Here’s an interesting comparison of our favorite foods at our favorite fast food restaurants.
Which do you think looks the closest to the “model” food?
I thought Subway was a close one.
The KFC stuff looks the grossest…If I can use that word for KFC’s “Grossest” looking food.
The real Taco Bell looks yucky compared to the “model” food. [...]
It has been a while since we have been graced with a full-bore trash opus from Lloyd Kaufman, and Poultrygeist proves beyond all doubt that the wait was well worth it. I did an interesting little experiment yesterday on Almost Fit. Well, in truth it was more of a "fix up" after I rethought my original post on quitting fast food. The first version was just too long, and after seeing it delivered to my inbox (yes, I admit it - I am on my own blog's mailing list), I realized nobody in their right mind would read the whole thing.
So, after thinking it over, I decid

Um. Where to begin? I guess I liked the film...I'm just not sure what the message in the movie was. There seemed to be no apparent climax. It was if they were loosely tossing out some facts of the fast food industry, flooding the cast with B-list celebrities, so we'd be more interested in talking about why Bruce Willis was in the movie, instead of recognizing the plot is a big ol' mess.Walking away from the film, here's some bullet point lessons I learned:1. When sneaking across the border, don't brag to your friends about your new shoes because you will end up dying in the desert. 2. That little girl Ashley Johnson, who played Mel Gibson's daughter in 'What Women Want' and was on the fast track to growing up as a new Joan Cusack, actually went the opposite and became quite the hottie. 3.

It’s always easy to gain weight and damned hard to lose it. Eating is one of the true pleasures in life and refraining from food has huge physical and psychological implications that cannot be easily discarded. Nobody likes to have to give up a pleasure, which is why many people drift farther and farther into fat without doing anything to stop the process. Moreover, recent data showed that the body does not respond to diets as doctors thought it should. The body has to adapt to changes and diets are seen as lean periods that should be offset by making fat harder to burn. While the body is certainly the most complex instrument we posses in our lives, it cannot discern between actual lean times and diets. Another problem for the body is the widespread use of fast food, snacks and soft drink

Before I tell you what I think the number 1 reason for eating fast food while trying to lose weight, I will tell what it isn’t.
It’s not the taste – Burgers, fries, pizza etc… may taste good but you can make healthier versions of your favourite junk foods at home. Most of these taste just as good as or better than the full fat dishes.
It’s not the cost - $5 for a combo is cheap, but you can make a healthy meal for 4 people for under $10 including drinks.
It’s not the health benefits – Fast food has some of the highest levels of fat, salt and sugar around. A single Big Mac sandwich as 29g of fat, 1020 mg of sodium and 9g of sugar. There are of course better options at most major chains, salads, chilli etc… But for the most part you’re not ordering that stuff.
Not to mention the negative after effects from eating most of that stuff. I’m not going to go into details but I think you know what I’m getting at.
The #1 reason
Lack of preparation –

Fast food is bad food. That's pretty much common knowledge these days. The majority of the foods served at fast food restaurants contain an insane amount of calories, tons of fat (including the very evil trans fat), and are high in pretty much everything else that you'd want your food to be low in. Long story short, it's the kind of food you want to avoid eating. But, you probably know this already. The funny thing is, most of the world doesn't seem to care. The fast food restaurants continue to do just fine because people continue to eat their unhealthy food. So I figured, if you are still going to eat this junk, you might as well at least know which is the best of the worst, and which is the worst of the worst. To show this, I've compared the nutrition facts of the most popular foods from over 20 popular fast food restaurants to see how each restaurant's version of the same food stacks up against the others. If this isn't enough to convince you to eat less (or none) of this stu

You see the picture of a fast food item that looked, oh so yummy, but when the order arrived it looked completely different from the picture. Here we have a real good collection of fast food images comparisons.
Skinless white chicken is one of the best meat choices we have. It’s high in protein and low and fat that’s why it comes so highly recommended. And that’s why the Fast Food industry has been quick to jump on the band wagon and present healthy choices by offering up chicken. But is the fast food chicken really a healthy choice?Everywhere you look fast food is offering chicken. Chicken subs, chicken sandwiches, chicken salads, and chicken burgers. Heck recently Burger King even introduce chicken fries. And then there is the new McDonalds premium chicken sandwich that has been bombarding the television. Note the use of premium to imply healthy. If chicken is such a healthy food choice why is it when fast food gets a hold of it, no longer a healthy food choice? What happens?Let’s pick on McDonalds first who now offer three different chicken sandwiches each available in crispy or grilled. In the fast food world crispy actually means fried but who would buy a fried piece of chicken th
So often I’m asked, "Are all fast foods bad for you?" and "Which is the best fast food place for low fat diets?" Questions like these take me back to a time when I remember how much smaller fast food meals used to be . . . when chicken and fish arrived only deep-fried . . . and one’s choice of beverage did not include skim milk. Times have changed in the fast food industry, and certainly for the better. For those of you who frequent the pick-up windows, check out these helpful hints for lower fat fare.

