We'd heard about and read the Robert Wyatt comparisons everywhere, but man oh man, Stars Like Fleas really does suggest the old English folkie and glorious weirdo. There are the vocals on The Ken Burns Effect -- halting, whispery, and in a quavering falsetto.
I (well, actually our dog) has never really had a problem with fleas before. But something about the sandy soil (can you even call it soil?) encourages the breeding of fleas. Especially if there are loose leaves lying on top of the ground.

Stars Like Fleas is the Broken Social Scene of Brooklyn, a collective running the gamut of cutting edge bands from Beirut to At The Drive-In. The wondrous layers are made possible by minute contributions, a glockenspiel here, a flugelhorn there, but the arrangements are thick and rewarding, even in their weirdest states.

Getting Rid of Fleas - Avoid Poisoning Your DogBy Jay Jacovitz

Fleas are external parasites and not internal parasites like tapeworms or heart worms. Fleas look round or oval in shape with tiny legs. They cling to the bodies of the dogs and suck their blood. If you notice or observe that your dogs are scratching themselves very often, you should brush their hair and see if there are any fleas there. If there is a major flea infestation, it should be very obvious as you are likely to see a few of them falling off their bodies. If this is the case, I strongly suggest that you take your dogs to the vet for immediate treatment. You will also need to clean the physical environment that your dogs roam around including their crates and beds. However, it is likely that you may find a few fleas on your dogs if you have been grooming them well. They are likely to

Anyone who has had a pet has most likely had a battle with fleas. They can real hard to get rid of if a person does not take all the necessary steps. When I first heard ‘I Was Only Dancing’ it moved me to tears. Now I know I am prone to OTT effusiveness on an almost daily basis but this really is a special piece of music. Stars Like Fleas are a Brooklyn based collective that have been around for about a decade but on this form they look set to quietly go about taking on the world with their 3rd album ‘The Ken Burns Effect’. Dog care is one of the most important aspects of owning a dog. When you don’t properly care for your dog they can have health problems and some of these problems may in turn affect you. When you love your dog and wish for a long life you understand the needs of your dog. Having said that, there are some tips which can make dog care a little easier on you. With fleas you are usually only aware of an infestation when you start to feel the bits on your legs. There are preventative methods that will help your home stay clear of the pests and your dogs safe.First let’s look at some of the ways your dog can pick up fleas. First and foremost moisture around puddles, unsanitary areas, and the woods can have fleas. It is important to keep your dog out of these regions. Don’t let your dog play in puddles that have formed around the sides of the street where there is typically a lot of trash. You also want to keep your dog out of the woods during the summer season. Humidity is one of the la

Wow. Can you believe this?
A LEADING Muslim in Britain has warned authorities against helping to create a climate of fear and suspicion similar to that in Nazi Germany during the 1930s.
The Government's policy of emphasising the threat from al-Qaeda is alienating many Muslims and undermining social cohesion, Muhammad Abdul Bari, head of the Muslim Council of Britain, said.
“The air is thick with suspicion and unease. It is not good for the Muslim community, it is not good for society.”
You know what they say.... when you sleep with the dogs, you wake up with the fleas. (more...)
I’ve been listening to the Dog On Fleas CD in my living room for a couple of weeks and I must say that it’s been a fabulous addition to our collection. My music loving toddler runs to the stereo many mornings, grabs “When I Get Little” and shouts “Dance! Dance!”
It’s a great combination of styles and is completely original. The tunes are very intelligently written - a quality not always found on CD’s geared toward children. I knew it was good when I found myself walking the halls at work singing “When I get little, I’m gonna be a boy…” and wasn’t annoyed that it was stuck in my head. A very enjoyable CD!
Listen and/or buy it here.
One of the talented Dog On Fleas artists, Dean Jones, has recently released his first solo album called Napper’s Delight that we’ve also been enjoying - though not at nap time. This is anything but a traditional lullaby collection. Dean combines a variety of

