Great if you live in the tropics, bad if you don't. Even worse if you have to step from hardwood floors onto cold tile, as we do. The kitchen, dining room and both bathrooms have tile floors that ARE NOT HEATED. I swear, they are several degrees cooler than any other surface in the house. For someone like me who has cold feet most of the time anyway, this is torture. Our house was renovated by the previous owner 2 years ago, and I guess he thought that cold floor surfaces were a good thing. I say, if you're going to the expense of renovating an entire house and putting new tile over one third of it, why not spend a little extra

      New floors today!
Today is the big day when they are finally coming to install the new wood laminate floors in my studio! I spent yesterday moving out all my art supplies and furniture. This morning, my parrots Lulu, Lucy, and Cookie were brought upstairs. They were not happy about the move! Fortunately, nearly everything in there is on wheels. There’s one huge cabinet that is not on wheels, but my dear husband is going to put them on tonight, so it’ll be easy to move it back in. I love having everything in the studio so mobile. If I’m working on a larger painting, or have a model in, or just want a change of scene, I can have a new studio setup in minutes. Now that I’ll have the wood floors instead of carpeting, it will be even easier to rearrange at the slightest whim. Needless to say, my computer in there is disconnected (I’m on hubby’s now), my camera software is inaccessible, and most of my art supplies are packed away in cabinets and drawers up against one anoth

      Garage Floors
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: a man needs a garage. Everyone thinks it's a shed than a man needs, but garages are bigger, they have cards in them and you can do more with them. My garage is the 'mini gym'. Oh yeah, baby. Only trouble is, the floor is a state. It's just concrete, so even when I clean it it remains dusty. Seriously, that's cutting into my abs work - tut. What I need to improve garage floors is the treatment from CarGuyGarage.com that give it an epoxy-like coating (that's a carbon-oxygen bond - yup, I'm a nerd) which is easy to clean. And then I wouldn't... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit www.newsplus.co.nr for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Marin Blue - Two Condos on High Floors For Sale
Someone who has contracts on two great units at Marina Blue contacted me earlier this week. He wants to sell one prior to closing and hold onto the other. The first condo is unit 5108. The 08 line is the best line in the entire building since it is situated in the middle of the building and has the best views. This condo has 10-foot ceilings. All units on the 45th floor or higher have 10-foot ceilings as opposed to the non-loft units below that have 9-foot ceilings. The unit has 1,334 square feet of interior space and a 160 square foot balcony. He is asking $740,000 for this unit. The second condo is unit 4609. It is a very rare floor plan that I didn’t even know existed in the building. There are only six units that have this floor plan in the entire building. The condo has a total of 1,754 square feet of interior space and a 240 square foot balcony. As with the other unit, it has 10-foot ceilings. Both units have amazing water views. Mop Hardwood Floors
I have hardwood floors through my dining room, breakfast nook, entry and kitchen. I used to hate mopping so much that I actually threw my mop away when we moved into this house. (It was a pretty gross mop.) I went seven months without mopping. It wasn't until Tank was born and my husband hired a cleaning company to come in and clean for me (that was his "gift" to me, isn't that the best thing to

      Shiny Floors...
I understand the necessity of keeping the floors clean and shiny, but putting out warning signs to tell everyone that they are slippery? Why do they have to be so slippery? I understand the ascetics of the clean, fresh appearance for the "Clean Room" effect. In our plant, we have over 2000+ people that work here and lots of them go up the stairs to the Fab area. We have three flights of stairs with about 20 steps in them. They have placed signs out saying to hold onto the rails as they might be slippery. That is CRAZY!! Making the stairs that slippery is just a lawsuit in the making. With as many people that go up and down them, one would think that they would want to keep them clean with enough friction so that people can walk them without the chance of falling. Kitchen Materials - Splashbacks - Benchtops - Floors
When it comes to selecting kitchen materials you are presented with a good dozen options to select from. Each have their pros and cons, and certain combinations will look better than others. Consult your kitchen designer for professional advice, but here are pieces of information on what you can expect to find in the list of available kitchen materials. Wood - Can be either solid or veneer. Solid wood is more expensive and natural. Wood veneer is a slice of real wood that is attached to MDF. Natural wood is affected by the weather more than woode veneer. Laminate - High pressure or low pressure. High pressure laminate has high impact resistance. Stone - Solid or reconstituted. Solid stone has very good resistance to high temperature. Reconsituted stone also handles heat better than other materials. It’s generally more difficult to produce neat joins between stones. Other common kitchen materials include tiles, glass, stainless steel. You can find a more detailed list of kitchen m

