It also means that I won't get my bead art back until far into the future - at l

The old white fire truck might not stand out next to the polished red engines parked at Oceanside Station 7, but it has a heroic past. The 1952 Mack has been through some of the largest recorded fires in Oceanside and became legendary for its work on the Laguna fire in 1970, one of the worst fires in the history of California.
And because of a quirk of fate, it was for many years the only white fire truck in Oceanside, earning it the nickname “White Whale.”
Following nearly 30 years of service, the truck ran its last alarm in 1980 and was auctioned off to the ex-wife of a firefighter.
Since then, it has spent many years sitting in a barn in Oregon.
The story might have ended there, but a year ago, members of the Oceanside Firefighters Association bought the truck for $5,000 and are working on restoring it to its former glory.
When they started work on the truck, they uncovered a nest full of chicken eggs, but the engine was still in good shape.

If you're anywhere around Perry, Georgia this weekend - you'll want to stop by Hamby Chevrolet. They are hosting the annual car show and fire truck pull to benefit the Special Olympics. They already have over 50 cars pre-registered for competition including two Corvette Clubs. One is from Macon, GA and the other is from Atlanta, so you can be sure to see some great rides on Saturday morning. They say that there could be as many as 100 cars on display.
The day is sponsored by the Perry, GA Police Officers and all proceeds go to the Special Olympics. The first 75 participants in the car show to arrive get a goodie bag and a dash plaque. Door prizes will also be awarded throughout the day. The fire truck pull (which I would LOVE to see) begins at 11am and includes local high school students, and fire fighters from four local departments. It sounds like a great cause and the chance to hang out with 2 great Corvette Clubs makes it even better![ Macon Telegraph
