I've lived in my apartment for roughly five years longer than I was planning on staying when I first moved in. It was supposed to be a stop-gap -- and now, six years later, I am finally leaving.I remember going to look at the apartment with my mom, and how blown away we were at the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room. Of course, it was mid-May, so we had no clue about how cold it would b

Three musicians playing as if their very existence were based upon playing the notes to this composition. They reach into the realms of rock and roll heavens to grab the spirits of other dreamers and meld them into one experience of letting everything go. That’s when rock shows it’s true power – when all is let go. It’s beautiful when three humans can take a listener this far outside hims

Predictably, the readership around here has taken a dip since the Blog-achella project ended and I'm no longer posting the same music as every other blog in the blog-o-sphere (did I say "blog" enough in that sentence?)... but you know what? Good! I don't need fans of flavor-of-the-day blog bands around here... I need you folks who appreciate the good stuff... like so...Assuming that you don't recognize that album cover on sight, I'll tell you it's Skintone Collection, a compilation of Japanese producer Susumu Yokota's best work on his own label (Skintone, that is). This guy isn't super-well-known in the states, but that hasn't stopped him from being ridiculously prolific... he's put out something like 32 albums - you know those crazy Japanese with their "work ethic" and "efficiency"...

Thanks Adam, for sending this to article to me. It's time to say goodbye to BostonNOW. It's sad to see you go, but to be honest, I liked the Metro better.BostonNOW, the daily free newspaper that targets commuters, has shut down operations after only one year in business. While the paper was growing, the closure is due to the financial difficulties its primary investor is facing. The paper's main financial backer is Iceland-based telecom and media holding company Baugur Group."This healthy, growing 119,000-circulation daily is suddenly compelled to halt operations due to rapidly deteriorating economic conditions in Iceland where interest rates reached 15.5 percent Thursday, the krona, their currency, has declined over 20 percent against the dollar since January, and inflation is now at 8
I'm heartbroken! Michael Johns was eliminated from American Idol! *Sobs* This is the worst result ever... Mr Tony… my Father, my Teacher and my Mentor in life, is no longer with us. That’s the reason the blog was off line these last days, due to my Father’s illness, that lasted only 16 days in the hospital. A Greek hospital run by the famous "Greek National Health System", that doesn’t care at all about people dieing! The doctors in one of the supposed "best" state hospital my Dad was in, have not been paid for more than 5 months. That has a result of a continuous strike situation, with no doctors available in the hospital and my Dad waiting in pain for 10 days with no exam taking place... Who’s fault is it? Are the doctors silent murderers? or is it our government to blame? I will choose the second option and stick with it for the rest of my life, without saying that the doctors
The post about the current happenings in singapore(since my arrival) will have to wait. For now, something more important needs to be written out. This post is related to the one here : LinkFarewells are awful. Specially after you have gotten extremely close to someone. Which is why at times its easy to make them quick and pray they are painless...like ripping out a band-aid. Lets face it, there is always some discomfort when we rip off that band-aid.Ours was a funny story. Two people meeting unexpectedly. A connection that was so beautifully made, a bond formed...and the reason behind that bond? 2 pages of paper. Seriously.I tried to be cocky. During my term tests, I wrote down sarcastically funny, but logically correct answers. I am telling the truth. Don't believe me? Fine. There was a

Russia's outgoing President Vladimir Putin and his United States counterpart George W. Bush are expected to sign a joint document on April 6 when they meet in Russia's Black Sea resort Sochi, a Kremlin source said on Tuesday. The agreement is to focus on hot topics in bilateral ties such as a U.S. plan to deploy missile shield components in Central Europe which Russia opposed to, RIA Novosti news agency said. The one-day summit will also discuss a framework agreement for the development of bilateral ties and other topics such as NATO's expansion. "Experts are working hard on a document within the strategic framework of Russian-U.S. cooperation," the anonymous official said, noting that the meeting will lay out "a road map" for future presidents in both countries. Putin is expected to step

I've spent all morning trying to get ready for my performance on Sunday - I told a friend I knew how to play this song and now she expects me to do it for a group of about 40 people on Sunday. It's a fiddle piece by Jay Unger but I'm no fiddler. They say the only difference between a fiddler and violinist is the number of teeth they have. I've got full set of pearly whites so I'm going to have to fake it a bit. To prepare, I've been listening to fiddlers on YouTube and trying to figure out my own notes to make it sound authentic. It's not perfect yet, but I thought I'd record it for you guys to hear. It's one of my all time favorite pieces of music. Some of you may recognize it from Ken Burns' Civil War series on PBS. Enjoy the screeching:

The fact she made it this far in life is a victory in itself. Her resolve was tested long before the fame began. In the 1970’s, she faced life in an impoverished suburb in the Mozambique capital Maputo during a 17-year stretch of war and poverty.T
Farewell, Dungeon Master! Uploaded by Abriael A shadow descended today upon the world of Gaming. At the age of 69, Gary Gygax, one of the co-creators of Dungeons & Dragons passed away this morning.Dungeons & Dragons has revolutioned the concept of gaming, and we can easily say that the whole gaming scene, including videogames, wouldn't be the same without the work of Gary Gygax. We all owe him an immense debt of gratitude and respect. As a Dungeons & Dragon player since when i was a kid and as a gamer, i honestly feel shaken by the news of his death. It's almost as, in a way, he guided me and many other gamers trough our whole lifes. Weekend of 2nd & 3rd FebruaryFriday, 1st February 2008.The highlight of this weekend was definitely my departure from my current company Sony, and I will be joining Schlumberger at the end of next month. Better pay, better position, better benefits, with new laptop, new hand-phone and free phone-line, so why not? My dear Sony colleagues organized a farewell lunch for me and gave me a Sony bag too, so I guess have to say a BIG THANK YOU for being my colleagues and most importantly my friends at Sony!!!! Remembering Mr. Evel Knievel's Caesar's Palace / Wild Turkey jump:
While in Las Vegas, Nevada, to watch Dick Tiger fight a middleweight title fight, Knievel first saw the fountains at Caesar's Palace and decided to jump them. To get an audience with the casino's CEO Jay Sarno, Knievel created a fictitious corporation called Evel Knievel Enterprises and three fictitious lawyers to make phone calls to Sarno. Knievel also placed phone calls to Sarno claiming to be from ABC-TV and Sports Illustrated inquiring about the jump. Sarno finally agreed to meet Knievel and the deal was set for Knievel to jump the fountains on December 31, 1967. After the deal was set, Knievel tried to get ABC to air the event live on Wide World of Sports. ABC declined, but said that if Knievel had the jump filmed and it was as spectacular as he said it would be, they would consider using it later.
Knievel used his own money to have actor/director John Derek produce a film of the Caesar's

For the first time in the history of Bangladesh football, an outgoing foreign coach received a farewell party when footballers bade Syed Nayeemuddin goodbye yesterday. The Indian coach, who joined the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) last August, saw his contract terminated after just three months at the start of November. The 60-year-old Nayeemuddin, who has yet to leave for home, also set an example by giving wristwatches to 30 players - who belonged to his camp for the Merdeka Cup and Nehru Cup tournaments as well as the World Cup pre-qualifiers.Nayeemuddin had earlier wanted to give some cash out of his remuneration from the BFF to the players, who refused to take any money. He finally had his way by handing over the expensive gifts at a party at a local hotel. Although it seemed that Brothers Union were organising the farewell, sources said that it was an effort of BFF president SA Sultan.Nayeemuddin coached Brothers Union last season - his second stint at the Gopibagh club in th
