There is a lot of humor here, 24 hours after Louis Gray posts the “Smaller Blogs do not deserve any ad revenue” you would have thought that there would be a firestorm, link bait is link bait, and starting something off with a title like that even we got into the act. With some humorous [...]
I have been thinking a lot about the California firestorms (who isn't?). For me, it's a disaster beyond imagination. Looking at the photos on the news, it reminds me of hell - hot, burning, miserable. Photo is from this flicker site.I was very tired last night, but I wasn't going to complain. As I sat on our couch feeling exhausted, I can''t help but think of the many firefighters in California who are extremely exhausted at this time.My brother R and his family live in the LA area. Thankfully, they are safe. After I talked to him on the phone, I thank God that they are safe. Then a thought crossed my mind. How about those who's house were reduced to ashes? I wonder how many "good" people are affected by these? The answer is thousands ... thousands of them. So, "when bad thing happen to good people", how do we react? I Googled that phrase and found some articles written on it. The most famous one is that written by Harold Kushner with the same title "When Bad Things Happen to
POSTED AT AROUND 6AMWhen there's nothing I can do but prayThen I will prayI will pray for a miracleI pray for rainI pray that the wind will stopI pray that no one will get hurtI pray for containment of fireI pray in Jesus' name, Amen.UPDATE AROUND 6PM:Winds Ease In Battle Against Wildfire - this is one of the headline on Yahoo News. I'd take that as an answer to my prayer ... to a lot of prayers going around. I will continue to pray. I pray for comfort to those who are grieving for this tremendous loss. I pray for the exhausted firefighters, for renewed strength and safety. I continue to pray for the containment of this fire, that it will be over soon.
In the now cancelled series featuring the "new" Firestorm, the writer, Stuart Moore, injected an anti-war advertisement in the 30th issue. From Comic Glutton, here's an excerpt of the speech:
When my father was young, they had a saying: "Never trust anyone over thirty." It sounds silly - but it was a very serious response to the times. Back then, a group of older men had a stranglehold on the federal government...
Today, a new group of men controls all the branches of the federal government. Men of power ... They lie to us about weapons of mass destruction. They ruin crucial government agencies with shameless cronyism, then watch as our cities flood and die. They preach morality while they steal our jobs and bankrupt our future, little by little - all the while grabbing more and more money for themselves.Sigh. Again, another anti-war clown who won't look at any of the revelations that were made. It's been at least four years now, and still, we have writers who live in astounding
Whilst Koncept "N' Funktion is up to the minute, Firestorm is a little more retro in its outlook.

Clash of CivilizationsInstantly, instinctively, and unrelentingly, the American establishment has framed the attacks of September 11, 2001, in the language of a clash of civilizations. The Islamic terrorists attacked America because they hate our highest values, our freedoms, our way of life, our civilization.President Bush wasted no time in defining the language of this discourse in his first speech on September 11, 2001. “Today,” he opened his speech, “our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts.” This thesis was hammered home again. “America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world.”The President informs us, “why do they hate us?” His answer is clearly stated. “They hate what we see right here in this chamber – a democratically elected government. Their leaders are self-appointed. They hate our freedoms – our freedom of re
