I discovered this image of the 2008 Ford Focus ST floating around the net this morning and while I can’t guarantee that it’s authentic, it sure looks like it is. While the facelifted European Ford Focus was presented in September at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show Ford hadn’t released any details or pictures of the sporty 2008 Focus ST. Carstoday.com recently reported of sighting of what looks like a revived Ford Focus RS at the Nürburgring, despite Ford’s consistent denial of such model.
Ford has repetitively said that there is no possibility of an RS successor to the Ford Focus ST, but spy pictures and speculations says otherwise. The basis? A mystery black test mule was seen around the Nürburgring.
The test car was reported to have larger front air intakes and alloy wheels, and a sizeable rear wing and is looks more like an ST.
Reports say that the RS is packaged as a rally-inspired hatch that will be powered by a 3.0-liter in-line six engine that delivers 224 or a turbocharged version of the ST’s 2.5-liter mill with 209 KW. It will also feature an all-wheel drive system from Volvo and heavily reworked by Prodrive. Some also say that the RS will compete directly to the Mitsubishi Evo X and the Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Suggestion of being unveil in the Geneva Show was also mentioned in the report.

Styling aside, the 2008 Ford Focus is a better car than the one it replaces, and Ford announced today that its pricing will begin under $15,000. For 2008, the Focus S Coupe will start at $14,695 and the Focus S sedan at $14,995. Up-level models like the Focus SE coupe and sedan will add $1,000 to those base prices, while the top shelf SES models that come with Ford's new SYNC technology standard (normally a $395 option), start at $16,695 and $16,995 for the coupe and sedan, respectively. All of these prices include a $620 destination charge, mind you. Comparing those prices to the 2007 Focus lineup is difficult, since the less expensive hatchback, which had a base MSRP of $13,715 in 2007 (not including destination), has been replaced by the new coupe body style. The sedan's base price, however, has increased from $14,040 in 2007, or $14,660 including destination charges. I’m sure you love the new Ford Mondeo, because we sure do, especially that great front part. But did you ever wondered how that front part would look on a Focus? We did that and Ford answered our question by revealing the upcoming Ford Focus facelift. And we hate it. I mean, that front part looks cool on the Mondeo, but it totally ruined the Focus. Ford also made some slight changes to the back part, but nothing important. The interior also combines parts from the current Focus generation with parts from the new Mondeo.Ford will offer a new 2.0 liter engine that develops 136 hp, a new PowerShift six-speed transmission and new features like Easyfuel capless refuelling, Ford Power button, tyre pressure warning system, 230 volt socket, LED rear lights. Informatori showed some pics of what’s suppose to be the 2008 Ford Focus Coupe. Ford has already shown the redesigned 2008 US Focus, which is a coupe look for the 3-door version, so we believe this can be possible. What we’re not sure about is that 2008 will be the year when it will be introduced, because the actual generation Focus began in 2004; so they come up with a new one after just 4 years?
