Yes, they do have real pink flamingos at the Flamingo Hotel. The gardens are at the back of the hotel by the swimming pools. They also have a couple patio areas where you can sit outside with a nice beverage to relax and enjoy the gardens. It is much more peaceful and quiet there. Nice place to take a break from the busy casino or strip. Nice to walk around in the shade from the palm trees on the hot summer days. There are other types of birds to watch,and the koi fish swimming in the water. Doing the afternoon they also have a parrot show, which you can get your photo taken with. Here is another animal that mom saw at the Ft. Worth Zoo. Flamingos! There were a few different types at the zoo, and this orange/pink one is an American flamingo. This kind is the tallest flamingo found in the Americas.The Chilean flamingo is another kind of flamingo which can be identified by it's lighter coloring. I heard they come from Chile and other South American countries. I like flamingos! They are birdies, which I love, and they are also very beautiful. I think I would like to snuggle in their feathers!

I viewed the above picture a few days ago. I found it simply amazing to see what Miami Beach and Flamingo South Beach looked like in the 1960s. There were so many parcels of land still untouched back then. What a world of change 40+ years can bring to a city.
Flamingo South Beach became the largest condo-conversion in the state of Florida in early 2006. It is composed of three towers with 1,688 total units and is in the process of undergoing a multi-million dollar restoration. Currently, the south tower has been fully sold and Chicago-based MCZ Development is now working to sell out the north tower. The center tower, which rises above the two others and has more modern finishes and better views, will likely be available for sale in late 2008 if MCZ Development exercises their rights to it.

Some people have the strangest hobbies... Four flamingos were brutally attacked and killed by what must have been an intruder at the Frankfurt zoo in Germany:
Three of the birds' heads had been torn from their bodies and a fourth bird had been strangled, zoo officials said.
The attack took place inside the flamingo enclosure after the zoo had closed.

Jack Hanna of Animal Adventures and ZooLife with Jack Hanna is a well known and renown expert in all things related to the animal kingdom. However, he appears to lack some basic geometric skills in successfully navigating airport security with a live flamingo. It's amazing how you can't bring a bottle of water along for the flight, but you can bring along a four foot gregarious wading bird.
Hanna was passing through the security turnstile at the Ohio State University Airport with three other people in his entourage. The group was transporting a mongoose, a leopard, and the now popular flamingo when the flamingo's square compartment become lodged in the round 10-foot tall turnstile along with Hanna. This incident also blocked anyone on the tarmac from entering the terminal.
I was stuck like a worm. My eyes were as big as grapefruits, Hanna said. I can't describe the feeling in my stomach. I can't move up or down. The bars are on your face.

Stories in the news this morning state that the existence of the Lesser Flamingo is to come under threat from Industry on the shores of Lake Natron in Tanzania; upto 75% of Lesser Flamingo come to breed on the shores of Lake Natron and the birds will come under threat from a soda ash plant that industrialists plan to build there.
The RSPB have called the plans “Bonkers” and i have to agree with them, and the Tanzanian government must be “Bonkers” also to agree to go-ahead for the salt plant to be built. Now i don’t know much about Tanzania but i do know that the coming together of the Lesser Flamingo during the summer to breed on Lake Natron is an amazing spectacle, and if the Tanzanian government want to preserve this spectacle and their most famous wildlife then they need to put the breaks firmly on industrialists that could potentially harm the existence of the Flamingo.

Most of the year I have a very unassuming, little green houseplant gracing one of my windowsills. It's grown slowly over the past five years since it's been within my house ... I bought it as a discounted little wretch of a houseplant from my local garden centre ...
You know the sort of thing ... generally speaking you have to be very careful buying from the "discount' corner in a garden centre as you can end up with a plant that's on its last legs with no chance of recovery ... or even worse, carrying some dreaded disease which it will pass on to the rest of your plants.
Even then it was just a few little green leaves, unlabelled and without a hint of a flower. With no care instructions I pretty much left it to its own devices ... keeping it watered (but only to a minimum)
