“I don’t know what spell I’m under, feels like something’s chasing after me.” That’s actually how this fun new album ends, and exactly how I feel as it fades out. Batdorf & Rodney were some of the albums I digitized myself back in the 90’s when it felt like there were some albums that would never come out on CD. These are guys who had a bright light shining on them for awhile, but 3

Back in December, when I decided to start this blog, and I found myself spending oodles of time surfing the web - that's what I came across the web site for the Indiana Historical Society.Indiana's Storyteller Connecting People to the PastAfter reading a tagline like this - how could a person resist signing up for a yearly membership?Well, I couldn't and so I did.By the way - you can find them here - and membership is relatively inexpensive ($40 for individual). One of the neat things about membership is that you can opt to receive some of their publications. For example - Traces (of Indiana and Midwestern History) - an "award winning" history magazine published quarterly by IHS.It came in the mail today. On the cover - Indiana's Lincoln - and on the inside, a 15 page story about Lincoln and
Once again I was putting on the river. It was a bit of a mission before reaching the river because even after all this rain we are still having problems finding it in the rivers. On the way north we looked at five different rivers to see them all at their base flows so with the only real option available to us, the Upper Lune, we headed on to the get out to kit up, man up and get on the river. During all this period we were getting phone calls from two other paddlers about paddling options and we eventually met up with them at the get in for the Upper Lune, under the huge railway viaduct. The put in for the Upper Lune is down a road, which you are not allowed to drive down so normally we carry the boats down, which isn't the nicest prospect as it goes up and down regularly and it's a serious incline and decline. However, down the side of the road is a small beck, Low Gill in fact, which I have looked at in the past and pulled my nose at. Today I did not. One of the paddlers w
Nicole Richie was sentenced Friday to 96 hours in jail, a $2,048 fine and mandatory drug and alcohol rehab for the December DUI arrest following her wrong-way drive on an L.A. freeway.
The daughter of singer Lionel Richie will serve her time in a city jail rather than a county lockup, where her “Simple Life” co-star, Paris Hilton did most of her stretch. Richie may also choose to do her time in any local jail in Los Angeles County that will accept her.
According to the AP, Richie was “somber and subdued” as she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs in a deal with prosecutors that helped her avoid a potential year in jail on her second DUI conviction.

Well this is interesting. Could an election call be just around the corner? The other parties aren't going to pull the plug. How would Harper justify going into an election even he doesn't want, if he has to ultimately engineer his own government's defeat?Yesterday, (April 12) National Newswatch featured a Political Notebook item indicating insiders were saying Prime Minister Harper would pull the plug on Tuesday, April 17. And now comes this news...The HOC's 'Projected Order of Business' for next week has changed.A National Newswatch reader writes the following:The page used to have Private Members' Bills listed for the rest of the week(past Tuesday). Now it doesn't.See for yourself: CLICK HEREAll projected business beyond April 17, has been removed from the HOC's 'Projected Order of Business' Web page.....It's too early to jump to any conclusions right now, but it's certainly worth considering, especially after this debacle:Dion announced earlier on Friday in a joint new
Friday I worked and then a lot of nothing. Friday night, more of said nothingness. Saturday. I was woken up by the man because his crew came over to put four trees in the back yard. First of all, I am not a morning person. Second of all, I am really not a sevenfuckingthirty AM kind of a gal on any day, especially a Saturday. If I could wake up at oh, say, elevenish on the weekend, I’d be all over it. Needless to say, I was cranky. Then I had to go shopping. Which makes me even crankier. The dramas didn’t want to go with me and this perked me up just a little. I could go, do the shopping, fill the car with gas, deposit the man’s check, maybe get a cup of coffee, enjoy some peace, solitude, and perhaps stroll through the garden department (after all, the crew was already here, a few more flowers wouldn’t hurt anyone, they could run the water line all at once. I was planning ahead.) All for naught. My mom wanted to go and get some things, and bla fucking bla
Four days. Four long days. Cordelia has spent the past four days declining to nap as normal, as if it was an option. However, I don't think she realizes that she really needs those naps, and without them, her mood has been nothing short of a cocaine addict going cold turkey. Also, in these past four days, other weird behaviors have emerged. Friday night, she sat between Aaron and I on the couch, playing tickle games and peek-a-boo with a pillow. Then, before we knew it, she was laying still under the pillow, fast asleep. It was still a half hour until her normal bedtime. She rarely falls asleep with other people in the room, especially us, so we were baffled. The other strange behavior is a sudden aversion to her room and her crib at naptime. Yesterday, we tried to take her upstairs for a nap in the afternoon. Normally she's happy to go upstairs, and looks forward to being in her crib, with all of her stuff. Half the time she's the one telling me she wants a nap! But this time, it was
