Zoning out is a usual occurrence for me, but today it’s been ten times worse because of all the fluff that was stuffed into my ears when I was looking the other way. Really. I feel like my whole head is being covered by a pillow and the person smothering me with it [...]
This is an unusual recipe that tastes so yummy. We have this in place of traditional fruit salad with our Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas dinner. I make individual serving bowls of this and garnish it with pineapple and chopped pistachio nuts on top. It is very easy to make and it just tastes good! I call it fluff because it does have a fluffy texture and makes a nice addition next to the c
I started to write a post about how I feel bad that my blog has been greatly lacking substance. I don’t like fluff, but it’s what’s coming easy at the moment. So I guess this is my thank you to those of you who continue to visit me anyway. I do have some things brewing [...]
We’ve been noticing a trend of people displaying their support for Barack Obama’s Democratic presidential campaign by using his logo as their avatar, or visual representation on the web. We thought, “what can we do to show our support?”
So we created Logobama, a place for you to create your own custom Obama logo and use [...]
Okay, I may have watched the BBC's Pride & Prejudice to death (along with the inferior recent version) but, I've only seen snippets of Sense & Sensibility. I once had a whopping great girl crush on Kate Winslet but the duck faced Emma Thompson really prevented me from giving Sense the full watch. OBVIOUSLY I missed the bits when he of the dark velvet voice, Alan Rickman filled the screen

My parents are coming to visit for the weekend and having recently reclaimed my sanity and learned the very important lesson that no, doing the dishes is not optional (took me seven years, that did), I'm keen to show them our new home in all its glory. There may even be floor washing, though I make no promises. If I'm able to effect any huge changes on our mildly chaotic home, I may post some befo

Bollywood is smarting under two box-office disasters - Yash Raj Films’ star-studded Tashan and Filmkraft’s Krazzy 4.
Their failure has proved that gloss, style and fluff cannot be a mantra for success without a convincing script.
Though still running in cinemas, the poor show of the two films has already caused a combined loss of [...]

About this time every year we Iowans decide that the winter has dragged on long enough and pulled us kicking and screaming through its frosty hallways far too many times to be useful anymore. This usually leads to bitching about the weather at every opportunity until our repertoire resembles that of an accomplished [...]
I’ve had a semi-productive day today.
We pulled all of our christmas stuff out of the attic, ready to put our tree up after Thanksgiving.
Both dogs have been washed. The bathroom has been cleaned, and 4 out of umpteenthousand loads of laundry has been washed. (They lay on the sofa now, begging to be folded.)
Does anyone else out there have a bottomless laundry basket?
It worries me that its just myself and my husband and I never seem to catch up on laundry. If its this bad with just the two of us, how am I ever going to cope when I finally convince him to give me a daughter.
And now, though I have clean dogs but because of the still damp dogs running around it I have a house that smells like wet dog.
And I need a bath of my own, which is easy enough to accomplish but I hate bathing so early. I hate doing anything early. I’m such a night owl.
Just listen to me hoot.
Now somebody tell me what I want for supper.
Firstly, its Friday and that means its time to weigh in.
At the end of my THIRD week of my diet I lost…..1 pound.
Not as good as the 6 pounds I lost the first week, or the 5 pounds I lost the second week, but 1 pound gone is better than any pounds back.
Total loss: 12 pounds!
Only 110 more to go.Oh, and Kittyn, I LOVE the George Foreman dvd. Thanks for recommending it to me!
Secondly…..
Well, I’ve not put a lot of thought into secondly. Currently I’m all wrapped up in my firstly.
Thirdly I need more coffee.
And wasn’t my Thursday Thirteen crazy! I get more comments on those things than the rest of my blog gets ever.
Also, I found out that most people have never even heard of most of the shows I miss. One of them doesn’t much care for the shows I miss and all the rest like at least one of them, so I guess that means they have good taste.
So, as I mentioned before I’m doing NaNoWriMo (my word count sucks and I should be working on it instead of blogging) and a
This week I bought 'dippin' dots' for my kids at the grocery store. You know, those little round frozen balls of ice cream that up until about a year ago were only available at amusement parks and fairs? Now my local grocery store sells them and I bought various flavors, including one that quickly became their favorite; Cookies and Cream.
This reminded me of a very popular, easy dessert that

I've been having trouble coming up with new and fresh ideas for the ol' blog, you know?I mean, it's been almost three years since I started this damned thing...oops...cherished tome of mine, and I need help. So in the interest of pulling myself up by my pitiful bootstraps, I did find some ideas. Please note that this blog provided the springboard for me, but please don't hold them responsible for the results.1. Create a mission statement for your blog.OK...first off, the term "mission statement" gives me hives. Seriously. Big ol' oozing hives. I know there are plenty of people that SWEAR by them, but I'm not one of them. Not by a LONG shot.Why?1) I don't really HAVE a mission. If you want to call a mission "Let's make fun of politicians, celebrities, and others that get put in the news for their conceit and/or stupidity" PLUS world/life observations from an overweight artificial redhead that has a chronic case of foot-in-mouth disease, then mission f'ing accomplished,
it has finally happened, turd blossom himself is set to be forced to testify, in public, under oath, before congress on his role in the firings of gonzo's us attorneys. so kudos to congress for, ya know, actually doing something, especailly after the crappy deal that fred fielding (the president's white house counsel) offered them. moreover, you know you're in trouble mr. president when you've called fred fielding in for help. (note: mr. fielding was a deputy white counsel under another president during a scandal. yep, you guessed it, nixon and watergate).not like rove testifying will actually happen, but the idea of rove and miers before a limelight-hogging committee is kinda nice. anywho, the president will surely cite executive privilege (cause they were private conversations) as a way out of this one, and it will all get thrown into the dc circuit court where another recently installed us attorney will have to decide to convene a grand jury on contempt of congress charges f
Scripps-Howard News Service and Capt. Comics continue to trash-talk about Civil War, even about the ending to it, and I'm just plain bored silly by their would-be admittal that it's all just a cop-out:For the better part of a year, Marvel characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man and Captain America have been involved in a company-wide conflict called "Civil War." Back in May, a Superhero Registration Act, which mandated that everyone with superpowers reveal his or her secret ID and work for the government, split Marvel's supercharacters down the middle. The pro-registration heroes (led by Iron Man) have been battling the "resistance" heroes (led by Captain America) ever since - until last week, when Cap surrendered.Yup, you read that right. After 10 months of combat, multiple miniseries (plus zillions of pages in various tie-ins) and lots of rhetoric about freedom and civil rights, the Sentinel of Liberty called it quits. He ordered his team to stand down, and allowed himself to be taken

The hit of the holiday, my grandmother's famous Creamy Cranberry Salad. The kids love it, I love it, and my brother said, "It's the only way I'll eat cranberries!" Since the recipe is in high demand, I will share it here. Enjoy. (And the family-famous Secret Cranberry Relish will follow - my husband's particular favorite.)Creamy Cranberry Salad(Otherwise known as Cranberry FLUFF)1 can Mandarin oranges, drained1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, drained2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries, coarsely chopped1 medium apple, peeled and chopped2 cups miniature marshmallows2/3 cup sugar1/8 teaspoon salt1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)2 cups (one smallish container) cool whip (not Lite - honestly, what is the point of "lite" at a holiday dinner? Let's get serious about celebration.)In a bowl, combine the oranges, cranberries, pineapple, apple, marshmallows, sugar, salt, and walnuts if desired; mix well. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Just before serving, fold in cream.~~~~~~~~~~~Secret Cra
