      Proud To Be A Filipino
This music video of the Black Eyed Peas starring Allan Pineda, who is a Filipino highlights his roots as a true Filipino who then struggled with his life to escape poverty in the Philippines and went to USA to study and work until he met and his fellow group mates, now called the Black Eyed Peas. Im sure about that after he defeated my fellow countryman, Roberto Gomez. He defeated Roberto Gomez, a filipino (the games were held in the Philippines) at the araneta coliseum just a few hours ago. Man, i have to tell you guys, the game was nail-biting! It was full of excitement and drama. If you have the time to view it on youtube (no vids available yet), i recommend you see it. Its one of the most hardly contested battles i have ever seen in 9ball pool.To Daryl, Thanks for the best game! and for roberto; man, you tried your best, you dont have to prove anything anymore, just practice more and more.

Filipino on Time magazine’s list of Green heroes

It’s no surprise then that Hernandez has been named by Time magazine as among this year’s “Heroes of the Environment,” along with Al Gore, Mikhail Gorbachev and Prince Charles and other personalities. The Greenpeace campaign director was cited for his relentless campaign against trading in waste and highly polluting waste incinerators that led the Philippines to ban waste incineration in 1999, the first country to do so. “He deserves all the honor. He represents the authentic environmental activist. He walks his talk. He knows his direction. He knows the problems of the planet,” environmentalist Odette Alcantara said in an interview. Winning an Olympic gold has been elusive for the Philippines. This is an opportunity to unify all Filipinos towards a single golden Olympic cause.Should I get chosen, I will take it as an opportunity to promote China to the Philippines and vice versa. Well, because each time we order to have a cable put in somebody would drill a hole in our wall. So, I have been thinking about going online and look for Filipino movie deals, that maybe I can watch them online or tune in to any live station. But then, I found nothing until I came across a website that offers movies for unlimited rent. So, I went with that idea and rented movies through it. However, it seems to be a rip-off since the dvd doesn't come on time-it takes a whole week for it to arrive. So, I imagine it would also take a week for it to return. If it does work slow like that, I would definitely be looking for a better alternative. I don't like it, I spend almost $10.00USD a month to get 2 dvd movies, no way...LOL. I can't see myself putting up with costly such deal. So, I would much rather go to a store nearby here and rent movies if I wind up spe

With more than 3 countries ruling the Philippine islands for over 377 years their music is a blend of Spanish, American and European. The Republic of Philippines is made up of 7,107 islands located in South East Asia and has Manila as its capital. The Philippines descended from the Austronesian culture. But have been influenced by the 3 centuries of Spanish colonial rule and then by the Americans. Most of them are Roman Catholics and Philippine and English are two main languages. The different islands have different music rhythms and use instruments made of brass, wood and bronze. In the southern islands a sophisticated music called kulintang exists where boss gongs are used to create the music. In the northern islands music is played using gongs that are called gangsa and a bit different from the gongs used in the south. Here dance is the main hero and music is played to accompany it, so percussion is mainly what the gongs are here for. Lightly played drums accompany the gongs. Among t

If there is one thing I am most proud about my people is their resiliency. Standing side by side to China or Japan, I admit that we’ve got a long way to go as far as economy and stable employment opportunities are concerned. But despite this national debacle and the insufficient opportunities to make a fine living, some of my fellow Filipinos have managed to survive. They continue to find ways to earn and provide for their needs. Some of them take on menial, yet decent jobs. Rain or shine, day and night, these guys work with a smile on their lips and determination in their hearts. That is a true testament of their resiliency, smarts, and hardwork.Ladies and gentlemen, these are the people in my neighborhood and soon... yours! The “takatak” boysThey are young and not-so-young men that sell bubble gums, menthol candies but basically cigarettes on the street. 'Kumusta' and more: Common Filipino expressions
The Philippines always prides itself for being proficient in the English language as compared to our Asian counterparts. Rich and poor, young and old knows how to speak and understand English like a second language. This is why, it's no longer probably required for you to be fluent in Tagalog because we can always communicate with you in English. But like I always say, it pays to know a little bit about our common vernacular. In my hometown, I always chance upon American missionaries on the same jeepney ride. And guess what? They know how to talk the talk. They're very fluent in Tagalog and every time I hear them speak I couldn't help but be impressed. So then I thought, maybe I could teach you some of the most basic Pinoy expressions for free!!! This is my gift for your continued support to my website.Have fun!Legend: ["fragment"] - optional Notes:Notice that the Tagalog expressions used to converse with a single person and to a group on a respectful tone is almost always the same.

      More Filipino Boxing Updates
Manny Pacquiao Training CampAfter reaching the halfway point of his training for his rematch against the great Marco Antonio Barrera, Pinoy boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao is on schedule with his preparations. Despite the minor distractions from his Philippine boxing fans and a bout of flu, Pacquiao's weight is now at 136 pounds. This means that he will be able to make the 130 lb. limit for the rematch with Barrera. Manny Pacquiao's current weight also places him way below the maximum 143 pounds or 64.864 kilos set by the WBC for a fighter to weigh 30 days before a fight under the super featherweight division. According to WBC Rule 4.6, fighters should undergo compulsory "safety weigh-ins" 30 days and seven days prior to their fights. This rule was instituted in 1997 and was ratified during the 2nd WBC World Boxing Medical Congress last April 30 in Quintana Roo, Mexico.
