Japanese fans have officially launched a fan club for Korea's top actress Choi Ji-woo, who has led the Korean wave by starring in hit TV dramas such as 'Winter Sonata', 'Beautiful Days' and 'Stairway to Heaven.' The name of the fan club is 'Lily,' a flower which fans say well-represents Choi's pure and innocent image. The official website of the fan club will open on March 1 after a pilot run. Eons ago (okay, a few years is all, but eons sounds better) I decided that I just wasn’t interested in the whole Harry Potter thing. My daughter was the one at the right age to be interested in the series, and she wasn’t, so for me it was just as well.
I recall a news item from a while back, where JK Rowling was sued regarding the series. I also recall at the time, looking over the “evidence” out there and deciding that some of it had merit. Some of it I said, not all of it. There are a few items I think are a stretch, but the main items of comparison I think have merit. (You can read some of it here or here.)
Now, I’m not saying she shouldn’t get credit for where she’s taken those ideas, but the fact is, I do not believe the ideas were entirely her own.
