In which Nixonian Ben Stein, while making his documentary “Expelled,” gets the better of the world’s leading atheist:
Amazingly, Stein got to [Richard] Dawkins and edited the face-to-face interview to make the Oxford don look dumb, including when he admits that nobody knows how life started on Earth. Luckily, big-brained Ben does. Was it Dawkins’s belief [...]

If you have ever wanted your very own amusement Ferris Wheel now is your chance. The solar powered wheel on the Santa Monica pier is up for sale. For just $50,000 starting bid you can own the world’s first solar-powered Ferris wheel. According to park officials the wheel needs to be replaced after 12 years of exposure to the Pacific Ocean. Original cost for the Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel was 800,000 dollars, so fifty grand is quite a savings. Half the proceeds from the final auction will go to the Special Olympics of southern California.
Didn't see them in the tournament this year, but here are the Ferris State episodes from CCHA All Access. Looks like a lot of fun.

In Singapore the biggest Ferris Wheel in the world was opened for the first time this Monday, when special guests took it for a spin. The observation wheel is Singapore's newest tourist attraction. Named the Singapore Flyer, the giant wheel measures 165 meters in height. An impressive 30 meters taller then the London Eye, its main rival. The Singapore flyer thus officially knocked the London Eye of the first spot as tallest Ferris wheel in the world. A total of 28 passenger gondolas are attached to the wheel, each the size of a regular city bus. Each gondola provides enough space for 28 people to walk freely. After reaching the highest point, tourist can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city-state. It is said, that, during clear weather, the distant shores of Indonesia and Malaysia c
On Friday, I received a tip from a new source stating that McG (born Joseph McGinty Nichol) will direct the fourth “Terminator” film, which is currently titled “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins”.We’ve since seen this confirmed with other news outlets and I’m now comfortably conveying it as true.“Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines”Photo credit: ILMSee below for my source’s full note. While the word is now out on McD and his association with the project, the Michael Ferris (one of the film’s screenwriters) mention is new and is particular interesting.I just wanted to send you a scoop for your movie news publication and add an extra tidbit I don’t think anyone else is reporting.McG officially signed on to direct “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” on [Thursday] night. Warner Bros. recently gave the film a green light and is looking to get filming in “early 2008” for a summer 2009 release. The script by John Brancato and Michael Ferris (“Termina
My hotel, which is nothing spectacular, has a spectacular view of the Chicago River. And many of the bridges over the river are quite picturesque. More significantly, even though I brought a winter coat to Chicago, it turned out to be an unnecessary measure. It was in the 60's today, which was perfectly lovely. As a result, I was wishing that I didn't have to work. It would have been great to just roam around downtown and go to museums. Heck, I wish it was still baseball season -- I'd have gladly spent the day cheering on the Cubs. It would have been like my very own version of Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
The fair is such a joyous place: cotton candy, the Ferris Wheel, the Tunnel of Love and--divorces?Austrians love their divorces more than they love 'love', it appears. More on the latest blow to Cupid, the Divorce Fair, from New York Post:Vienna is a city where "I do" often turns into "I want out," a fair for those wanting to untie the knot seemed a sure hit.But journalists easily outnumbered those looking for advice on how to end their marriages on Saturday, the first day of what was billed as the world's first divorce fair.Detectives were ready to catch a spouse in the act, mediators to help ease the pain of separation, a laboratory to conduct paternity tests, and, of course, lawyers to do everything else.So where were all those in struggling marriages? The Austrian capital would seem a good venue for the event, with its 66-percent divorce rate, near the top for European cities. The country itself has a rate of more than 50 percent. In the United States, the rate is thought to be b
Actor Matthew Broderick has said he is obsessed with ping pong.
He's so small it's probably like real sized tennis for him.
He says he spends an hour or two every day playing.
That's great, but what worries me, is the Thai woman he's got serving.

Wonderfulness"Mom, can you digest things into your brain?" My seven year old quizzically asks.Mom laughs and answers, "No.""Yes, I know you can. I digest ice cream through my brain," chimes in my five year old, "that's why I get brain freeze."Speaking of brain freeze, my five year old is more prone to it than his brothers and bangs the top of his head with his hand when it happens to "push it down" as he says. While eating ice cream as a family a couple of weeks ago, the baby started whining and touching his head. His empathetic brother came over to him and started bomping him on the head. Not figuring it out right away I stopped him and asked him what he thought he was doing and would he please stop, to which he replied, "The baby had brain freeze. I was just pushing it down for him."Oh, thank you dear one!*****Money MattersToday the children were completing their chores and discussing the new idea of allowance. Beijing, Jan 14. (PTI): Shanghai has abandoned its plan to build a 200-meter-tall Ferris wheel, which would have been the world's tallest upon completion, and instead decided to erect another skyscraper. Officials and experts in the booming Chinese city cancelled the plan after discussions and decided to build a 100-meter tall skyscraper on the land earmarked for the wheel, officials said. The project envisaged a Ferris wheel with a diameter of 170 meters, supported by two 200-meter-long pylons, and with a commercial plaza at its base. The wheel would have contained 36 cabins capable of accommodating 1,100 tourists. The cost of the wheel was estimated at between $77 million and $103 million. Shanghai, China's commercial hub, already has many skyscrapers dotting the skyline. Currently, the world's highest Ferris wheel is the London Eye in Britain. Completed in 1999, it is 135 meter tall. The record, however, will be challenged by a 160-meter- tall Ferris wheel in Nanchang, cap
