      Family Time Friday
This past Sunday it was kinda yucky outside and it was really cold so we decided to try an indoor playground that we've heard of. It's called the Great Escape and it's in Glastonbury if there are any other CT readers out there. Ben loved it! He had such a blast! They have a huuuuuge playscape area for kids and they have a smaller area for little kids. Small kids can go in the larger playscape w

      Family Time Friday/Dear Kid Saturday

Instead, I'm combining Dear Kid Saturday with Family Time Friday this week.Dear Kid Saturdays at Cutest Kid EverDear Ben,We had a good time this week. First, we took Frankie on a long walk on the trail near our house. We probably walked about a mile and a half and you wanted to walk almost the entire way eve

      Fall Festival = Family Time
It's all come down to this. Months and months of planning, organizing, recruiting volunteers, and promoting it should all come to fruition on Friday Night at 7pm. I've done so many "Halloween Alternatives" over the years that they've all begun to blend together in my memory...While I could write many reasons NOT to do an event that every other church in town does... on the same night... at the exa

      Family Time Friday
This past weekend we decided to go to a local farm that was having some fun fall activities. They had a pumpkin patch, hayrides, lots of animals, hay maze, corn maze, and lots of games for kids. It was really a lot of fun.Ben especially loved the animals. Every time we went to a different area of the farm he kept saying "amals, amals" Translation: animals, animals. There were pigs, chickens,

      Family Time Friday
Lots of pics and a couple of videos in this post. Sorry if it takes some time to load.I've mentioned before that Ben is a huge fan of Hi-5. He dances and sings along with the songs and just has a blast. It's the only show that holds his attention for an entire 25 minutes. Every other show he just glances at and goes about his business. He must ask to watch Hi-5 10 times a day or more. We hav

Family Time - Doing Hobbies Together
In today's rapidly changing world, quality time with family is increasingly difficult to find. It's hard enough to find time to eat dinner together, much less find time to leisure together. But we have somewhat managed to find the time, even if it's just one hour each night. Since quality time is so precious to find a good hobby for the whole family to participate in perhaps a little something, bu

Time Bandits - Who is Stealing Your Family Time?
Anyone remember the old 1980’s movie Time Bandits where a number of minuscule men would travel through time to steal things and sometimes fix things as well? This movie lately popped into my brain and made me start thinking about the amount of time we have for our families.

      « Family Time
After Morgan and Michael got to enjoy some time with their cousins Whitney and Blake, my MIL and I picked them up for an afternoon of shopping. My MIL took me, Morgan and Hannah to a bookstore and then to Old Navy. Morgan got herself a new book (which I have already read), a new bathing suite, and a cool new bag. Since it was a girls only day, while we were out my MIL also picked Michael and Lane

A Helpful Hint For When the Neighborhood Kids Won't Stop Coming Over During Family Time
So many parents (especially Mommies) stop into this blog for household hints and recipe ideas I thought this would be a good idea to post here as well as my other sites. It stems from a problem we had when my three children were smaller and although we've *almost* outgrown it now that my youngest is 12, it's still a huge problem for many of my friends both in real life friendships and online mess

Family Time Should Not Include Video Games
Family Time Should Not Include Video Games - As the mom of two little boys and the designer and manufacturer of a line of games, toys and parenting tools I have a unique perspective on children's toys, games, and products. I also have attended Toy Fair every year in New York where all of the new toys are introduced to the trade before they hit the stores. More: continued here Other Review: Fla

      Family Time
Thanks to gas prices and a three year old who had spent the week suffering behavior regressions and tantrums, we found ourselves without plans for the entire weekend. Realizing this was a rare opportunity, Aaron and I both (mostly) avoided our computers and spent the entire weekend focused on the girls. It was relaxing. And fun. And sorely needed. I think Cordy's behavior last week was a combinatio

      The Weekend - Family Time
Hard work is rewarding. There are no two opinions about it. The body and mind, however, need a break to enable them to function at optimum efficiency levels. That is one facet of hard work that most of us fail to realize. More: continued here

      Woo Hoo!! Family Time!!
The Ball was last night and it was ok... Truthfully, I wasn't impressed. Our command is the largest on base and last year they decided to split it between two nights so they could have it at The Club. There were complaints about that I guess and so they decided to rent out the community Civic Center for the ball. OK! Terrible, terrible, terrible idea!! I think my high school prom was better than the ball last night. I've seen the center done up nice so I guess I was expecting that last night too. There are so many things that could have been done to make the decor right for the night but instead we had multi-colored balloons as centerpieces for our white plastic tables with metal folding chairs. I did have fun with my husband though and it is always nice to get dressed up and go out on a special date! Also, I had a few girls come up and tell me I looked so elegant and asked if they could take a picture with me. That was a nice kind surprise, but it does seem the dresses are getting s

      Game Time is Family Time
I really love the game reviews that are featured at Callapidder Days a few Saturdays a month. Katrina shares games that she and Camden (9) enjoy playing as well as games that are good for she and her husband to play in lieu of watching TV, or a great game that she enjoys to play with a crowd. Well, I'm no Katrina, but she has inspired me. She reminds me that game time is family time. If I

      Family Time
My in-laws are here for a week. They got in last night and poor Cara just couldn’t hold out for them to get here. I just have to say that it is very odd to be typing this with everyone sitting in the living room with me. I’m sure we’re going to go get some lunch here soon. With lunch will hopefully come something interesting to read. If today’s offerings are boring you, might I suggest my gaming blog or perhaps you might try my archives.

      Family Time...
Tim & I, the boys, and my parents"What are your favorite family activities and how do you find the quality family time? And if you don’t have quality family time, how do you make up for it? What challenges do you face?"Here's the thing. If you don't MAKE quality family time... you won't have quality family time. It really is that simple. We're guilty of not making time... it's easy to do. We get busy on our renovations at home or at the church...and oops! There goes family time. But if I have learned anything in my adventures raising four boys, it's how to say no to good things. Is helping out the church good and right? Of course it is. BUT! Not if I am having to sacrifice my family to do it. What does that teach your kids? There is a difference between teaching them that church is important (ie. going to church as a family, participating in activities that bring you closer together as a family) and teaching them that church is the MOST important. Being really involv

Family Time - Whale Day Celebration
It's Saturday and my first thought was: Thank God it's Saturday, cause I've got a long list of chores to do. Suddenly I realized that I haven't really spent some "fun times" with my kids lately. I had been pre-occupied with "cleaning" and "accomplishing projects" that I have neglected our "family time". As I thought more about it, I remembered that today is the Whale Day Celebration at Kalama Park. When my kids were little, and my husband was working on weekends, I used to bring them to that fair. A bright idea came to mind! Let's go to the Whale Day Celebration 2007! Hubby needs to "do" the yard so he bailed. The 3 of us: G, N and I went and we had a blast! Forget the laundry, forget washing the floor, forget cleaning the toilet...we're going to the Whale Day celebration! For many families whose moms and dads both work, Saturday seems to be "the day to o the chores". But once in a while, it's nice to just have fun and take it easy on a Saturday - and that's what we di
