. Give us a link to a great article, photo, video, music, or cartoon − even your own. Your topic doesn't have to be about Honduras or gardening, although it can be if you like. If you aren't prepared right now, come back later. If it's really great stuff, I'll move it to the front page, take an extra day off, and maybe even use that great colorful hammock. :-DI'm going to get you started. Now click
I wish I could type while driving – you know, have a QWERTY right there in the steering wheel. Why?Because that is where I get my best ideas. When I am driving alone, going somewhere or heading home, ideas roam free range through my head.I constantly declare “OMG! I MUST post about that!”I brainstorm and conjure up memories long buried of funny things that happened.I laugh.I giggle.I plan to write until my fingers bleed of all the funny things that happen throughout the day. I plot stories and anecdotes. I recall sarcasms that hit the bullseye leaving the target speechless.I get home. Boot up the laptop.*poof*Hunting season has opened and the free range of my brain is empty.*blink*Nothing but space. So I forego writing and surf. I read everything everyone else has managed to get into written word and marvel at their prowess. How do they do it?(and someone once told me to use a tape recorder to capture my ramblings – however I hate the sound of my own voice and couldn’t possibly
The NeoCon Command Center has a nice post revealing more of what some people elected this past November. Which I guess is better to these folks than a president that is said "to lie," vs politicians that actually do.A few thoughts before I hand you over.San Fran Nan hid nice and low hiding what she was truly about until after the election; oddly enough they all did, with the exception of the more Conservative Dems that were the poster children for electoral purposes only. The Nightmare Act"A new version of the bipartisan DREAM Act, which addresses the tragedy of young people who grew up in the United States and have graduated from U.S. high schools but whose future is circumscribed by current immigration laws."We have a this time, a government that refuses to do anything about immigration reform; unless of course it can be done in a "comprehensive" manner. This is much better than allowing enforcement first, followed by fixes to other portions lacking; thereby allowing all manne
