In a few week's time, my husband and I will celebrate Thanksgiving, as we have done together for the past 7 years. And every year we do something for the 4th of July. MIFC (Malaysia International Fireworks Competition) ended on 2 September 2007 and we went for photo shooting on the 1st night 18 Aug. Some reader might asked, this event is outdated and it has passed more than 1 month, however I would like to share some tips and technique that I used and learned that you can use for next fireworks event like New Year.
Here are 8 tips and techniques that I have used and learned:
1. Reach the location earlier in order to get a good location with an unobstructed view.
2. Tripod is a must. No question ask even you have VR, IS, it doesn’t helps.
3. Set your camera’s ISO setting to lowest to prevent digital noise.
4. Turn the camera’s built-in flash OFF.
5. Use the Landscape Mode for Point and Shoot Camera or Infinity focus setting for DSLR.
6. Shoot at 5 to 10 second shutter speeds at around F8 to F16.

Parade (with fireworks!) is a free online comic, that was recently published by Image Comics. This is a great piece of free comic book work. Mike Cavallaro does an amazing job with his tale, however, for some strange reason I get the eerie feeling that he went to the Seth school of cartooning. Don’t get me wrong, this is an amazing body of work, I feel it’s more an homage to Drawn and Quarterly style of books. Seth’s books are slow paced, Cavallaro’s is fast in action, you could say fireworks, yet it has something missing for me. You could have have the greatest artist on any strip, and have no story at the same time. That used to work many years ago when comics were priced cheaper. Free is free. You be the judge. Saturday night I saw a wonderful thing. The Fall of Troy, Daughters and Secondsmile had been together for the past three days, performing, drinking and partying, reaching that point of the tour where they've now bonded sufficiently enough for their talents to unite and vent themselves in the one thing which brought them all together in the first place: music. The upstairs backstage area of the new Zodiac (much the same as the upstairs of the old Zodiac, for anyone who's interested) was the location as, aided by the Mac's Garageband program, the three bands sat down, many cans of beer in hands, and put their creativity to good use. American's saying "I whacked my balls on the stove" in cliched English accents, Snoop Dogg impressions, hand claps and ambient electronica music fused together, the track is to be completed this week and I hope to post it online as a world exclusive in the not too distant future. The Malaysia International Fireworks Competition 2007 was held at Putrajaya from 18 August till 2 September 2007. Azman and I went to see Italy, Japan and Canada’s performances.
The
first time we were there for Italy’s we managed to get really close to Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC). So close that we can hear the background music playing. After all it was a musical fireworks competition and every bang! was musically choreographed.
I was trying to capture the 20 minutes long show with our dvd recorder, but there was this little kid, I think about three or four years old that screamed “Woooooo!!” on top of his lungs at every exploding firework. He was standing really near to us so despite being close to PICC, the background sound for my recording was not Italian music but a kid yelling “ Woooo! Woooo! Woooo!” for TWENTY WHOLE GODDAMN MINUTES!

I enjoy baseball. You might say I’m a bit of an enthusiast. As such, I enjoy going to Columbus Clipper baseball games. If you’re considering a move to Columbus, I think it’s important to know that we do have professional sporting events to attend. I’ve been going to Clippers games for years.
Going to a game is a fun time. Period. You can’t have a bad time at a Clippers Game. Last Monday was Dime-A-Dog night at Cooper Stadium. Our family and 12,500 other folks turned out to watch the game. It was the perfect storm for the Clippers — the beginning of a holiday week, a gorgeous summer day, fireworks after the show, and 10 cent hot dogs. Free T-shirts too, if you purchased at least reserve seats.
While I can’t say that I’ve seen the place that crowded in a long, long, time, it was nice to see so many people turn out to enjoy the baseball scene in Columbus.
