Val’s dog is doing well and resting peacefully on the couch. Silly Piggy apparently ate something strange but it’s gone from her system now because the vet gave her a Barium …. let’s not discuss it any further, ok? Few things are worth over $300, Frances is. Today her dog is sick. Frances is one of three. The other two are boys, Jack Russell terriers. They are freaking out because Frances is gone. Val rescued the Scottie from the humane society years ago. This dog is her baby. And Miss Frances is spending time in the hospital tonight. One of the dog’s problems is a cancerous growth on her side which will be removed. And silly Frances is throwing up blood.
She also has roundworms. Val let fly on Mental Kudzu, her blog tonight about the roundworms. Really went off on our neighbors… the ones with all the cats.

While surfing the other day I ran across a portrait of "Frannie" Benjamin. I'd never heard of her before but the photograph grabbed my attention, especially the caption. Can something old be new again? You bet.I found a brand spanking new reprint of an old classic at the library: "The Zen of Seeing", by Frederick Franck, a book originally published in the early seventies. The book itself is a very lovely creation - it's not typeset, but handwritten (as all love letters should be, Franck tenderly explains) and illustrated with wispy, minimalist (well, zen) drawings, all by the author himself.