Mum was so upset when she combed me afterwards and found fleas on my skin!!If you can smell vinegar, that's me
Belgian-based Ecover, the world's biggest supplier of environmentally friendly cleaning products, has lost its right to use the Vegan Society trademark in Britain because of "animal tests" - on microscopic water fleas:
But the Vegan Society is to refuse permission for its trademark to be used when the endorsement comes up for renewal later this month.
The move follows a tip-off that Ecover uses the water fleas - between 0.2mm and 5mm long - to test the effects of detergents on aquatic life.
According to Ecover, the microscopic crustacean - scientific name Daphnia - found in rivers, streams, lakes and ponds, isn't actually an animal.
Certainly it's not covered by EU animal-testing rules which are limited to vertebrates past a specified embryonic stage.
But the Vegan Society members consider water fleas - named for their jumping style of swimming - as "part of the animal kingdom".
Here's a question: Why are you vegans discriminating against plants the way you do? Plants are living
Ok, so today I cleaned younger Princess' room. Every time she'd go in there, she'd get flea bites. Makes total sense, the cat loves her room for some reason. We try to keep the door shut, but sometimes it just happens. Princess had left her bottom drawer of her dresser open, so what did I find in there this morning? Yep, Sweet Pea, staring up innocently at me. I feel sorry for the cat, but since she's gotten the flea medicine, she should feel better soon.
UGH! Our cat, Sweet Pea, has fleas! Now we all have fleas. Of course, I've been telling a certain someone (I don't deal with the cat if I can help it. This was known up front before the cat came into the home) that she needs the flea stuff; she's been scratching an awful lot. I keep getting told that she's got dry skin. Guess who found fleas???? UGH!
Our cat, Sweet Pea is driving me nuts! She is constantly biting and scratching and since we got her a little collar with a bell attached, it's driving me insane listening to that little bell. We've been thinking about getting one of those flea dips. A couple years ago she had fleas really bad and I don't want to go through that again! I'm learning a lot about flea control from Fleascontol.com. Did you know that there are certain plants that you can plant in your garden to repel fleas? Wonderful smelling plants like lavender, eucalyptus and mint! I think I will have to get some and plant around my yard! It not only will smell good, but hopefully keep those pesky fleas away!
With spring arriving I thought this would be a good time to discuss fleas, prevention and treatment if you do get them on your greyhound.
As you may know, greyhounds are very sensitive to certain chemicals and drugs. One flea prevention to avoid is the standard flea ccollar. The standard flea collar is not safe or effective and should NEVER be used on a greyhound, or any other dog for that matter. The collars contain harmful chemicals that penetrate through the skin of the dogs neck and eventually paralyzes and kills the flea that bites the skin. Some of the chemicals in these collars can cause nausea, convulsions, and even death.
Here is a list of some products that are safe to use on the greyhound:
1. Program. This is a once-a-month flea reproduction inhibitor. It does not kill the flea but the flea eggs that have fed on a treated dog will not hatch.
2. Advantage. This is a topical insecticide that kills fleas on contact before they can lay eggs so it breaks the fl
Article Title: Your Dogs Health And To Get Rid Of FleasAuthor: Colin PhilipsAll dog owners are familiar with the problems caused by peskyfleas. Fleas are very small wingless insects, brownish red incolor, and have sharp mouths by which they obtain blood fromtheir canine hosts. Flea bites usually cause your dog toscratch at affected areas and some dogs are more sensitive thanothers and can have allergic reactions to flea bites. In general, fleas do not transmit diseases from dogs to humans, but the potential for this exists and they can and do bitehumans as well as dogs and cats. Fleas and flea larvae live in warm climates and will live untilthe ground freezes in cooler climates. They can live on in yourhome well past this time also. If you suspect that your dog has fleas, you should take him toyour veterinarian. Your veterinary staff member will first usea flea comb on your dog. Flea combs are wide tooth combs and "flea dirt" or dried bloodflea excrement is what they a

We recomended this product if you still got problem with Flea, Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus from onlynaturalpet dot com
Fleabusters Features :
* The Rx for Fleas Plus powder is milled to be extremely fine and is also statically charged.
* The ‘fine’ powder allows for easy installation while brushing into the carpet and for light application (very small amounts need to be applied for effectiveness).
* The ’statically charged’ powder provides a clinging effect to carpet fibers. This allows very little to be removed by vacuuming, thereby providing long-lasting protection. It attaches to the flea larvae as they wiggle by. The effectiveness of killing (dehydrating) flea larvae is greatly increased.
* The Rx for Fleas Plus also has a neutral pH of 7.0. While being very safe for carpets, the neutral pH is actually more important in a pest control sense by not causing the targeted pest (flea) to be repelled from the powder. Roaches, ants, fleas, etc., can sense an
Dog Care - Fighting FleasFighting Fleas can be very frustrating. They multiply veryquickly and if not caught early enough they will infestyour dog and your home. Once infested it is not easy toget rid of them. If your dog is constantly stratchinghimself that is a sure sign that he does have fleas. Checkhis skin that is were you will be able to find them. Thereare different remodies you can try to kill or keep thefleas at bay. Bombing your house is one of them but youhave to cover the furniture, leave the house for a fewhours, who wants to do that? Luckily there are a few waysto stop the fleas before they get to the infestation point. There are many different types of medications that can beapplied to your dog, chewable tablets, the old fashion pillform, prescriptions that you may get from yourveterinarian and in powder form. Your cat has fleas? Well, mine does!Scratching & Biting at the fur is a good indicator your cat has fleas. Upon close inspection of the fur & skin, you can see the fleas on your cat ( yes! the darn brown-colored insect). Its easier to see on light colored cats. How to get rid of them?I usually use SPOT treatment (Frontline brand) on my cats. This usually cost me about RM50 (about USD 12) for 3 vials. Its avalaible at most pet stores/vets. Its quite effective compared to flea powders or flea collars. But it is important to follow instructions when applying the chemical onto your cats, because cats are very sensitive towards chemicals (and so do we!)Its recommended that you apply the treatment to the area between shoulder blades; this is to prevent your cat from ingesting it before it has time to spread through the coat.Besides that, I always enjoy to handpick the fleas, too! Haha..Oh well, my cats do have fleas apparently; I will need to stock up on Frontline later. I guess I will be
One winter year, these two little fleas headed for the warm sunny beaches of California to escape the cold. The first flea got there and started rubbing suntan lotion on his little flea arms and his little flee legs. Just then, the second flea arrived just a shiverin' and a shakin'. The first flea asked, "What the hell happened to you?". To which the second flea replied "I just rode out here on a bikers mustache and I'm so very coldddd!". The first flea said, "Don't you know the special trick to gettin here, first you go to the airport, go straight to the ladies cammode, wait for a pretty young stewardess to come along, and when she sits down you climb right up in there where its nice and warm". The second flea agreed that this was a grand idea. The next winter comes along and it was time for the fleas to head for the sunny beaches again. The first flea arrived and began putting suntan lotion on his little flea arms and his little flea legs. About that time, the second flea arrived
