The painting is in front of you, the paintbrush in your hand, suddenly you feel excited, something happens and you just paint.
It all goes too fast, you feel uncertain where the work is going, but there is an exciting energy and you keep painting.
It is finished, you stand back. It feels wonderful. You walk away leaving the work to dry feeling exhilarated and alive.
Next day you come back. It doesn’t quite feel the same. It’s different from what you usually do, doesn’t fit the square. You wonder if it will make you look foolish. You put the work away and go back to something that feels safer, more acceptable.
This is something that happens to most creatives at some time. It’s learning to accept this process, to go with it, having the courage to look at what is being said, which new door is being opened in the work, that allows for evolvement.
