When Vijay Mallya took over the Spyker F1 team and made it into Force India, I thought this would open a wonderful chance for Indian drivers to get back to the royal racing sport again.Unfortunately, this did not happen. According to the new boss, no Indian driver is good enough for the team. Rather, Force India has been forced to rely on more experienced drivers. Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil will be the team's main drivers and Vitantonio Liuzzi, another Italian in the team, will be a test driver.I believe all of the Indian fans of Formula One had been expecting to see their countrymen in the the teams outfit but we shall not forget that Formula One is not only sport but a tough business as well. While not directly affecting Formula 1, this time a juice scandal has arisen around Yu Zhifei, the former boss of Formula 1 motor racing in China. Yu was found guilty of embezzling public funds on Monday by the Wuhu Intermediate People's Court.Specifically, Yu has purchased a 172-sq-m apartment from Shanghai Wenhui Estate Developing Company through an agent for 2.43 million yuan (approx. $320,000). Moreover, there isn't even a preliminary schedule. Need a speculated one? Oh dear, here it is found on Wikipedia.However, there are a couple of facts.Fact number one is that we won't see the US Grand Prix. The Formula One bosses have decided that by the beginning of the 2011 season, all of the cars competing in the world championship will be powered by a 2.2 liter V6 turbo charged engine that will run on bio fuel.
Bio fuels are already being used in motor sport, by Audi and Peugeot in their LeMans series cars, and have done very well on it, but Formula One cars running diesel engines, it just doesn’t sound right, after all would this mean the introduction of diesel powered high performance cars such as Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin?
If they manage to pull this off, then this will certainly add some serious creditability for the future use of Bio Fuels as a long term viable replacement for gasoline in all types of vehicle.
