      Four days with Inspector Clouseau
Thursday marks four days of my sitting through lectures by none other than Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau. Okay, it isn't really Peter Sellers' famous character, but close enough. A little older, portly, and with graying hair - but the exaggerated accent is there. You'd think that would be fun, wouldn't you? Yes, he did talk about how there is very little resistance keeping a man and woman apa

Four Days Left: Will The Hate Stop on Tuesday?
As we have done for the past three weeks (last week, the week before, and at the end of the first week of October), we continue to highlight the parade of hate that has surfaced from individuals and groups who oppose Obama’s candidacy. The question that remains is whether this activity will stop when the heat of the campaign ends on Tuesday (irrespective of the outcome). All Together Now!The vit

Four Days in San Francisco - Part II
Day three found us driving towards the Monterey-Carmel area. To the south of the city. We drove through Silicon Valley looking for the Mystery Spot, but the tickets were all sold out. Just before we reached Monterey we stopped at Moss’s Landing to see the sea lions. Young ones climbing on top of their elders, the elders basking in the sun on a cold day. Some fighting, pushing. It was a riot. It

Four Days in San Francisco - Part I
On a cool spring morning, just as the sun broke out in the eastern sky, five people and four bags piled themselves in to a large taxi and hurried away to catch a plane. To San Francisco. Chip, his parents and his grandparents. A red backpack, one large bag – the kind you would take for a 2 week trip to India (don’t ask, it was filled with diapers I had no intention of putting on Chip’s butt)

File This Under - Four Days Later - STILL Ticked Off
Back in December, when I decided to start this blog, and I found myself spending oodles of time surfing the web - that's what I came across the web site for the Indiana Historical Society.Indiana's Storyteller Connecting People to the PastAfter reading a tagline like this - how could a person resist signing up for a yearly membership?Well, I couldn't and so I did.By the way - you can find them here - and membership is relatively inexpensive ($40 for individual). One of the neat things about membership is that you can opt to receive some of their publications. For example - Traces (of Indiana and Midwestern History) - an "award winning" history magazine published quarterly by IHS.It came in the mail today. On the cover - Indiana's Lincoln - and on the inside, a 15 page story about Lincoln and

Three more rivers. That's eight in four days.
Once again I was putting on the river. It was a bit of a mission before reaching the river because even after all this rain we are still having problems finding it in the rivers. On the way north we looked at five different rivers to see them all at their base flows so with the only real option available to us, the Upper Lune, we headed on to the get out to kit up, man up and get on the river. During all this period we were getting phone calls from two other paddlers about paddling options and we eventually met up with them at the get in for the Upper Lune, under the huge railway viaduct. The put in for the Upper Lune is down a road, which you are not allowed to drive down so normally we carry the boats down, which isn't the nicest prospect as it goes up and down regularly and it's a serious incline and decline. However, down the side of the road is a small beck, Low Gill in fact, which I have looked at in the past and pulled my nose at. Today I did not. One of the paddlers w

NICOLE RICHIE SENTENCED TO FOUR DAYS IN JAIL: ‘Simple Life’ star must also attend rehab for DUI arrest.
Nicole Richie was sentenced Friday to 96 hours in jail, a $2,048 fine and mandatory drug and alcohol rehab for the December DUI arrest following her wrong-way drive on an L.A. freeway. The daughter of singer Lionel Richie will serve her time in a city jail rather than a county lockup, where her “Simple Life” co-star, Paris Hilton did most of her stretch. Richie may also choose to do her time in any local jail in Los Angeles County that will accept her. According to the AP, Richie was “somber and subdued” as she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs in a deal with prosecutors that helped her avoid a potential year in jail on her second DUI conviction. ************************************************************************************ HOUSE OF GLITZ: I GUESS JAIL IS THE NEW REHAB IN HOLLYWEIRD!!! She will be allowed to wear her own street clothes to the incarceration facility,

      The last four days
Friday I worked and then a lot of nothing. Friday night, more of said nothingness. Saturday. I was woken up by the man because his crew came over to put four trees in the back yard. First of all, I am not a morning person. Second of all, I am really not a sevenfuckingthirty AM kind of a gal on any day, especially a Saturday. If I could wake up at oh, say, elevenish on the weekend, I’d be all over it. Needless to say, I was cranky. Then I had to go shopping. Which makes me even crankier. The dramas didn’t want to go with me and this perked me up just a little. I could go, do the shopping, fill the car with gas, deposit the man’s check, maybe get a cup of coffee, enjoy some peace, solitude, and perhaps stroll through the garden department (after all, the crew was already here, a few more flowers wouldn’t hurt anyone, they could run the water line all at once. I was planning ahead.) All for naught. My mom wanted to go and get some things, and bla fucking bla

      Four Days. No Nap.
Four days. Four long days. Cordelia has spent the past four days declining to nap as normal, as if it was an option. However, I don't think she realizes that she really needs those naps, and without them, her mood has been nothing short of a cocaine addict going cold turkey. Also, in these past four days, other weird behaviors have emerged. Friday night, she sat between Aaron and I on the couch, playing tickle games and peek-a-boo with a pillow. Then, before we knew it, she was laying still under the pillow, fast asleep. It was still a half hour until her normal bedtime. She rarely falls asleep with other people in the room, especially us, so we were baffled. The other strange behavior is a sudden aversion to her room and her crib at naptime. Yesterday, we tried to take her upstairs for a nap in the afternoon. Normally she's happy to go upstairs, and looks forward to being in her crib, with all of her stuff. Half the time she's the one telling me she wants a nap! But this time, it was