They had it right in the beginning when they came out with small burgers. Common sense tells us that the bigger the burger, the more saturated fat - .the kind that your liver loves to make cholesterol out of. It’s no surprise that the added cheese, bacon, mayonnaise and special sauces serve to top the fat off. Helpful hint: choose your toppings wisely. Ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles offer no extra fat.

Whenever you talk to a personal trainer about how to improve your eating habits, one of the first things he will say is “Don’t eat fast food!” This is because if you cut it out, you automatically cut down on saturated fats, processed foods, excess sugar and unnecessary chemicals in your body. Although we preach and teach this regularly, this advice is seldom followed because most people simply don’t think fast food is that bad. They figure if they eat it a few times a week, that’s not so bad because they work out. Take a closer look and you’ll see that eating fast food on a regular basis can derail the progress of even the most religious fitness buffs.

A lot of people out there — virtually all conservatives — think that governments have no place in regulating industry.
It’s your choice, they say. It’s up to you to figure out what is good and not good for you — as if the sidewalks aren’t crammed with evidence that selection isn’t working.
Take this witless family for instance, four people who trotted off to their local Pizza Hut:
According to the Cash survey, a family of four sharing a Pizza Hut meal deal - consisting of one Cheesy Bites Meat Feast, one medium Super Supreme, a portion of garlic bread, a portion of potato wedges, chicken wings, and a cheesecake dessert - could eat 12.3g of salt each.
The amount of salt consumed in one meal is more than twice the daily limit for an adult and four times the daily limit of a six year old.
The full depressing article is here: Fast food salt levels ’shocking’.

If there’s anything I’m pretty sure about after spending all this time on YoMomma.tv, it’s that y’all love yourselves some fast food. Aloha! Welcome to the tenth edition of our LogoBlog Poll.
Last week, we asked you to vote for the fast-food logo that you thought made the strongest and most tempting visual impact. Well here are the results:
McDonald’s came out as everybody’s’ favorite with 51% of all votes, followed by Subway which attained 19% of total votes. Next in line was Burger King with 14% votes, and Pizza Hut, KFC, and Domino’s Pizza with 7%, 5% and 4% of the total votes respectively.
It is no surprise that McDonald’s won our poll with such a great margin. Those inimitable golden arches are recognized and remembered by people worldwide. Congratulations to McDonald’s for winning our poll hands down!

The United States fast food market has seen a healthy rise in growth within the last three years which forecasts can be sustained. The fast food market is forecast to maintain its current growth expectations, with an anticipated Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 2.3% for the five-year period 2005-2010. This is expected to drive [...]

On September 18 the Los Angeles City Council may demonstrate just how retarded government can be. Actually this has already been shown by the fact they are even seriously considering putting a two year moratorium on the opening of any new fast food restaurants.Yep, the Tedious State is ready to slap those hamburgers right out of our fat, greasy hands because we cannot control ourselves."Fast food is primarily the only option for those who live and work here," says City Councilwoman Jan Perry. "It's become a public-health issue that residents be given healthier choices."Whatever hippie. But has it ever crossed your mind that people are disgustingly fat because they prefer greasy fries and hamburgers over a salad? Even in LA.And the reason the fatty food is so accessible is because that is what people want. But Mark Vallianatos, director of the Center for Food and Justice at Occidental College in Los Angeles says "Limiting fast food could be a practical solution if it starts to address

