Car Maintenance 101: Bleeding your Brakes (Two-Person Brake Fluid Flushing)
While brake bleeding is a crucial part of auto maintenance, it’s not really something that people like to do. Bleeding your brakes can be an extremely messy affair, plus if you’re the guy (or girl) who gets stuck removing the bleeder screws or brake bleed screws, it requires a lot of contorting just to gain [...]

Lord Karzi. Flushing Down General Practice
Lord Karzi has spent the last few years playing with his favourite robot. The fact that his robotics costs the NHS vast amounts of money escapes him. Perhaps the finances could potentially be spent on patients who need the treatment? Just an idea. Then there is evidence based medicine. Karzi once told us that he would not do a thing until there was evidence. We know he went back on his word in the

Mets Only 2 Games Out Despite Constant IneptnessSometimes I sit and wonder why I'm still a Met fan. Rooting for this team is a full time job. All of the things that you expect to go right, go wrong - and vice versa. This is not a normal season and this is not a normal team.Starting PitchingThis is hard to figure out....Johan Santana has pitched his ass off. Thanks to the bullpen he's only got 9

Feasting at Flushing Mall Food Court
Most malls that I have been to have terrible food. They focus on bringing interesting stores and the food courts end up with just McDonald's, Wendy's, Nathan's, Pretzel Time, and Panda Express. Flushing Mall Flushing Mall, did it all backwards. Not many people visit the shady, retail stores, but their food court is always a mob scene, and for good reason: the food is good and cheap! We met up with

Look Before You Leap - Plan your campaign before flushing your money down the web toilet
One thing that constantly surprises me is the corporate sectors misunderstanding of on-line marketing. Water Filtration Systems Information Flushing Out
It is a well published fact that drinking water does the body very good. Health experts and physicians have long suggested a recommended daily water consumption of sixty-four ounces (8 glasses). A water filtration system is an exceptional investment for both your health and your bank account. They know the vital importance of water in maintaining excellent health. Just as vehicles can break down and overheat without a sufficient amount of coolant, so can you without enough water. The more active a person is, the more water they need to drink. Is That Supposed To Be In My Glass? You are aware that water is good for you. Unfortunately the chemicals and other pollutants found in tap water are not. What could be lurking in your glass of ice water is almost out of a horror movie. Most people opt

Fire hydrant flushing resumes May 1 in Nutley
The Nutley Public Safety Department advises residents that hydrant flushing will resume May 1 and continue until Sept. 30. Firefighters will be out between 10 p.m. and midnight, seven days a week. Four uniformed crews will go out while on duty and open hydrants until the water runs clear, usually 15-20 minutes. This procedure ensures a clean water supply to fire pumpers, thereby cutting maintenance costs and lengthening pump life. Occasionally the sediment and build-up being flushed can discolor the water in your home. This is not dangerous to your health but could stain laundry in your washing machine. Running your water taps should clear pipes after a few minutes. If you have any questions, call 973-284-4937.

Flushing Mistake: Mets Letting Gotay Go Down the Drain
Last year, Ruben Gotay wasn’t good enough to be the everyday second baseman, so despite his hot hitting, the Mets went out and got Luis Castillo. Now, Gotay isn’t good enough to be the backup second baseman, shortstop, or third baseman, as the Mets have placed him on waivers and are thinking of Fernando Tatis to take his spot. Why Tatis?Well, Tatis is a righty and the Gotay-haters out there will point out that while Gotay is a switch-hitter, he is more effective as a lefty. No, but really, why Tatis? Gotay is 25. Tatis is 33 and hasn’t been a full-time major leaguer since 2002, appearing in 114 games.Good point. Tatis played those 114 games (and 53 games the next season) for Montreal.Ah, yes. Tatis is an Omar man. Omar scooped up Tatis one year ago and stuck him in AAA to let him get hi

Stop flushing your dollars down the toilet: The economics of a high-efficiency toilet set
There are so many ways to save money around your own house. One of such ways is cutting on water consumption and thus reducing your water and wastewater bill. One may argue that it is not much money, but let's look at some simple math before making such conclusions. I will use my family as an example. I own a house and have three persons in my household, the two of whom are (honestly) not true

Tightwad Wednesday - Flushing Less Water & Dry Milk
Each week, I will test out two tips from the The Complete Tightwad Gazette, and on the following Wednesday I’ll review how they went and evaluate if it is worth my time/effort/money to continue with it. Well, again we have mixed results. I suppose that is to be expected though - it wouldn’t be a challenge if it was easy. Let’s get on into it. Bottle in the Toilet Trick This Tightwad tip was to help lower the amount of water used for each flush which can help save money on your water bill. You place a bottle filled with rocks in your toilet tank to displace some of the water. This reduces the amount of water used in each flush. Eric was less than thrilled that I decided to do this Tightwad tip and was very reluctant to even try it. He doesn’t like the idea of having something in the toilet that could mess up its operation or leave a mess (sand). And quite frankly, he just didn’t like the idea of less water when he flushes. After fiddling with trying to find r

Combat Rosacea, relief flushing and redness
Rosacea, characterised by flushing and acne-like bumps on the face, is a condition that occurs more frequently in people with fair skin or with a family history. It occurs when the small blood vessels in the facial skin expand too easily, the cause of which is unknown. One theory is that it’s caused by a disruption in the nervous system, since rosacea is often brought on by stress. What is certain is that environmental and emotional factors can lead to episodes of flushing. You can’t cure this condition but identifying your triggers can help control it. Basic facts The skin’s dermis contains a fine network of blood vessels (capillaries) which exchange substances such as oxygen and nutrients between the bloodstream and the surrounding tissue. When the blood vessels dilate, inflammation results, causing redness and flushing. Over time, outbreaks may increase, and the dilated capillaries can become permanent and visible on the face. What to look out for Rosacea Symptoms Symptom

On one of my last few days in New York, i made a visit to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens..... having written down a list called "the 'endless' list of the places to go before I leave". Of course, i never even came close to fufilling that list (which included The cloisters, Prospect park, brooklyn museum, anywhere in the bronx so i could at least say i stepped foot inside the bronx...=P....etc..), anyways the park was on that list. The place was empty, pretty much no one in sight..(was friggin freezing)...except for this middle aged caucasian guy jogging around the unisphere....asked him to take a photo with me in it...he was sorta reluctant...but after a bit of convicing that itd be quick...he took the camera. The guy really couldn't take a clear picture......and apparently couldn't even speak english, not being able to understand my instructions.."just half click...then push down", "can you come a bit closer?", man!!...oh well i gave up after a few tries...and he tells m

BYB Sunday: Hot Showers and Flushing Toilets
My mom and brother went to Africa for a few weeks with a team of people several years ago. Their African hosts welcomed them with open arms, feeding them every place they went whether or not they had just eaten. They came back with many stories--particularly bathroom stories.Toilets consisted of holes in the ground where they had to strategically place their footing and balance while doing their business. Discreetness was minimal. At first chance to bathe, their hosts offered hot showers--the royal treatment which they reserved for guests. Thrilled about a hot shower, they accepted. Their leader shook his head and headed for a cold shower. The rest of the team waited for a pot of cold water to heat over an open fire which they discovered made a very long wait for barely tepid water. They quickly learned to take fast, cold showers if they wanted to be clean. The first thing my mom wanted to do when she returned home was take a hot shower. It was no surprise that she rejoiced for the next
