My first night at my new home was fine. I rested the whole night because I need full energy for cleaning and unpacking my things. Unfortunately, I am now encountering some skin allergies because of the cleanser I used in cleaning the bathroom. Veteran producer and master of electronic kraut-funk, Burnt Friedman returns for another solo album after his acclaimed collaboration with David Sylvian, Stina Nordentsam and Arve Henriksson on the Nine Horses project. ‘Night Forever’ finds Friedman recruiting a number of vocal contributors, including Australian singer Steve Spacek, Funkstorung collaborator Enik, Berliner Barbara Panther and Daniel Dodd-Ellis. The productions themselves are the real stars here though, Friedman’s multi-layered studio excursions sewing together detailed drum edits, misty horn sections and even the odd burst of strings when needed. Before filing into the Florida West Coast Symphony's "First Night Out" concert Saturday, try sipping a martini by the sunset. This may be the perfect prelude to an evening of moonlight and music, says Maestro Leif Bjaland. The first performance of the season for the full orchestra will feature Vivaldi's "Autumn" from "The Four Seasons" (with guest violinist James Ehnes), Verdi's "Triumphal March" from "Aida," Respighi's "The Pines of Rome" and Rossini's "Overture to William Tell."
Last night was my first night in the new house. I’m used to my one bedroom apartment with 1 door and just a couple of windows. Going to bed I realized their were a lot of windows and a lot of doors to check to make sure they were locked. It sort of creeped me out thinking that the entire other side of the house was open for anyone to peek in as well as each bedroom (we haven’t got window treatments yet). A few noises in the night woke me up, but other than that I did sleep well and it was super quiet all night. I’m looking forward to getting the rest of the furniture into the house and getting settled. Hopefully by Friday night my apartment will be cleared out completely and cleaned out by Sunday night.
Just when you thought the worst was over…
Our first night at home began OK. Mrs C went to bed at about 9 and took Peter with her. She placed her in our Moses basket at the side of our bed. At 10 he started crying.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take him down stairs with me while I watch the tele. You get some more sleep.” I kindly offered.
So, there I was watching the new Matthew Perry show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (could that show be any better?) with Peter fast asleep on my shoulder.
Lovely.
At 11 I went back upstairs, Peter still sleeping. I put him gently into the Moses basket and:
“Wahhhhhhh!”
He started crying. We tried to sooth him with “sshhh”s but to no avail. So I picked him up and put him on my shoulder and off to sleep he went again.
Hhmm, no I have a conundrum. If I have him on my shoulder he’ll sleep but I wont or I put him in his Moses basket and maybe we both sleep. Yes, option 2 please.

Vietnam’s first night beach is set to be inaugurated Friday in the central city of Danang along with the opening ceremony of the Danang-Beach Appeal 2007 festival. Head of the city tourism agency, Ngo Quang Vinh, said Pham Van Dong beach would be open to tourists with rescue teams and modern lights in place. Police and tourism staff would ensure security, he added. Danang authorities unveiled plans for the night beach last December, aiming to attract more tourists. To mark the beach festival, a tour by Jeep of the Son Tra peninsula mountain will be offered to the public. Visitors will be taken up the 600-meter mountain from where they can enjoy breathtaking views of Danang city and its beach, which has been rated by the US’s Forbes magazine as one of the world’s most beautiful.
