The current Ford Taurus is a safe and reliable vehicle with plenty of space for a family of five. The Taurus is also completely invisible in the large car market, due mostly to its vanilla appearance. The Blue Oval is hoping to correct this issue with the next generation Taurus, which is due in 2010. We've already seen a blurry photo of a handsome clay model back in April, and now the future Ford
The 2010 Ford Taurus made its first appearance in April, when a grainy picture of the vehicle's clay model surfaced on the internet. Now, spy photos of an early, heavily-camouflaged prototype of the fullsize sedan have arrived. The new Taurus will carry some elements of Europe's "kinetic design" styling, but the flamboyance of the Mondeo will be toned down for the large car using design elements fr

Jalopnik is confirming that the Taurus X will be cancelled after the 2009 model year. The original 2005 Five-Hundred and Freestyle debuted to a slow sales start and were around until 2007, when the Ford CEO Alan Mulally decided to resurrect the Taurus nameplate on the refreshened 2008 models. Along with their new names of Taurus and Taurus X, each got corporate faces with three-bar grilles as well as the automaker's new 3.5L V6. Ford must've thought sales would pick up in earnest as the 2008 models were both more interesting to look and more powerful than the vehicles they replaced. But sales didn't pick up and Mulally recently announced another major change for the Taurus: a completely new version for the next year that he calls, "the one we should have made originally." The 2008 Ford Taurus has a five star safety rating, and is being billed (by Ford) as the safest car in America. In June, 2007, they launched a series of advertising spots featuring this information. Courtesy of YouTube, here’s the first, which featured a father watching his son grow from toddler to near-adult driver.
Ratings are given annually by the Institute for Highway Safety, based on crash tests conducted on closed tracks.

The Ford Taurus is a mid-size, front wheel drive car manufactured by the Ford Motor Company in North America. It was introduced in December 1985 as a 1986 model, replacing the Fairmont-based, rear wheel drive Ford LTD.On February 7, 2007, Ford announced that the Taurus name will be revived for the 2008 model year, as the facelifted and slightly enhanced Ford Five Hundred and Ford Freestyle will be renamed the Taurus and Taurus X, respectively. The 2008 Ford Taurus is rated as the safest full size sedan in the U.S. according to the NHTSA, winning the five star award in every category.
DEARBORN, June 20, 2007 - The new Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable are rated the safest full-size sedans in America based on crash test ratings, but can safety sell a vehicle?Absolutely, says Mark O'Brien, president and general manager of Roy O'Brien Ford in St. Clair Shores, Mich."When it comes to choosing between our Ford cars, a foreign car or another domestic vehicle that all have a certain visual appeal, customers do ask the pointed question, 'What's the crash rating on this car?'" said O'Brien, whose family dealership has been selling Ford cars and trucks since 1946.O'Brien says that historically, it was predominantly mothers asking questions about safety but today, safety is a concern for many car buyers."It's not just the moms anymore," he said. "I think it's starting to filter through all society now because today's consumers have a lot of choices. So why not choose a vehicle that will help protect you if you have an accident."According to a survey conducted earlier thi
UPDATE: More images added. The first official image of the refreshed Freestyle crossover surfaced today courtesy of BlueOvalForums. Exterior changes are visible and chrome, lots of them, are visible. You might have been surprised when you noticed the title of this post. Ford dropped the F____ naming system and instead, brought back old nameplates. The Freestyle really had no ancestor, so Ford stuck an X, standing for crossover, onto the Taurus nameplate.Ford had expected large sales of the 'innovative' Freestyle when it was released in 2005. However, bland styling, coupled with an underpowered engine, retailed for a fairly high price certainly didn't appeal many. Ford's three-bar grille found on the Fusion, was added. New wheels are also visible and new taillights can be vaguely made out. Ford's new 3.5L V6 replaces the previous 3.0L V6 engine in the engine bay. Will a few exterior changes, a gussied up engine, and a new nameplate change the whole perception? We have yet to find out
The Taurus is back, well not quite. Ford re-debuted the facelifted 500 with a familiar name in Ford's archive section. The Taurus has no changes from the 500 which debuted this January in Detroit apart the new name. The new Taurus follows Ford's new naming system of bringing back old nameplates. Although the Sable and the Taurus X has yet to make its official public debut, the Taurus has already debuted as the Five Hundred this January in this year's North American International Autoshow. The Taurus is equipped with Ford's Duratec V6 engine pumping 260HP, 57HP more than the previous 500.The 500 is known for having fairly high prices since it was marketed as a full-size premium sedan. Now that it has changed to the Taurus, it would be crucial for the price to go down. A Taurus with a starting price of $24,000? Let's just sit back and see how this goes.[Source: BlueOvalForums via Ford]Follow the jump for the official press release and a high-res gallery.2008 FORD TAURUS FEATURES MORE

Ford likes SUVs so much that they build five platforms for ‘em, many of which fight amongst themselves for sales in overlapping segments. Yet the most competitive, the most relevant of Ford’s sport-utilities is also the one no one— not even Ford marketing— seems to know exists: the Taurus X, née Freestyle. Question: if a terrific CUV falls in the sales charts and nobody in Dearborn notices, does it exist?
Ive been planning to buy a grand prix gtp but unfortunately the price are too high for me to have it.
A friend have this car and wants me to buy the same model. So having not enough money for my dream car i followed my friends recommendation.
Now i have it for less than 10 months and so far has given me no problem except for the replace of transmission cooler lines.
I would like to recommend this also to everybody.

I like Automotive News [AN, sub]. Although AN often fails to ask American automakers the tough questions, at least they're not Detroit lap dogs, cheerleaders or apologists (like some news orgs I frequently name). But what's with their article on the Ford Taurus spy photo? It starts off innocently enough, chronicling the turn of events that led TTAC to post the shot (without any legal blow-back, I might add). "The buzz intensified when Ford's legal department moved quickly to force several of the Web sites to take down the picture -- leading many to conclude that the photo was the real deal. The photo vanished from the Internet for about 24 hours before it reappeared and spread rapidly." And then, suddenly, they make a not-so-bold, not-so-Woodward-and-Bernstein run fo
Not too long ago, someone snapped a picture of a full size clay model of Ford's next Taurus somewhere inside Ford's secret fortress. Today we bring you some beautifully done computer rendering done by a private citizen, anticipating what the 2010 Taurus will look like on the basis of that spy shot and Ford's European design themes. In the artist, Joshua Byrnes's own words: Design wise, the next generation Taurus blends in elements of Ford Europe's Kinetic design theme with a watered down version of the Ford Interceptor concept car, albeit looking a bit Camry'ish in the side profile. The three bar grill has evolved into something less Gillette razor-like, with less chrome and more detailing. Overall the 2010 Taurus is nothing to