Scorching Aarti Chabaria burning the ramp floors....
A Union Minister walking the ramp? A few years ago it would be unthinkable, but with almost every other public personality jumping on the model bandwagon, Minister Renuka Chowdhury gearing herself for a walk down the ramp shouldn’t come as a surprise. The feisty politician will be donning this new avatar for a hair and style show by Rudra Spa and joining her will be other unconventional models, including food columnist and author Rashmi Uday Singh, fashion designer Nisha Jamvwal, socialite Esther Daswani and actor Arti Chhabria.“These models have been chosen on the basis of their strong personalities, achievements and character,” says Neena Aggarwal, proprietor of Maharani Jewellery, who will also walk the ramp.http://api.my.yahoo.com/rss/ping?u=[www.sexloverpark.blogspot.com]

Quantum on the Bay - 1 & 3 Bedroom Condos Available on High Floors with Great Views
A contract holder of two condos at Quantum on the Bay contacted me a few weeks ago to let me know that she would like to find a replacement buyer for each unit. The first is 3 bedroom/3 bath with 1,620 square feet of interior space and two large terraces. If you refer to the Quantum on the Bay website, it is the R floor plan in the north tower. The unit is located on the 34th floor and will have unobstructed views of Biscayne Bay. She is asking $627,000, or $387 per square foot, for this 3 bedroom condo. I think this is a fantastic price for a 3 bedroom condo on such a high floor. The second unit she has under contract is a 1 bedroom + den/1.5 bath condo with 935 square feet of interior space and a large terrace. It is the P floor plan. This condo is on the 37th floor and will offer water views off the terrace. She is asking $372,000, or $398, per square foot, for this 1 bedroom condo. Each unit comes with one parking space. An additional parking space will cost $35,000. Cont

      Dirty Floors
I was reading an article online today about relationships or more to the point the ending of relationships. Apparently in relationships going sour the man seems to be the last to know in most cases. The author suggested that perhaps because men usually still get the better end of the deal in relationships overall that they aren’t noticing what their partner is going through. According to this article women will try to express their needs at some point but often men are either unwilling to compromise or don’t seem to realize the seriousness of the issue. Perhaps because they are happy with things just the way they are so why change anything? Then later they are shocked when the woman leaves and left wondering, how did this happen? This makes sense to me and I’ve seen this happen many times. I think it happens on both sides of the fence but it is true that men are happier in most relationships and therefore less likely to understand how serious the problems are when they arise. We h

They are the shattered. They are the broken. They are the victims of society’s indifference to ergonomic vacuum-cleaner design, sufferers of an epidemic of the condition known as “vac back”. These are their stories. “One minute, I was a happy mother of two, vacuuming the floor of my three-bedroom ranch home in Florida City, Idaho,” says Shirley Knott of Florida City, Idaho. “Then I tried to maneuver my vacuum cleaner around the trapdoor hatch in my bathroom, and I felt a slight twinge in my back. It was sore for, like, four days. Maybe five.” “Poorly-designed, hard-to-maneuver vacuum cleaners destroyed my health, my career, my life,” says Lee Burroughs of Interzonia, Delaware. “Of course, my $500-a-day heroin habit had something to do with it, too.” “I thought I suffered from chronic depression,” says Laura Crawford of Shrubville, Texas. “I stayed in bed up to 20 hours a day, I had to force myself to eat to keep from starving, and I could not stop cr

How to Avoid Gapped or Cupped Hardwood Floors
These hardwood floors are getting the airflow necessary to acclimate Why do some hardwood floors cup or gap over time, while other floors stay flat? The Hardwood Installer tells us a story about two identical situations and the benefits of acclimation. Imagine waiting ten years to finally install hardwood floors only to have them shrink or cup. Hardwood floors expand and contract depending on the environment, so installers acclimate the hardwood floors before installing. What’s Acclimation? Acclimating means to get the hardwood floors use to the environment. The climate in which your hardwood floors are delivered may not be the same environment that your floors are going to be in the rest of the year. If your floors are being delivered on a damp day, they’ll absorb the moisture in the air and that could lead to cupped floors later on and gaps. Stack your hardwood floors like the above picture and acclimate for around 72 hours. Do you have any experiences with your hardwo

      Floors
A stylish floor covering will lift your rooms instantly and enhance their impression of comfort. In the same way, ugly, stained or worn floors create an air of decay and grubbiness that won’t go away until they do. The fact that more of your budget is likely to be taken up by floor coverings than any other element is due partly to the fact that after walls, floors cover the largest area in your home. Unlike walls, they have to withstand constant wear and damaging grime, either tracked in from outside or deposited by gravity. Flooring Types Finding an appropriate floor covering for your home involves identifying a combination of style and practicality that works for you. Floor covering trends seem to change more often. The floor coverings are grouped under four basic types: 1. Soft Flooring - carpets, rugs and natural coverings 2. Wood Flooring - bamboo, man-made boards 3. Resilient Flooring - vinyl, linoleum, rubber, cork, and leather 4. Hard Flooring - stone, concrete, me
