What Andersonville Prison was like when my 3rd Great Grandad was there. Upon reading my very first post you probably thought I had family that fought just for the Confederacy but Yes I had family members that fought for the North and the South! Here is a historical background of why it existed and the horrors that happened there. The darkest and most horrible element did not come from the battlefie

Part two in my demented series that chronicles that exceptionally naive question: “So what exactly do Stay-At-Home-Moms do all day?” If this post isn’t enough for you, you can read Part One by CLICKING HERE, but by the end of this post I doubt anyone will be so inclined. Are you ready? Well, [...]
"Fourteen Reasons Why Dieting Is Bad For Your Health" was written by Paul Wilson from nodietdiet.co.uk1. The lower the calories eaten per day, the harder it is for you to get your daily requirements of proteins and vitamins.2. Dieting makes your body believe it is starving so it starts to save fat, as this is its best way to store energy.3. Losing weight means digesting your own body tissues inste

...visitors. Three-hundred and fourteen posts. More boogers than I care to mention. But my blog is a year old. Happy Birthday, Three Girl Circus!I remember think a year ago, "I'm not sure if I'll actually have any time to write anything...or anything to write about, but maybe I'll post some pictures once a week or something." Well, 314 posts later, you see I must have found time and content. And a new hobby too!So where's the cake?!?
Fourteen years ago today, I said "I do" to my best friend. I never would have dreamed back then the road that the Lord would take us down in the upcoming years. Had I known, honestly, I might have gotten off the train! I think that is probably why God doesn't reveal the future to us ahead of time - half the times we'd probably run away. And the other half we'd probably try and talk our way out of
Three young women are at a cocktail party. The conversation turns to their position in life, and it's clear that they're trying to one-up each other. The first one says, "My husband is taking me to the French Riviera for two weeks on vacation," and then looks at the others with a superior demeanor. The second one says, "Well, my husband just bought me a new Mercedes," and looks about with considerable pride.Young woman number three says, "Well, to be perfectly honest with you, we don't have much money and we don't have many material possessions. However, one thing I can tell you about my husband is that fourteen canaries can stand shoulder to shoulder on his erect thing."After this, the first one looks shamefaced and says, "Girls, I've got a confession to make: I was just trying to impress yo

Last week was my worst showing yet. 0-3 is what I got for sticking with my “The Jags will take one from Indy this year” and my illusion of a Saints turn around. Back to business. Even after that mess I still hold a two game lead on this character. He picked the games again this week so let’s go see what he has for me. First a look at the scores…
Last Week
TINO:0-3 (24-17 overall)
Kelloggs23: 2-1 (22-19 overall)

Nothing like a good rivalry game late in the season. For the Giants this is a game that can push them further toward the playoffs. For the Eagles…well…they can play spoiler against a team they hate. Defense should be key in this game. The Giants tore McNabb up last time they faced each other. Eli is struggling against pressure and the Eagles can bring that on D. On the offensive side of the ball for the Eagles we have to expect a whole lot of Bryan Westbrook. If that isn’t the case the Eagles really do deserve to be w

Hello RSS Subscribers! As of this writing, you are the only ones who seem to be able to see this blog. There's some weirdness happening at Blogger that has sent Film Flap into a wormhole somewhere. Type in the address or click on a link to the page, and you'll get some "redirecting error" nonsense. This really stinks (and I hope it will be repaired quickly), but I've decided to post anyway, so someone will still get something! Consider yourselves special...Fake Blood 101There's a real good chance that somewhere in your low budget efforts, you're gonna spill some blood. It's very visceral, and even a little blood can make a point. So where do we get the oozing red stuff? Our gory friends at Urban Chillers have handed out three very good recipes, including the kind that an actor can put in his mouth (mint flavored--yum!), or spew from it. Much more practical than burglarizing a slaughterhouse for prom night.Hitchcock Basic Film TechniquesI'm a big fan of Hitchcock, so any time I c
Imagine photo of refrigeratorstuffed to the gills here.It didn't turn out andI don't have timeto try to upload it again.I'm actually pretty calm even though we are having 12 people over for Sunday dinner tomorrow at one p.m. (14 counting us) and we found out late last night that we will have no electricity all day tomorrow. My loyal readers and fellow sufferers know that also means we will have no water by the time they get here. Fourteen people and no running water for flushing toilets or washing the hands.Ho hum. No big deal. My menu included pinchos (kabobs - both filet mignon and chicken) which we were going to cook on the anafre (grill) anyway, anafre con chorizo (a bean and sausage and cheese dip) which gets heated over charcoal in a special little clay serving dish also called an anafre (do you see any reason whatsoever to be confused about the Spanish language here? You could say, "Put the anafre in the anafre on the anafre" and it would make perfect sense....I guess).I alre

Was up super-early and couldn't go back to sleep, so I painted instead. Maybe I'll reward myself by going to bed early tonight! (That would be a first!) I think I've been subcousciously leaving Petey's hair for later because it's a dirty blonde - I want to make sure it's different enough than both his skin tone and the background. That'll be tonight's challenge. (That and adding blues to his skintones.)
In other news, I have a new set of articles up at Sessions.edu - about presenting your illustrations online in a portfolio. Enjoy!
I have a poster of Degas' The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer in my room. It is the first thing you see when you walk in. I like to think of the poster as a no-fail optimism-boost for whenever my spirit needs lifting.
The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer is very much a Degas piece (it is, after all, a sculpture of a ballerina), but to me, it somehow stands apart from his other works of art.
