      Family Life, in general
We have been trying to eat healthy lately. That means lots of salads and meats and only little bits of pasta or starches. We aren't really following any certain "diet" ... just trying to shop the outer edges of the store (produce, meat, dairy, and so forth) and watch our portion sizes. The hardest thing for me is remembering to eat several small things throughout the day. This was on

Welcome Home to the Carnival of Family Life
I’m so happy that my baby - The Carnival of Family Life - is home, even if it’s only for a little while. It’s only been a short time since I let her go off and spread her wings with her new home at Colloquium but I do miss her some times. Anyway, I wanted to make this post all fancy schmancy to celebrate her homecoming, however, after reading & commenting on every single submission, I barely had the strength to hit the publish button. I forgot how time consuming this baby was! It’s unrealistic to ask you to visit all of them, but if you could please stop by a few participants I’d really appreciate it. Who knows? You may make a brand new friend! FAMILY STORIES Christine of Are We There Yet? has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving! Check out her list of “13 Reasons WHY My Life is Different“. Comparison of Family Life Today in Different Regions of the World
By: Deon Melchior A family unit is undoubtedly the most important unit in human social life. Our family members are the people to whom we are related due to our blood ties. The people who belong to one family share the place in which they live, as well as surnames and the experience of their lives. Family units are important as they play a very prominent role in building the personality of a person. Everyone experiences family life. For some this experience is very good and it brings positivism to their lives, while others suffer just because the family unit to which they belong is not the one which can give them much-needed love and affection. What you become in your life and how you behave is very much dependent upon your family life. Thus we can easily say that family life is very important to everyone. Children from broken families suffer a lot. They are not that confident when they move on and face the world. They often expect that the world will not treat them in a fair manner. T

      Family Life In Today’s World
By: Deon Melchior A healthy family unit is very important for every human being. Our family members are those persons to whom we are related by blood. People of one family usually share the place they live in; they share their surnames. A major chunk of time of their lives is shared with each other as well. Family unit is very important to people as it is the basic tool that shapes you as a person. Your personality development is very much dependent upon it. If a person has seen a secure family life with lots of love and affection, he or she will be more aggressive and positively driven towards life. Your family is the group of people you can rust the most. These are the people who add meaning to your life. A person can survive through very tough times if he or she has a supportive family. All these factors and many more make your family life important to you. Psychologically, those people are stronger and better equipped to face the ups and downs of life who have a nice family with st

      Sex, family life and religion
I was chatting with a friend recently and in the course of a wide ranging conversation she said, "Sex should be fun." This seems to me blindingly obvious, but not universally true and not even universally accepted as a truism. It got me thinking. How can you accept guidance on sex from anyone who has not experienced it. Thinking about it, turning it into words, symbolizing it, idolising it - none of these are what happens between two people.Siddharta Gautama (before he became the Buddha) was married and had a son. For him (and for Buddhism) sex isn't 'good' or 'bad' - but it is a major distraction. For a monk engaging in sex is a 'defeat'. It is a fetter so strong that serious measures must be taken to recover. However as householder it is not something to feel guilt and anguish over. If you engage in sex you should enjoy it, but see that it is not the whole of existence. However it is addictive and a difficult thing to see beyond. The Patriarchs of Israel were family m

Sidebar Graphics - Blogging Memes - Family Life - Wedding Anniversary
I have yet another weekend of no work.  I hate losing the optional overtime but some things are more important than money.  Monday is my 13th wedding anniversary so we are celebrating it this weekend.  We have nothing major palnned, just another weekend of quality family time.  Today is to be spent with our girls.  We are taking them out to see Shrek 3 (read my review) and then out for a quick bite to eat.  Tomorrow is just the 2 of us.  We haven’t planned anything beyond going out for a nice dinner but I hope we do something additional, if not I may go in and work a half-day after all (since it’s time and a half). In blogging news I have begun installing graphics in the sidebars for the ongoing regular features on 2Witches, as well as a few that we haven’t started yet.  Judge them kindly as they were done in lowly MSPaint inbetween phone calls while I am at work. Parenting often reminds me of being in the first car on a roller coaster ride that may or may not have passed it’s last structural inspection. Carnival of Family Life
The Carnival of Family Life is coming back home to the islands. For those of you who are not familiar with Blog Carnivals . . . A Blog Carnival is a particular kind of blog community. There are many kinds of blogs, and they contain articles on many kinds of topics. Blog Carnivals typically collect together links pointing to blog articles on a particular topic. A Blog Carnival is like a magazine. It has a title, a topic, editors, contributors, and an audience. Editions of the carnival typically come out on a regular basis. Each edition is a special blog article that consists of links to all the contributions that have been submitted, often with the editors opinions or remarks. There is so much stuff in the blog-o-sphere, just finding interesting stuff is hard. If there is a carnival for a topic you are interested in, following that carnival is a great way to learn what bloggers are saying about that topic. If you are blogging on that topic, the carnival is the place to share your work