Well, to use the word *healthy* might be a stretch but there are always better and worse choices that you can make at *any* restaurant, even ones that are considered unhealthy. Here are my picks and pans from Mickey D's, and as always, I've included the Big Mac for the sake of comparison.CaloriesFat(g)Carbs(g)Protein(g)Fiber(g)McDonalds Big Mac5402945253McDonalds Worst ChoicesDeluxe Breakfast Regular Biscuit w/o syrup & margarine107055109366Deluxe Breakfast Large Biscuit w/o syrup & margarine114059115367Double Quarter Pounder w/Cheese7404240483Premium Crispy Chicken Club6602863394Chicken Selects Premium Breast Strips (5 pc.)6303346390Premium Crispy Chicken Ranch6002364353McDonalds Best ChoicesSouthwest Salad w/Grilled Chicken320930307Egg McMuffin**3001230182Regular Hamburger25

Now what? Which selections are the best and which are the worst from each restaurant. The Fast Food 4-1-1 series is an attempt to show not only the best choices from the menu, but the worst. This week's highlighted restaurant: Subway.Subway has a well-deserved reputation for being one of the healthiest choices in the fast food world. I mean, if it worked for Jared, how can it possibly be wrong? From the perspective of good choices, there are plenty, so first let's highlight the sneaky, not-so-good choices. Because Subway has so many options, I am including the nutrition information for six-inch subs only. If you go with the salad option and get the "sandwich" on lettuce, instead of bread, you save about 200 calories. All worst choices will be
Americans are no longer the tallest nation in the world. The new anthropometric research shows that American people are becoming fatter and shorter than Europeans. Too much fast food in the American diet may be one of the reasons behind the trend, the study says. However, the height problem is even worse in Russia.
America’s population ceased to be the tallest in the world. The study, conducted by Professor John Komlos of the University of Munich, found that a white American male averaged 173.69 cm in height in 1850. The American white male average was 178.7 cm in 2000. The African-American male average was slighter shorter.
Europeans have grown much taller in 150 years, with the Netherlands towering above the rest of the world as the tallest country. In 1850, the Dutch averaged 164.5 cm in height, whereas the population’s average height measured 184.12 cm at the turn of the 21st century.
Prof. Komlos published a number of articles to explain why Americans have started to grow c
Another problem for the body is the widespread use of fast food, snacks and soft drinks. Fast food is highly powered food that fools the stomach into calling for more, despite the fact that one giant burger is the caloric equivalent of an entire meal. The giant burger is not usually

I suddenly realized that it has been a long time since I posted a restaurant review. I've been so busy creating my own special recipes that I forgot about the great chefs working day in and day out to serve us quality food when we go to their restaurants!! So, here's a tribute to one of my special food joints; Spice Hut in Fremont, CA is the best self-serve Indian fast food restaurant that I've been to in the Bay Area. And with a large menu full of top picks from around the country, this is sure to win your hearts and souls (after all, great food touches your soul, right!!:))Spice Hut is located on Cedar Blvd in Fremont in a small place in one of the road-side complexes. The place is easy to miss, and we had to make a U-turn and come back to discover it. As the area is small, you have to stand in line as soon as you enter the door, to order for your food at the counter. They have ample seating, and you can join tables at the far end of the restaurant to accomodate large groups, and

It wasn't that long ago that we first noticed fast food call centers would begin utilizing call recording solutions in their contact centers to improve order taking accuracy and customer service (I believe it was Wendy's). Another story crossed my desk today, this time detailing how a Pizza franchise has differentiated itself by routing all calls for all 41 locations to its' 800#, where 120 call center agents handle the orders, create accounts, and route the orders to each location.Read the entire Pizza Chain Call Center article hereRead more related stories:- The Long Distance Journey of a Fast Food Order- Faster Food: A Call Center Transforms Drive-Through Service- Call Centers Make Fast Food Faster

Summary: A closer look on fast food nutrition.
Is there something more practical and convenient than driving thru a fast food joint for breakfast just before work? Do you agree that fast foods are God's answer to those who don't have the time (and know-how) to prepare home-cooked meals? Don't you just love the fact that your favorite Bacon Mushroom Melt and Coke float is just a call away?
Fast foods have invaded the homes, the offices and even the schools, to replace the home-cooked meals. But are they as healthy as they are convenient? This might get others to think. But for some, fast foods may not really be healthy, but who cares? It's better than skipping meals when you're really loaded on work in the office, or when you're running late for school. Awareness of the fast food nutrition content has taken a backseat because people all agree that it can help them more than it can destroy them.
Fast food nutrition has been in constant focus as one of the po
