Seeing as I've have played this game the most so far, I will go ahead and review it. I think Team Fortress 2 is a pretty AWESOME game. The gameplay is gold, the graphics are great and unique, and the diversity in gameplay is great too. Also there is a great stats system, and little achievments you get when you, well, achieve stuff. This week Valve took the lid off of the Orange Box, allowing people who pre-purchased it to get in on the beta of Team Fortress 2. Playing the game again has been a hoot. It is a lot like Team Fortress (and Classic), only different in some key areas. It retained all that you like about the old game, 2 fort, Dustbowl, rocket jumping, flag running, engineers, and above all it maintains that feeling of tightly directed chaos that made the prior Team Fortress games great. But what it does differently is how it makes all the classes valuable, and it does away with some of the more spammy elements of the game. Remember a month or so back how Valve was kind of bragging about how they able to get interplay features working that allowed both PC and Xbox 360 owners to play in the same match? Well, turns out Valve won’t be having this feature in the final release of the game because, according to Greg Lombardi, it’s more trouble than it’s worth. Valve confirmed that the trio of new Half-Life 2 Source-powered games will be released for PC, Xbox 360 & PS3 on October 9th, 2007. The suite, sold at both retail and through Valve’s Steam download service, will consist of the shooter sequel Half-Life 2: Episode 2, the team-based multiplayer game Team Fortress 2, and the action/puzzle game Portal. Valve is handling development of the games on PC and Xbox 360, with EA UK’s Chertsey, Surrey office bringing the titles to PlayStation 3. Today’s news follows rumors originating last month that the PlayStation 3 versions of the games would be delayed into 2008. I recently ran across a blog this last weekend that, besides having one of the coolest names ever, is a great spot on the internet for toy collectors that you should go to. Right now. The Fortress of Testicular Fortitude contains a ton of pictures of toys that blog owner Shaun Wong has collected. Yeah, there are a lot of people that post pictures of their stuff online, but Shaun’s got some really great, dare I say, mouth watering pictures of TONS of great figures. Checking out his blog is like taking a trip to the musuem, the Fuggen Awesome Museum. If you dig around the archieves you’ll find lots of nifty thoughts on different figures and what not. Been playing (at least trying to figure out what I'm doing) in this incredibly ambitious simulation of a dwarf fortress by Tarn Adams of Bay 12 Games. First read about this unique game in the Jan 2007 issue of PC Gamer Malaysia.You start with a band of seven dwarves to build an outpost. Assign your dwarves tasks and watch over their needs like lodging and food and raw materials to expand your settlement. Create new equipment and weapons to advance your settlement into a real fortress with traps, workshops and fortifications - I sure hope my outpost will reach that stage eventually :)The overall gameplay seems like a very detailed combination of Settlers II's economy and Dungeon Keeper's exploration and expansion. It takes time to get into the game (especially for players not used to rougelikes as the interface entirely keyboard driven) but my opinion is that this game will really pay off for players who put enough time into the game. Last Saturday we went to the fortress island of Pampus and to Muiderslot, a medieval castle. Both were part of the Hollandse Waterlinie. It was a very nice daytrip. We had excellent weather and we had some great sightseeing. From Muiderslot there was a ferry to the fortress island. It took about 20 minutes from the castle to the island. Although short it was a nice ride on the ferry. We saw lots of sailing ships and also some old style (sailing)boats.On the fortress island we had a guided tour of about 75 minutes. It was an interesting tour. I was lucky I took both of my digital camera's because one of them broke down. Otherwise there would have been a chance I wouldn't had pictures here to share with you.After the tour we ate our lunch and waited for the ferry to take us back to the castle. Final Fortress is a "defend your base" flash strategy and shooting game. Like in most of games of this style you control a cannon and have the option to buy various upgrades and weapons to enhance your base's defence against the waves of enemy troops coming to take you down. At the end of each level, you are awarded with money depending on the results of your defending and shooting accuracy. You can spend the money to upgrade your base and repair your units. This is the strategic part of the game. If you want to survive you have to deploy new units in the right place and the same time save money for repairing them.The visuals are good, with nice sprites used for the units, realistic images for the battle field and cool explosion animations.
