The Buran space shuttle was once the apple of the Soviet space fleet's eye. Unfortunately, it has now been reduced to floating peacefully down the river Rhine, where it will eventually come to rest at the Technik Museum Speyer in Mannheim, Germany. The great shuttle took to the skies only once during an unmanned test flight, but two decades later, the modern relic has gone the way of a crushed Buzz Lightyear—it's realized it can't fly, but at least it can put on one hell of an exhibition. I recently and thankfully stumbled upon a wonderful new band, Washington's Fleet Foxes. Their EP, Sun Giant, was chosen by Pitchfork as some of the best new music, and I couldn't agree more so. Their untitled debut full length is due out June 3rd and has been called Ragged Wood around the blogosphere but according to a post on the band's MySpace, it's still untitled. Although the album's release is still three months away, an enterprising user of the internet can manage to find it, and your ears will thank you if you do. This is a little post about one of my favorite stores. We have them in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. I don't know what farm type stores y'all have everywhere else in the world. We also have Tractor Supply Company, but Farm & Fleet is one of the greatest. I've decided that Stephen and I can no longer visit this store without walkie talkies or both with our cell phones on. This store is very large. There is clothing, boots, shoes, farm equipment, agriculture, gardening, car and truck, horse stuff of course, fishing, candy, toys, and many other fun things. Sweeney Todd is a musical, but one which focuses less on the songs, keeping the action going while the actors sing their hearts out. Tim Burton has made a film that is both funny and gory, with blood splatters and tasty meat pies everywhere. Johnny Depp is great as Sweeney, talking with a dark crisp voice, his mind focused on one thing, getting revenge on the evil judge Turpin who sent him away. Depp makes Todd appear perfectly stubborn at times, adding much to the comic note of the film. Almost outshining Depp is Helena Bonham Carter, who at times is hilarious as Mrs. Lovett, who sells the worst pies in London. Together the two of them form a very charming duo. A small part is played by the brilliant Sacha Baron Cohen as the fraud Pirelli. He's outstanding as long as he's present. Sweeney
